    I wouldn't worry about those metal lines, that metal is better than anything we have today by far. I have a 1975 ford 4000 and absolutely love that thing

    Hi Chris,back in the day with rusty fittings we would often use a block of metal held against the bsckside of the fitting and tap the opposite side firmly with a light hammer. The shocking does the same as the heat you used,and no worries about fire. Cheers from H B. NZ

    pipe dope not needed on jic fittings but anti seize ain't bad.

    • @John_Ridenour
      @John_Ridenour Před 8 měsíci

      Correct. The seal is not in the threads like pipe threads. Anti-seize is a good idea for future repair.

    Good job Chris. If you can take it apart install new hoses and it don’t leak worse it’s a win 👍

    Great Job Chris. It's nice to see people taking care of the older tractors.

    When cleaning up the threads on a fitting, consider putting a cotton ball in the open end to keep debris out of the hydraulic system.

    Morning Chris I bought a Ford 1520 with a 7108 loader ,four wheel drive, 540 PTO. It's a 1989 and had 825 hrs. On it when I bought it about 6 yrs. Ago didn't have any leaks on it, the only major thing I've had to do is put in a new clutch a lot of dismantling and splitting the tractor great tractor mine has ag tires and this past summer I picked up a sickle bar mower that's pretty much my story for now i live in north central Massachusetts.

    Good for you Chris. “Stay in your lane “ always a good philosophy when fixing things.
    But your lane seems pretty wide to me. Well done 🤛🏻

    Sometimes after you heat with a torch you can hit it with compressed air, like keyboard cleaner, and the quick expansion and contraction will break things loose. Wear a face shield though because it can shatter the bolt/fitting.

    The sun deteriorates those hoses fast.

    This is exactly why one should use anti seize compound on all threaded joints.

  • @thomasgreene5750
    @thomasgreene5750 Před 7 měsíci

    With PB Blaster, it usually helps to put it on several times over a day or so before breaking the joint.

    If you can get to it, if you back the fitting up on one side with a hammer and then use a hammer drill on the other side will also break it loose
