- What does it cost to achieve the goals you have?

The “Don’t worry about me, I know what I’m doing” gives me chills.
Yes!!!
Same!
100%! Such an inspiration!
Best quote right here
not wanting a pacer at 188miles is the part that give me chills!
When she asked Billy if he was down to run hard for 35 miles, it got me fired up. You're the best, Sally. Keep crushing it
BEAST
💯💯 her focus at that point was so LOUD without being loud…. absolutely powerful
Don’t worry about me, I know what I’m doing. 😮
Just saw this part and it gave me goose bumps to hear her!!
I felt the same way! Made me want to go out and start running.
11:59 “This next section is 13 miles which is relatively short”
Me, who’s furthest run is an 8K: Yeah that’s nothing
David Goggins book “can’t hurt me” got me into running! When I started at the beginning of the year, I couldn’t jog .25 miles without feeling gassed and not being able to catch my breath. Now I can push 2 miles without stopping!!! Just put in 11 miles today!! You’re such an inspiration!!!!❤❤
did you do the audio or hardbook? such a great book. well done!
@@CamiloGomez-zf7jp I did the audiobook because he added a lot to it that the hard book doesn’t have. It’s basically the book plus a podcast.
I listen to the Audio on CZcams whilst running. Cam Hanes Audio is great too

That's how it started for me, fitness wise, over a decade ago when I started training for the 30km Around The Bay race in Hamilton. Absolutely done after 5min. 7 months later I run 30km in 2:43min without much difficulty, with a 10min bathroom break lol
And ya, the audio book is definitely the way to go! Also, Ultra Marathon Man is a fantastic book if you haven't read it yet. The definition of a page turner! So good. @@_Roasted_Marshmallow
@@_Roasted_Marshmallow but its titel is never finished. that's not can't hurt me
Constantly inspired by Sally. I’ve run a decent amount of races, with half marathons being my longest distance. I have severe nerve damage and was told i’d never walk again after breaking my back in 2009. My first half was in April of 2009 and my accident was December 2009. I had planned to run fulls then 50k’s then who knows, but it took me four years for me to relearn how to walk then run and I ran another half in 2013 and over the last 10 years i’ve run and run and run 5k’s, 10k’s and half’s. I don’t know if i’ll ever reach that full distance but i’m going to keep trying and keep struggling and keep suffering. 🏃♂️ 💪🏼
That is so inspirational cousin. The next time you are in a tough spot, Just know that there is an internet stranger rooting for you to get of there.
You know, there’s something to be said for just doing a full marathon and giving yourself permission to walk/rest as needed. Once you get it done you’ll know what you need to do to run the whole thing.
keep at it God Bless
Incredible😍
that's amazing, keep going and all the best 💪🏽
What a truth - ‘Sally’s strongest muscle is between her ears’. Awesome. And inspiring. 👏👏👏
even that muscle will be eaten due to autophagy... when pursuing health is a no go you can always destroy your whole body with stupid ego chasing
Yeah. I felt a bit too much virtue signaling here
I’m not crying, you are.
Sally’s message of not giving up too early as that’s when the important changes really happen is so powerful. What an inspiration!
I’m literally crying. ❤
This is so inspiring and makes me want to work harder. I haven’t been running my whole life, I just started a year ago and I want to keep pushing myself. It’s not about how long you’ve been doing something, it’s about the work and effort that goes into it. I will continue working hard, thank you.
I'm 50 running my first ultra in February. Thank you for your inspiration!
Good luck!!! You got this! 💪💪
Good luck 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
That’s awesome! During my first ultra I ran with someone for a while in the later stages who was 54. It was epic
Have fun! It won't last long.
All the best!
"We don't only race when we feel good, we don't only give our best when things are going our way...continue moving forward...I could be better than I was even 5 minutes ago." I don't care if you're running your very first mile nonstop or an ultra, Sally's words are so strong. It applies to all of us. What an inspiration. Great job, Sally!
Running isn't really something for me, I'm more into weightlifting and strength, but I truly admire the strength, endurance, and mental power of ultra marathon runners. You guys are mental (in the best way possible).
Really appreciate you watching and for that feedback! Very cool of you!! 💪💪💪💛💛💛
Así es como nos llaman...locos👍😅👍
Whenever I feel extremely tired/sick, I just re-watch this video. It gives me strenght
I started crying when Billy showed you the videos of people encouraging you. The ups and downs of your journey were beautifully captured in this film. Thank you for putting this out for the world to see and be inspired by. Thanks to the filmmaker.
This documentary is NOT what I expected. The video thumbnail intrigued me. I’m not a runner and the only knowledge I have of running is what I see. I know the will to succeed at something can sometimes outweigh what the body is telling you to do. The mental, emotional and physical state this woman displayed is beyond human. I compared her face at the beginning of the video to the time the medic was treating her feet. It looked like she aged 20 years. An absolute monumental success.
The shot of me at the beginning was taken only 2 hours after I crossed the Finish line; you can also hear how sick I am & yes, my physical state was weakened & I lost weight. Really appreciate you watching- I know how foreign this race distance is to most ppl. 🙏🙏
@@sallymcraestrengthso, at :52 that was recorded 2 hours after the finish? I’m impressed by the recovery.
Ha ha yes…we probably should have put a little caption in the film for that…I took a shower and then the film crew set up in the hotel room and bam -interview 😂😂

Keep Hammering, Sally! You're an idol to many.
that is why marathons runners arent and dont look healthy
There's such a thing as excess, even in running.
Some people get the wrong idea..
@@zengerzultra runners get hardened hearts that shorten their life spans
imagine only 49miles left, then suddenly "can you do a hard 35miles with me?" 26:40
that grit, determination... a typical sally!!!
truly truly inspirational..
great video content...
I just completed my first ultra (35 miles) this past weekend. It was beyond anything I thought I was capable of doing. Sally, watching you run this makes me feel like anything is possible. You are an inspiration. I'm going for more.
"We don't only do our best when things are going our way" Love that! Way to go Sally!!
Two years ago I did a 90k run with cough...afterwards I was dead for two weaks...coughing blood...so frightening....maybe silly but at this time (also a hard time in my life)maybe it was all I needed...I always had this Dougie Maclean song "I am ready for the storm" in my mind....amazing job sally...so inspiring to watch!!!
Middle of the night for me, but I know what I'll be watching over breakfast!!!
“Don’t worry about me I know what I’m doing” that was pretty sick, congratulations!
Thank you Sally. I was preparing my first marathon and was about to give up as I’m going through a period of insomnia, when your video reminded me why I wanted to challenge myself in the first place. You reminded me that is how we stand to difficulties that defines us, and how far we can push our limits if we move past the fear of failing. You’ve been a true inspiration, and I managed to run the full marathon. Thank you so much!
Really appreciate you watching and sharing that with me. Thank you so much! 💛🙏
I was in 2 minds of whether to do Ironman 70.3 this year or not. After watching this video, I know I'm gonna do it. You're the best, Sally. Thank you for inspiring & wish me luck!
I have no idea how I came to this video. Absolutely f’ing incredible! I cried when you crossed the finish line. My amazing physical therapist, Gwen in Seattle do these races. You guys are at another level. Congratulations! Amazing video and editing.
"Even though we may feel like this is a really bad race, there is still race left"I raced my first 50K this weekend and this was in my head the entire time! You never know what your body and mind can do. Sally you are an inspiration and rockstar
What fight. So inspiring. It occurred to me halfway through the video, Sally McRae is powered by love - so much going out, and so much coming in. This amazing athlete and person is soooo easy to root for. God bless you, Sally McRae.
You are truly an inspiration. As a woman in this space, you are someone I look up to whenever I feel that sense of self doubt. You resilience and strength are contagious, and you make me feel like I’m capable of anything I put my mind to. Thank you for being the badass that you are.
appreciate you watching and for your kindness; big strength and love to you
The breadth of wisdom from Sally throughout the entire film is priceless. Hard not to get emotional watching this.
So incredibly inspiring. In a world full of people living for the next tik tok it is reassuring in a way, that not all is lost, and that some people still want to do the hard thing because it's the hard thing. Thank you so much for this Sally!
Thank you 🙏
Beautiful cinematic display of pure willpower and suffering. Very inspirational for the ones that need external motivation. Quite a difference with Claire, female and overall winner that year. No support, no pacers, no film crew, no social media, ...
Cannot wait!! I've been eagerly awaiting this. Sally your running journey has been so inspiring for my newbie running self. Thanks for sharing your journey!
aww thank you!
Everyone needs a Billy in their life. Xx
Amazing! I’ve never heard of you before this video and I cried when you crossed the finish line. ❤
Inspirational would be an under statement. You were incredible, digging so deep, not allowing yourself to quit. Billy, what a master at motivation. Thanks to all that took part in your support and the making of this film, it was so rewarding.
Yay! Been patiently waiting for this to come out❤️
The story telling of this incredible journey is a work of art!
As a 62 year old who wants to run another solid marathon (after a 20+ year gap), I am absolutely loving your commentary on mental strength and resilience!!
Watching this gave me absolute chills. Sally’s willingness to endure through everything is truly inspiring. I’m far from being in ultramarathon shape but watching this gives me the motivation to pursue deeper training and embrace the adversity to achieve success.
Man is it inspiring and awesome to see how tough our ultra running community is...Sally is just a warrior, just so awesome to see her just overcome when everything says stop.
Oh my gosh Sally and you crossing the finish line had me in tears, absolutely inspiring loved watching you. I get so much strength from watching you and hearing you
Superhuman Sally! I thought she’d quit many times but she just kept amazing me. Also, this great third place was thanks to her amazing support system and all the help. You can’t do it at all. And the director of this film, astonishing work, great shots / storytelling and music. LOVED all about this short film 💜
Such a beautiful and powerful documentary. You inspire me so much Sally, I'm currently training for a half marathon and your words and videos are helping fuel my training - there's no doubt in my mind im going to finish it (regardless of how long it takes me) because you have shown we have so much more to give than we think we do ❤️
That was an incredible watch. Truly unreal watching you push past your own boundaries and finish so, so strong. Absolutely smashed it!!
Thank you for sharing! I was waiting for this after watching you as a pacer for Hellah at WSER! It has been amazing watching your buildup, the support of the ultra community (especially Billy as your pacer), and this wild journey! Showing the harsh reality and the lows yet you crush it despite everything is inspiring!
I’m literally looking forward to watching this more than any blockbuster movie that’s come out. I think I may need to get an instagram account to just try to get one of those hats. Two years and no “social” media has been a good run but I’m willing to make this one exception 😅😅
😂
Way better than cable tv
This had me in tears. I love how hard you fought! You are an amazing athlete, and I admire you ❤!
Such an amazing and inspiring film! I love that I had listen to the podcast recap of the race, so I felt like I had even more insight! Way to go Sally+team!
I actually cried watching this realizing that you're totally right about the breaking point and that things always fall into place after pushing through it. Next time I feel like giving up im going to watch this video again. You are an amazing role model, thank you ❤
Wow. You're really something. Being in that situation with 30 miles in and still be able to go another 190 miles after that. Inspirational. Thank you. The world needs people like you.
Sally, I honestly love you! you are such an inspiration, not just as a runner but as a human being !! thank you !!!! I will be rooting for you this coming weekend !! you got this !!
Amazing. So inspiring. Congratulations to Sally and the team behind her. Inspiring so many trail runners out there.
Sally you are such an inspiration! I used your podcasts as I trained this summer and they help motivate me thru my first 100km race this past weekend, coming in as 6th woman. Thank you to you and Eddie!!
Watching you finish the race is a tear jerker.
You are a warrior.
Mad RESPECT !!!
I’m so excited about this premier!!! I’ve been WAITING to see this!!
The times we want to give up the most is usually where the most change happens. So profound! You’re awesome
I’m crying at how awesome humans can be. Sally, your determination and spirit throughout this race is inspiring. All the lessons you learned from this race and shared I will definitely take with me into my racing. Thank you for sharing this story!
Amazing film Sally! I was in tears watching your grit and resilience. Thanks for setting the standard and inspiring so many people.
This is undoubtedly the most inspiring running video I've seen in my life. It doesn't just show you the highs, it also shows you the lows. Which is questionably probably the most important part when sharing stories like these. It gives you the full experience. Even if that full experience is uncomfortable to watch. Which is what we need. Thank you so much Sally McRae for sharing your story with us. And many thanks to your phenomenal camera crew as well for helping to make this possible. I'm starting to seriously consider getting into trail running and a video like this is exactly what I needed!
Ok, so I spent 11 years in the Army, and I think the most extreme thing I did was a 60 mile patrol carrying a fair amount of weight, with numerous tasks along the way, 2hrs mandatory sleep, over the course of about 36 hours, made more interesting by badly rolling my ankle after about 4 or 5 miles. Completed it, but ended up going straight to hospital for 3 or 4 days followed by a few months of physiotherapy.
Considering how the first sections went, to have the mental wherewithal to continue is incredibly impressive, because when your body is screaming at you, it is only your mind that can keep you going. Very good move to get your blisters treated. They go bad very quickly and you can end up in a world of hurt. Exceptional result all things considered.
I loved everything about this. Thank you for your words, Sally and your resilience to keep pushing forward. I am so fired up now!
This is some of the most wild mental strength. Running with it being 90 degrees, throwing up, the crazy amount of blisters, and not being able to eat. Most people would have given up having one of those problems. Very inspiring!
Tears tears and more tears. Thank you so much for being who you are and sharing your journey with those willing to watch, listen and be inspired. Your soul is beautiful.
She is so inspiring. Not just running inspiration. She spits life wisdom. I love it.
You are so strong, Sally! 💛💛💛
I done my first ultra (50k) and it was the hardest challenge I’ve ever put myself through.
I can’t even begin to imagine what 100/200+ miles feels like, it’s actually incomprehensible.
Sally, I’m blown away by your grit and determination. This whole film is incredible, loved the voice overs too, you can certainly tell a story!
Sally offers so many tools that you can use throughout a race. When I was hitting a wall last weekend, I dug into that bag of tools and was able to completely change my mindset and push hard to get to the end. It wasn't the best finish or anything close to what I envisioned, but I was able to overcome an almost certain DNF and learned a ton about what I can do
I've pushed my self far and past my limits before but to push through vomiting and unable to eat or drink in a race like this is beyond anything I can comprehend its scary and inspiring and jaw dropping. When she said "don't worry about me I know what I'm doing" I think that was the most intimating thing I've ever heard. This was kind of hard to watch but I think that's because this is an athlete on a level I can't fully wrap my head around.
Truly inspirational on so many levels. Thank you. 👏✊
It is not the first time Sally inspired me to struggle with different types of challenges not only running challenges!! Your history is the best exercise for the most important muscle “ that one between my ears “. Greetings from Polish mountains Beskidy⛰⛰ Thank you so much.
You’ve been inspiring us for years! Such an uplifting story, thanks for sharing the journey with us!
You're a Rockstar Sally! What a big win for you. Thank you for always reminding me to keep pushing. And thanks for sharing your journey with us. You are truly inspiring.
So sick. Literally a privilege to watch this. Thanks Sally
brilliant film Sally, super inspiring - you’re a true example of resilience. Drew and Tyler did a fab job with the production - LOVED it. You have such a tight knit crew Billy and Eddie ✨ thanks for sharing this film - truly amazing.
Sally, you are an inspiration!!! Great job Tyler & Drew
You are so tough Sally. A true inspiration! Congratulations!!
Sally, you are endlessly inspirational. You are a true testament to phenomenal mental fortitude, human spirit in the most dyer of circumstances and all around an amazing human with an incredible life journey.
Unreal, Sally! You’re such a fighter. This was a great video. Congratulations on pushing past the difficulties and persevering. You’re an inspiration to so many of us. 💪🏼👏🏼😎
thank you 💛
A 200 mile race is completely insane - and ironically that's exactly why I love people like you because you push the limits of what's possible. Awesome effort...inspiring!..
Seeing you cross the finish line made me cry! 😢 What a beautiful sight & oh so rewarding! Thank you Sally for sharing your journey, truly inspirational.❤
Wow what a beast. One of the most inspiring stories I have ever witnessed. I will hold this documentary in my heart , always.
So inspirational and vulnerable all at the same time! I was amazed at the strength of your mind and just how far down a human being is capable of digging to be able to push through. Thanks for making it real!
Thank you, Ash! I love looking forward to your videos after my run.
just watched this after completing an 80km adventure ultramarathon race - I clearly have a long way to go but your work ethic and drive is truly inspiring, it's got me excited for the next one!!
Amazing documentation of your journey out there. It feels good, in a weird way, to hear that others also struggled with the heat out there. I was bonking hard on the stretch back from housewife hill and struggled to get anything to stay down, and watching your struggle seemed to validate how brutal it was out there.
I couldn’t imagine continuing on for another almost 180 miles, and seeing how you felt coming out of Stagecoach was simply inspiring that you could push through. Well done on your finish!!
The revelations and challenges and inner monologue to the mental struggle shared here are incredibly moving. What a beautiful record of the power of community, but mostly the fact that Sally is a fucking superhuman BEAST. As Billy said, "this is what you do." You are an inspiration, congrats on 3rd place! 💛
Sally is one of my top 5 favorite athletes. A very inspirational human being.
Go Sally go!! 💪💪
Sally, Yah! It's a privilege to get to watch you race. Your docos are always so inspiring. Much respect xo
Sally, Courtney, David, Cam their determination through races is amazing. Truly inspiring!
@Sally McRae This is awesome. Thank you for sharing your trials and tribulations while maintaining your perseverance through to the end. You have a wonderful support network. Congratulations for beating yourself...often the biggest feat we will ever achieve in our lives!
Wow! What a great documentary and how strong and determined is Sally. Inspiration personified
Congrats Sally on finishing this race! Your crew is super awesome too!
so inspirational, the video quality is top-notch, it gave me chills.
Drew, Tyler - this film is absolutely incredible!
Sally - you are a true Superstar!
Wow that was full of ups and downs Sally, very emotional to watch, you did amazing and so good to have support from your team, well done, thoroughly deserved!! 🙌
The perseverance in this video is so applicable to regular life situations and very inspirational. I am a mom of two boys and working and really raising them by myself. There are days I want to quit my job and I can’t. I feel like I’m going to lose my mind but then I cry and keep going. It’s what you have to do. Especially when sick. It sucks sometimes! You don’t get a day off. So, this video (I used to be a runner then hurt my knee) keeps me going! ❤❤❤❤❤😊
Listened again on my morning run just now! If anyone out there needs a reminder to keep going, needs motivation to get up and run, to run the next mile, to never give up watch this, listen to it! You will be better for it!
Determination, discipline and willpower... Hats off
Fantastic, fantastic! Inspiration for me from Brazil, insane film, insane race, insane history! Thank's Sally, God bless you.
Love her discussion on her mental states and she over come them , it was powerful for me to witness her struggles and she did it
You kept it so real in this video!!! We all appreciate your efforts and transparency 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
