Great video Chris!! I like the DIY repair and maintenance stuff. We all need to be more self reliant. Maybe you two should bring Chris's brother on a video to show all a little diesel engine once over.

The hard plastic isnt a seal its a wear band, keeps the piston from hitting sides of cylinder. I would use the new but if you reuse old won't hurt anything.

Don’t use thread sealer on those fittings there made not to have teflon tape
Would be using pipe thread compound, not teflon tape
