Hearts of Iron IV is a grand strategy wargame developed by Paradox Development Studio and published by Paradox Interactive. Released on June 6, 2016, it is the sequel to Hearts of Iron III and part of the Hearts of Iron series of grand strategy games focusing on World War II. The player may take control of any nation in the world in either 1936 or 1939 and lead them to victory or defeat against other countries.

I actually got the asuming direct control achivement by being a noob and loosing, I was the last one of the axis, the rest had capitulated, so I became faction leader, then I died :D
You can just pick Sweden, go communist, join the comintern, and then go afk and forget to join ww2.
I joined Comintern with Communist China. After winning the Civil war and chasing out the Japanese, I built up my army until I was able to challenge the Soviets for leadership and I got it.
Pretty sure I got mine as Austria-Hungary by joining the axis but not joining their war with the allies.
I think the title has to say: 'What if Mexico was OP' instead of 'What is Mexico was OP?'

@@DaveFeedBackGaming are you going to do a run as communist South Africa and get the rule Britannia and CK2 achievements? I remember a week or two ago completing Ck1, but subsequently completely failing at CK2. I went on twitch and I was surprised to see tommykay doing it too ( big coincidence). I felt bad for tommy as he repeatedly failed many times ( although it was funny when he got angry) but then saw you in the chat, so went on yt to see if you made a guide for it, but you hadn’t. The next day when he did complete it I saw that you too were playing commie SA, and I was excited as I though you may be releasing a vid on it soon. Obviously you have been busy lately and I am loving the paradox content, so you may not have got round to making one yet. You are one of my favourite you tubers and I hope you are able to make it through these difficult times! 🙂

I accidentally achieved the 'Assuming Direct Control' achievement as Mexico by joining the Axis, having enough factories to be a major and having Germany/Italy capitulate. Feedback could have saved about 3-4 years on this playthrough by not declaring on Germany and just waiting for the axis to capitulate because you'd definetly be considered a major. I think this may have also got the 'My house is your house achievement' for hosting a government in exile but that may just be for democracies.

Played a crap ton of mexico myself and i always found naval invading peru to be the most effective way to take them. all you need to do is take the capital which is usually undefended and take the vp just south of it

I struggle to even win the civil war and my dude here creates the Mexican Soviet Republic.
Current progress: In terms of research I'm at 7:55, in terms of everything else I'm a bit further ahead, I'm thinking of taking a bit of a different approach with the rest of South America though.
I was fairly impressed, but when you mentioned that took five hours... it would´ve taken me 3 days to get a campaign to get that far. awesome job.

Maybe this will motivate me to boot up HOI4 and get back to grinding away on achievements. This one has continued to elude me, the world situation is always such a gamble and when you're playing Mexico... what the AI does has a big impact.

Reached late Feb of 1940 and the war with Colombia is at a standstill. Honestly I think this strategy would work well if the Darian Gap focus wasn't done.

If you naval invade Ecuador before declaring on Columbia, they don't have enough divisions to defend 2 fronts which means less grind in Columbia
I recently got the revenge of montezuma and i never conquered the ussr, this is a nice strategy i ll try

A much easier way to get that assuming direct control achievement is by joining the losing side and wait until all the other majors have capitulated

btw if you just do the "antidisestablishmentari" focus u can just keep balancing out the church power thing. and like you showed in the other mexico video its best to just invite columbia and the rest of south america into a faction instead of pushing down into well, hell
5 hours? I followed along and assuming direct control took me a weekend with 3 attempts. Took an extra year of game time to beat Colombia, and I didn't get nearly as much war score against Russia.
I like to do the whole expansionism but also go democratic so I can snag the Panama Canal and get British Honduras. As long as the naval invasion in the Caribbean are done early, they are not really an issue and possible cores there.
That sounds like a lot of work for a lot of useless land zzz

Bruh I made Mexico facist once and just watched them piledrive South America. I was SHOOK. Also how does one play a fleet centered around big ships like battleships and cruisers. Subs are easier and more convenient but I want to flex on England.

If you want powerful Mexico you can also go for Knights of Columbus and fill part of the tree for workers unions. You will get high stability in quick succession. Also there will be election in 1940 in which you can pick Dean of marxism. That with atheist state will give you that crazy factory output.
P. S. rush nations that you can core before 39. It will double your population.

@@DaveFeedBackGaming Just loaded up the save. So endgame modifiers are 20% on const. of civies and infra. / 3%rec. pop / 30% fac. output / 5% res. speed. Also I think I got 100% stability by 39.
Only downturn is you don't get best field marshals and you get only def and drill chief.

Hey Dave I have no idea if u have already gone over this In a video but I was playing anarchist Spain the other day with a friend and found out how you can buy about 2k guns every 20 days for a little bit of political power and it's op! I just farmed it with Spain being encircled in there capital for years you should check it out!

if I had to get this achievement one more time the only thing I would do differently is conquer Turkey after conquering Iraq and maybe try to conquer Cuba since I got this achievement the easy way: join Comintern before putting Trotsky in power, invade Iran, take the coastal province that borders Iraq, leave Comintern, conquer Iraq, build up ports and infrastructure while conquering Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and Oman, then invade USSR after German invasion. I used the 20 width Cavalry-Artillery division template I got from a youtuber; it was either FeedBackGaming or TheSpiffingBrit, I can't remember which one it was but I feel like they're actually the same person and the two channels are an elaborate hoax to earn more money.
