    I applied in Oct of 2019. Was approved September of 2023 by the Administrative Law Judge at the hearing. May of 2024, still waiting on the back pay. In November of 23 we received a small chunk paying our lawyer, and a bit more. I just went in person a few days ago, they asked a few questions and said my money is now on the way. It was odd, it was like they were waiting for me to come in in person, with no communication of needing to do that.

      Just remember you have a protective filing date of Oct 2019 and they must start paying from that date on

    When I received my approval letter in 2011; my youngest son was still in High School; however, he had turned 18 in Dec; still home through graduation, at 18. But received no pay for him. Is this something I should look into? It would have been for about 4 or 5 months. Is it worth contacting them? I was approved with no outside assistance. My own application. Due to brain tumor & deficits from craniotomy; & now Lupus. I am 60. In addition I Don’t see on Award letter, the anticipated CDR date?

    • @TheDisabilityDigest
      @TheDisabilityDigest  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I truly understand how challenging this waiting period can be, and I empathize with your situation. The 66% you're seeing is an estimate of how far along you are in the process, not a reflection of your approval chances.
      Each case is unique and the time it takes can vary. It's important to stay patient and positive during this time. Seeing a doctor assigned by the Social Security Administration is a common part of the process, and it helps them gather the information they need to make a decision.

      I understand your concern and confusion regarding the letters you've received. It's important to get this clarified. The best course of action is to directly contact your local Social Security office or your attorney. They can help you understand the details of your case and guide you on the next steps. If you're having trouble reaching them by phone, you might want to try contacting them via the online portal or by mail.
      For more information on back pay, you can watch this video: czcams.com/video/LoFDqUQNbVE/video.html.

    How do you set up your bank account? I never did. Do I call Social Security I am waiting for my ALJ to make a decision.

    • @TheDisabilityDigest
      @TheDisabilityDigest  Před 18 dny +1

      Setting up your bank account for Social Security payments is a straightforward process. You don't need to wait for the ALJ decision to get started. You can contact your bank to set up a direct deposit account if you don’t already have one. Once you have your bank account details, you can call Social Security at 1-800-772-1213 to provide your account information. This way, if your claim is approved, your payments can be directly deposited into your account without any delay. If you need further assistance, feel free to ask!

    I got approved for SSI in April 4, 2024. I applied October 18, 2023. I've gotten $2,829 partial back pay then received my first monthly check on May 26th, 2024. But, I haven't received an award letter as of yet? Why is that? Or rather, when will I get it?

    • @TheDisabilityDigest
      @TheDisabilityDigest  Před 15 dny +2

      Congratulations on your SSI approval! It's great to hear that you've received your back pay and first monthly check.
      Regarding the award letter, it typically takes a few weeks to arrive after your approval, but there can be delays. Given that your approval was on April 4, 2024, and it's now mid-June, it's understandable that you're concerned.
      Here are a few steps you can take:
      1. Contact the SSA: The Social Security Administration (SSA) can provide you with the status of your award letter. You can call their toll-free number at 1-800-772-1213 or visit your local SSA office.
      2. Check Your Mail Regularly: Sometimes, mail can be delayed or misplaced. Ensure you're checking all potential locations where it could be delivered.
      3. Verify Your Address: Make sure the SSA has your correct and updated mailing address to avoid any delivery issues.
      It's important to follow up as the award letter contains vital information about your benefits. If you continue to experience delays, reaching out to the SSA directly is your best course of action.
