Hyundai Kia trunk latch/lock failure disassembly (trunk won't open) 2011-2019

  • The trunk lock/latch will break and the trunk will become stuck. If it's a sedan, Hyundai will need to remove the rear seats to access the trunk, then use a thin tool to push inside the left side of the latch and unlock the small plastic locking piece. On later years there may be a trunk release inside the car, by the rear left seat, with a small plastic cover on it

    Call your dealership for the correct part. Depending on the years the part costs between $10-$40
    Example of part no (depends on the car year)
    81231-C1010-FFF
    81230-C1010

    there was a recall on that latch
