Just upgraded from my 3600x and 5700xt. Gave that build to my brother and he's still playing most any game in 1440. It's a great cpu
My Ryzen 5 3600+RTX 3060 12GB is a perfect combo match for gaming still in 2023 at 1080p Maximum settings with no bottlenecks at all. Don't doubt I'll still get a couple more years out of this setup fine at 1080p.
Great combo you go there. What kind of games are you playing?
@@TechLabUK Frortnuite
That my same setup. The 3060 12gb non LHR is a beast for 1080p gaming and editing 4k video.
@@TechLabUK i have the same setup as well and i played Last of Us part 1, spiderman (and miles morales), GOW, RE4R :)
do you guys disable the pbo in bios when you game?
I'm still using one for 1440p gaming (paired with a 6800) and it shows no sign of obsolescence. Amazing CPU for its day... and today.
Really? I have an "old" pc with a r3600 and I‘m planing to upgrade to a 6800 and I was worried I might have a bottneck at 1440p
@@TheJo1ke the higher your resolition the less cpu matters so a 5600 will get the same performance for instance
same except I have 6800xt and run 1440p. the cpu definitely holds you back a bit. I don't get near the fps benchmarks of a 7800XD youtuber using the same gpu
@@RideTheSkiesduh😂 the xd is newer thats like saying a 2024 mustang is better than a 2012 one
I was thinking of buying in April , should I buy??
still rocking my 10900k, been using it since day 1 release and it still is a BEAST with a 3080 10gb in 3440x1440p, dont struggle in anything and the 10c does me good.
I have one of these paired with a 5700xt with 16gb ram and it still does me fine in all the new games, it will run forza horizon 5 in 4k on ultra at 48 fps , I'm happy with that for now , although looking at a 4070
Had a 1700x in my pc. Just picked up a 3600x for 50$ used over the weekend. Combined with a 3060 ti and it's doing great as far as performance and thermals go. I think i'll be good to play games for the next year and eventually I'll grab a 5600x and call it a day for the foreseeable future.
I still use a Ryzen 5 3600 in my test rig, it's a really great CPU still as long as you are not putting it up with a very powerful GPU.
What about a GTX 1650 super, that should be fine, right?
@@r2d2fromstartrek Yeah GTX 1650 super is a great pairing with Ryzen 3600

My 3600 and 2060 combo still going strong for 1080p. Might upgrade to increase my rendering speeds though
It’s honestly insane how long it’s looking to last, I pair it with my 6650xt and I expected a bottleneck but it can still be paired with some stronger cards, which I didn’t know. AMD really made a diamond in the rough with this little chip
It's a great CPU still although many would disagree.
@@TechLabUK I have a 3600 + 2070 Super, would a 5800X3D be a great upgrade to gain some FPS? I play only in 1440 and never competitive gaming
@@ThePalePatriot You will see some gains but not 100% sure now much. When moving from the 5600x to the 5800x3d we saw like 5-10% in 1440p but huge leaps in 1080p. This was with the 5600x so you should see a little more unless the GPU is already maxed out.
@@TechLabUK Yeah I worry the 5800X3D is to much for my 2070 Super
heck yeah i have a slightly overclocked 6600 and I expected there to be a bottle neck too, but its just a small one and my pc performs amazing. I got the 3600 for 115$ back in 2020 before the pandemic, i have it overclocked to 4.4ghz and it has been the best 115$ ive ever spent.
In 2017 I bought a prebuild with MSI A320M PRO VDS with Athlon 200GE, THEN 6 years later I was able to upgrade that system with Ryzen 5 3600, its like having a new computer. for a very low cost, all I had to do was a BIOS update.
Great video as always mate! The 3600 is a truly lenegdary CPU and it still has some life left in it. As for the weird temps, this happens on my 3950X. It basically always sits between 60-70C no matter the workload.
Yeah very weird thermals on them. Nothing out of this world in terms of worry just bouncing all over the place for no reason lol
@@TechLabUK I have been using this cpu since it was released....for some reason the default cooler does not do a job....i got a nice custom cool where the temperature on idle went down to 40C plus from peaking at 60C on iddle...other than that a awesome chip
@@TechLabUK I know this comment is old, but its due to the cores of the R5 3600 to boost whenever it needs. In reality, theres only 1 core peaking at say 60C° for a single second, then cools down. In reality the chip doesnt run this hot, but only a single core for a fraction of a second.
Great Video.
I had a Ryzen 5 2600x coupled with a 1660 Super and those 2x smashed 1080p on ultra for a good few years, never any problems, even on stock coolers. I think the 3600 was released after that ?
Had a Ryzen 7 2700x that was great in a workstation for many years also.
Keep up the good videos!
2700x was also a great gaming cpu, i used it for music production, artwork and gaming together with the Vega 64... I loved the computer ;)
ryzen 3600 and rtx 2060, still goin strong. Bought it 2 years ago. It is the i5 2500 of this era. It will be enough for 1080p for another 2 years at least.
Same 😅
This was the cpu I upgraded to after using the FX 8350 for a few years. And man, I wasn't prepared for the performance boost!
Time to retire my fx 8320 for a ryzen 5 3600 (can't buy 5600 haha)
same came from a fx 8350 to 5 3600
me too lol
No way i did the same thing, it was a monumental upgrade!
I went from an FX 6350 in 2020 to 3600x... Can relate, jump was wild XD
I have been using one of these since 2019. I used to have it paired with an RX 480 but upgraded to a 6600XT last year. Truth is this pairing can handle about any game on high at 1080p/60. Which as a relatively casual gamer is about all I need.
yeah same
bought and installed the same specs yesterday. so far I love it.
After upgrading to AM5 socket, I put this in the old rig paired with a 4060 that I got on sale. It still runs games really well, and makes good secondary rig for family or lan parties.
I have chosen the newer R5 5500 to replace my broken AM3+ System (Fx 8350). The 5500 "only" has PCIe 3 support but in many games it's a bit faster than the R5 3600 and currently it's arround the same price. After 2 Month i'm stil absolutely satisfied with this little cpu and also the power consumption is with arround 50-60 watts in games like Forza Horizon 5 very low.
The 5500 is a great chip. Want to get one to play around with. The PCIe Gen only matters with certain GPUs anyway.
I thought about getting the 3600 at launch in 2019, but decided to spend the extra money on the x variant instead. It's getting a bit old but it still keeps chugging right along with no signs of needing replaced. Definitely getting my money's worth.
I just ordered one. I've been stuck on a LGA 775 pc since 2009 (yeah i'm that guy, only for office / studying so I didn't feel the need for upgrading), this will be a astronomical upgrade, thanks for the video! Appreciate it!
Oh wow, will be an amazing upgrade. Would say even moving to the AM4 platform gives you plenty of upgrade room but might not even need it.
@@TechLabUK Yeah, this 3600 is plenty for me, coupled with a rx 6650 xt. Once I buy PC's i keep them for a long time
Was the C2DUO based on that socket ? I remember getting my first pc back in 2008.
@@realmoonknight Yeah, Core 2 Duo and Quad we're on LGA775 socket
Had one of these lying around so i got a used 1660Ti for cheap and now I have a nice little 1440p gaming/htpc in the living room
I have AMD A6-6400K 3.9GHZ for over 6 years now. Still gaming and at the same time suffering from performance😫
Really wanted the Ryzen 5 3600 for its cheap price but I'm still young for a job so I just have to keep going😤
I'm using a R5 3600 and RTX 3060 and it's been a great combination for me. I have a Mugen Scythe 3 rev.c cooler on it.
A great pairing, should be getting the full potential out of that GPU with it.
i ordered r5 3600 rtx 3050 16gb ram, do you think it will be good?
@@whiteber_ Depends what you mean by good. The GPU is an entry level GPU but the combo you have will work well together.
Thank you, very realistic examples
its strength in my opinion is its healthy L3 cache and pci gen 4 support with excellent efficiency
The 3600 served me well the past few years I upgraded to a 5600x and Gained about 20 fps across the board but aw man, what a CPU
Great vid brother but ure video seems to have such low bitrate even at 1440p , it almost looks like upscaled 480p.
It is especially noticable when you are in the screen talking(just bad video quality in general).
I think it's important to remember that if you bought the Ryzen 5 3600 standalone to upgrade without it being in a prebuilt pc, you might have neglected to buy good ram which has come insanely far in 3 years. Because every component interacts and we want a well oiled machine so to speak. Nowadays buying used DDR4 32GB 3600Mhz (16 or 18CL) costs like 50.. I bought CL16 which makes a HELL of a difference on 1% and 0.1% lows. I was stuck on 2400mhz and noticed 3600mhz made my games playable to the point where the 5800X3D became a luxury. I could have stayed on 2400mhz had I wanted to, because this chip is amazing if you have bad ram, as it picks up for the slack with the L3 cache.. But if I could look back I would have bought the ram years ago WITH the CPU because I realized you want them to run 1:1, 3600mhz RAM pairs extremely well with the R5 3600(x) and that would have given me headroom to switch to an AM5 platform in a year+
Don't be sad.. I still using 1500x & RX470 untill now.
It always make me happy 🎉
Those temperature spikes really messed with me when I first got my 3600 🤣 It's nice to know that it's normal behaviour
It's just the insane voltage used for single threaded use. You can use about 1.2 volts for a fixed 4.1-4.2 ghz and never see spikes like that again.
It’s crazy how you can still run this thing with a 3070 at 1440p with relatively minimal bottlenecking
Just did an almost all used build off Ebay. Ryzen 3600/ asrock X570 Phantom 4 MB /32gig ram combo $169 used ebay..Gigabyte RTX 3060 12gig $210 used ebay.. TG- M.2 -1TB $35 new and TG- M.2- 2TB $78 new ebay..AG 400 RGB CPU cooler $26 new from micro center. Cougar duo-face pro rgb case $75 new from micro center . Already had good PSU and extra rgb cooling fans. I have to admit for 600 dollars this build looks really good and runs everything great. I highly recommend the cougar duo-face pro rgb case for the price it is roomy looks amazing easy to work with and comes with RGB controller built in to the case. Very impressed with the cougar case. I also recommend for the price the gamemaxx AG400 BK (argb) CPU cooler as I have stressed the R5-3600 under all my AAA games like HP, RDR2 and CP2077 and it never went over 50C. Even I was surprised how well this used
ew cheap rig runs and looks.....have a good day
Im still rocking a 3600 with some overclock (4.3GHz) and a RX 6800 for 1440p and VR gaming and it just works flawlessly.
Gotta say it's a great CPU for anyone wanting anything really cheap to pair to a 3070 or similar. And it supports PCIe 4.0 unlike the 5500.
with the ryzen 5 3600 and rtx 3060ti i get avg benchmark for rdr2 of 59 fps 😮, is it bcoz im useing balance power plan with pbo disabled?
Still a solid CPU defo still. Used a few of these. They can spike a bit on the volts and temps. Do you have AMD Cool N Quiet enabled in BIOS and CPPC if that's in your BIOS too. Also the AMD Driver should provide a Ryzen Balanced Power Plan that can help a little. Otherwise you can set a slight negative voltage offset or manaully clock it.
Great ideas. Will definitely get those set up when we build the system from this one. Thanks for the recommendations!
i have the ryzen power plan to balance, pbo disabled, amd cool n quite auto, cppc auto ,cppc preferred cores disable, with cpu running at 3.6 ghz while gameing at max 34watts useage and voltage at 1.070v max, if i disable cppc it uses 40-50watts power and 1.4v max .., what do you suggest to get good performance with less power draw and cool temps?
It remains a powerhouse for DCS World with the recent release of Multi-threading support, permitting 120fps+ at 1080p, and a smooth 75fps+ at 1440 - all through a GTX1660Ti Super (or 900x RAM Overclocked GDDR5 'silicon shortage' unit). Coupled with an 8GB+ GPU, it hits nearly 220+...as a result, for the silicon fighter pilot, the Ryzen 5 3600 remains a sweetspot of performance for price - and likely to remain of high performance for a decade or so.
For my own particular one, there's never been a thermal spike issue - it runs happily at 38-42 degrees on idle, and maxes at 72-75 on full load...for hours non-stop!
This is making use of a Coolermaster 212-series air-cooler (I don't trust water-cooling systems, not even AIO's - water and electricity do not mix !), combined with the excellent FanCool freeware software, which includes the capacity to adapt all fan speeds of the case and cooler to thermal targets, even if they are a goal rather than an achievement, though sometimes in the dead of winter it can get there...on upgrade, I'll be holding on to it as a worthwhile spare part.
Pretty much the same result here, same combo for DCS and run at 60fps with G-Sync I happily run at just that. Smooth and golden on 1440p...
(su soğutma sistemlerine güvenmiyorum, AIO'lara bile güvenmiyorum - su ve elektrik karışmaz!) 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great cpu 🙂 had a couple of these in the past. Excellent price to performance 😁
How good is it on cod and Fortnite
I got this cpu but idk if I should of got a 5600
I am using one too with RTX 4060ti 8gb and res 3440X1440 ultra wide, it's very good, still very good!
In 2019 my MB fried and was low on cash, grabbed one of these expecting I'd be upgrading in 2 years because it was marginally better on paper than the 4790k I had originally from 2014. Well... 4 years later it's still chooching. I have it water cooled, never seems go above 60 degrees C. Was on 1080p gaming up until this month, upgraded to 4K. Honestly, it isn't bad. Paired to my RTX 3080, I still manage to get all my games to run a fairly solid 60 fps, did need to turn down a few games. The only 2 games that give me some trouble are BeamNG and American Truck Simulator. Both seem to relatively pin one core, and its not a constant low fps, but rather certain areas of the map I can see a hard drop into the 40's, but in others if unlocked will go upto 90. Still happy with it, hoping to get another few years out of it.
What's even better is that with a quick bios upgrade you can replace this with a 5800X3D and smooth out any of those drops.
I pair my 3600 with a 3090 and even with a high end card like that, which I upgraded to recently after price drops is still working pretty well with it. However idk what I would even upgrade to because my motherboard limits the CPUs I could get and I’m pretty sure it’s just not worth the trouble.
With a 3090 and not wanting to change platform you would want the 5800X3D. You will see a difference with that.
if you have a b450 board then you actually can run a 5600x etc your bios just needs an update bc i just built my friend his with a 5600x on a b450
Paired with a RX 6600, what CPU is closest to the 5 3600 in price but offers significant increase in performance? For my first build I have considered buying the 5 3600 and RX 6600 to play some competitive titles in 1080p. Thanks a lot for any advice.
Closest to price and performance would be the R5 3600. You could spend a little more and go to a 5000 series which would give you a little boost, something like the 5600 or 5600x. All of these CPUs though will work well with the RX 6600.
@@TechLabUK I was thinking the same. For a budget build I think the R3600 will do just fine! Thanks a lot man.
@@realcat08 Yeah, still a great budget CPU.

I got mine a coupe years ago, Had it about 6 months and decided to try an overclock, Seems I got the motherload as it went all the way up to 4550Mhz on all cores at stock voltage, Been run stable like that ever since so can't bring myself to change it.
Great CPU. Know quite a few people who have had them for a while and have no intention in upgrading yet.
I cured the temp spikes by giving it a 4.1ghz overclock believe it or not..
Running a 3600x. I got it in early 2020 for 10 € more than the 3600. I've been really happy with it... My PC's Achilles heel is that I'm using it with an "AMD R9 390" from 2015. probably should get that one replaced XDD
Still a great foundation for that GPU upgrade though. Soon as the time is right you drop an RX 6700XT in it and it's like a whole new machine.
Hi! I was thinking of buying my first pc with the ryzen 5 3600 and rtx 3060 12gb as I’m on a pretty tight budget. Do you think that’s still decent in 2023 or is there a better option for in the same price range? Thanks 🙂
Depends what your definition of "Decent" is. It's a pretty good setup still, should play anything 1080p 60FPS. May push a lot in 1440p 60FPS if the games are well optimised / older.

And you know I am looking at RX 6xxx series cards right now. xD
Now you know how good they are and how well they work with an RX 6600 :) I think it would go really well with an RX 6700/6750.
I recently bought a 3060 Ti, for a Ryzen 5 3600, and I'm currently playing 4K on it. Don't laugh, in my games - DiRT 5, WRC: Generations and F1 23 and the like, it handles pretty well. Medium or medium-high settings with DLSS Quality and I have a stable 60 FPS. (In the future I plan to switch to 1440P with a higher refresh rate).
Why would anyone laugh. A great pairing there and it's playing your games fine.
@@TechLabUK 4K is only a temporary option, ultimately I want to use 4K for work and 1440P for gaming. BTW - the 3060 Ti I have chosen is an MSI Ventus 2x GDDR6X. Hi, I'm currently in need of a replacement for my faulty GPU, and I've decided to go for the RX 6700 XT 12GB. My current CPU is the Ryzen 5 3600, and unfortunately, I don't have the option to upgrade the processor at the moment. How well do you anticipate these components working together? Also, it's worth mentioning that I have a 1080p monitor. How significant is the bottleneck expected to be with the RX 6700 XT 12GB paired with the Ryzen 5 3600, and is this combination likely to be impractical for my usage?
They will work great together. May squeeze a bit more out of that GPU at lower resolutions later on with a CPU upgrade but tbh I would spend the money on a 1440p monitor next and you will have a way bigger visual upgrade and at 1440p you will be less CPU dependent anyway.
@@TechLabUK Thanks sir!

I'm currently seeing entire Ryzen 5 3600 PC builds (minus a GPU) for less than 200 bucks. Imo thats a steal for such a good CPU
I call it a solid Campaign mode CPU @1080p
Single core perf is not enough even for a 6700xt 12 GB this CPU will bottleneck it.
just got this cpu just now paired with 10 70 super
Genuine question - does it jumps to 80 and higher, that would actually damage the CPU? I want to upgrade from old laptop to 4060 and Ryzen 5 3600, and a bit worried for high spikes, as they were on my laptop with Ryzen 5 3550H (yes, laptops are different, I know, but still have worries).
Not really, their jumps seem to be a quirk and their limits are much higher.
It's good if you can get it for a good price, but if you can afford a 5600, you should probably just get a 5600, as it is still much faster in some games. It is sometimes around 50% faster, with better latency, and better 1% lows. Given that you would likely want to upgrade to the 5000 series on an AM4 motherboard anyway, I'd say that you might as well just get a 5000 series CPU now, if you can afford it. If you can find it for cheap enough, a 5700X might be good, as some games do actually run better with 8-cores, even on Zen 3, and more and more games are actually benefiting from having 8-cores these days.
The consoles use 8-core Zen 2 CPUs, so that's a big reason why more and more games are actually leveraging 8-cores.
Should I upgrade my horrendous 3400g to a 3600 or 5600 or a 8 core 5700x
My GPU is Rtx 2070 8Gb, I use a B450m
I mainly want 1080p gaming with a 1080p 165hz monitor

I have a 5 3600 and got it paired with an old gtx970, I was thinking of upgrading - what would be the best price/ value option?
Assuming you mean the GPU. Depends on budget but RX 6700XT would be a great choice and a big upgrade that CPU would be fine with.

That will be a huge leap up in performance, no issues at all with Battlefield games after that.

You probably won't see much of a difference tbh but it also depends on how long you want it to last, what games you play and at what resolution/settings.
@@TechLabUK im playing on a 1080p monitor and i play mostly singleplayer. the disparity in price is too high to justify it, no?
@@nettogrof9948 The price difference is quite a bit and I suspect you won't see much of a difference with an RX570.
Having a question here! Still using a Ryzen 5 3600 with a 3060 12gb.
I often catch myself thinking to upgrade, but then I have to upgrade the motherboard and RAM too, and I don't feel like doing that yet.
I still play the games on 1080p60 (That resolution and the 60fps are totally fine for me)
For the most games I play the 3600 is still pretty good. It evens seems like that the 3600 will be good enough for newer Games I'm waiting for.
So, my question is, is there a possibility to tell if the 3600 could still be a good cpu for 2024 too? I now, we're not there yet, but what could the chances be for it?
I still want to wait and hope that prices for a new and more future-proof Motherboard, DDR5 RAM and CPU will drop a bit.
Can't really tell the future but if it is performing the way you want it to now then it will perform the same in the future. We just don't know what new games will be demanding but I suspect your 3060 will become the issue before the 3600 will.
@@TechLabUK Hm... why could the 3060 become more of an issue?
@@MadDogVelare The 3600 is still a pretty strong CPU and can easily handle an RTX 3070/3080 or RX 6700Xt/6800XT. GPUs don't tend to last as long as CPUs.

But thanks for the answers! Hope you have a nice sunday :)
@@MadDogVelare lol sorry, yeah lifeline, nothing wrong wit the GPU it self.
I have 3600 + 1660 super for 1080p. Mostly playin COD. Can I upgrade gpu to 3070 ? Or any recommendations from amd
Yup, 3600 will drive a 3070 fine. You could also look at the RX 6700XT.
Is the RTX 3060 Ti a good option for the Ryzen 5 3600? Would it be better to invest for this card to the R5 5600/5600X? I wanted to finally replace the RX 580, which was supposed to be a fallback option.
Ryzen 5 3600 would be fine with an RTX 3060Ti. The 3070 doesn't really expose its limits, nor the 3070Ti
@TechLabUK is this the same with rx6700 xt ?
@@pavkan4255 Yeah, should be fine especially if you are pushing to 1440p
wich best to my new build ryzen 3600 or ryzen 5500?
These CPUs are so close you probably wouldn't tell a difference. The 3600 has more L3 cache and PCIe Gen 4 Support though if that matters to you.
How much performance differences will be there if i choose ryzen 5 5600 instead ryzen 5 3600 for 1080p gaming? I have AMD rx 7600 graphics card
Not a lot, the 5600x is faster but you might not even be able to tell. Depends on the price difference really.
@@TechLabUK
Over here the price of ryzen 5 3600 is $102 and ryzen 5 5600 is $ 156
And ryzen 5 5600x is $174🥲
Why is everyone all of a sudden considering this to be low end cpu!? It was one the best CPUs when it launched and completely threw Intel in the bin. This was the turnaround CPU for AMD and I don't think since then they have been able to release something as good and valuable as 3600/3600X. I'm still using it and as long as the games are GPU bound which is most likely the case the CPU is still performing really good. I pair it with 1660Ti and it performs really good in games, don't forget that games in general now are really unoptimised for pc so don't blame the cpu blame the devs
It is an awesome CPU as I point out in the video. I believe people see it as low end because it's a few generations old now and just a 6 core.
@@TechLabUK but still good enough for gaming at 1080p as long as you pair it with a mid level GPU. At higher resolutions it's even better because everything mostly becomes GPU bound. I think the only negative about this in 2023 is that it can't perform good enough with raytracing in games, it's too taxing on this CPU (ofc it wasn't designed with raytracing in mind). Since raytracing is the future, ofc it's better to buy newer gen CPUs for new builds but for those that bought it back then it has aged pretty good.
@@ashank9856 I know people with them who have no plans to upgrade anytime soon, they are perfect for many still.
anyone who knows if its possible to use it with a rx 7700 xt i have my ryzen 5 3600 clockt at 4,2 ghz
I bought brand new for 120 dollars so for performance great deal can handle 100 fps in warzone 2 so its okay
I just upgraded my mobo and ram, what would be a good upgrade from ryzen 5 3600?
Great price to performance option the 5700X, tippity top performance 5800X3D
@@TechLabUK thank u!
You are getting lower performance across the board on your 3600 test then I did for normal use on my Ryzen 3600 setup I have been using since 2020. Especially in Cyberpunk 2077 and I basically ran that game maxed out. But mine has also been paired with a RTX 2070 Super the entire time. You should have went with a higher end gpu for your testing to eliminate any possible gpu bottlenecking taking place.
got the exact same setup. don't have the most optimal memory management lol so sometimes some games take a bit to smooth out but once they do they run at pretty high frames. can handle the newest stuff, particularly RE4 Remake with no issues whatsoever. R5 3600 + RTX 2070S my beloved
Nice video
Are the temps with the wraith cooler in check?
Generally fine with any Wraith cooler as it's only 65w. You see the normal Ryzen bouncing peaks but you see that with any cooler.
@@TechLabUK so the wraith cooler and a 120mm exhaust fan should be enough, yeah?
Thanks so much for your reply. The PC community is so very helpful.
@@proctoscopefilms Should be alright tbh. Ran a 3600 from a stock cooler for ages myself a while back. You wont get much overclocking on one but in normal use they work fine if not a little loud now and again.
@@TechLabUKthanks so much!
Rockin mine now....wanna upgrade but its still freekin fast.
It is a great CPU still especially when we are moving up those resolutions so it's holding on even longer.
i have this paired with the 5600-xt, i have been thinking about upgrading but don't know what to upgrade to anyone help me out what cpu and gpu should be my next step?
There's a lot of choice out there. Suppose it depends on how high you want to go, what your budget is and if you want to stay on the same platform or rebuild. If on the same platform, go 5800X3D for CPU. Fastest on AM4 and will last a while yet.
@@TechLabUK so i should upgrade the cpu first and then get a stronger graphics card at a later date?
@@thespoon91 If you were to only upgrade one, go for the GPU. The Ryzen 5 3600 can easily feed something like an RTX 3070 especially as you will want to go up in resolution.
@@TechLabUK thanks been looking for weeks and been confusing myself with all the research as there is so much to learn. So is the rtx 3070 about as high as it will handle?
@@thespoon91 TBH I think it would be fine with even slightly higher. It should keep something like a 3070Ti / RX 6800XT happy and once you do move to a new CPU 9Which I would say next platform) a GPU like that would transfer over nicely.
I have a RX 6600 XT with 16GB RAM (2x8, 3200 MHz). I want to upgrade to a B550 motherboard and get a Gen4 M.2 NVMe. Is it worth to replace my R5 4600G with a R5 3600? Would it be better to replace it with a R5 5600? I'm using my PC for productivity mostly and casual gaming (single player, Rocket League sometimes). The difference in price between R5 3600 and R5 5600 (most expensive), according to what I found in Argentina nowadays, is more or less 50 dollars.
You would have to change the CPU to take advantage of the PCIe Gen 4.0 and if I were upgrading to it I would probably go with the 5600 as it is faster but also on newer technology. Depends on the price difference though, here we will pay around £50 for the 3600 and nearly £100 for the 5600 so not so much worth it tbh
@@TechLabUKGreat. I was considering the options, trying to make the best choice possible. Now, I have a better idea. Thank you for your response!
is ryzen 5 3600 compatible for a320 motherboard?
Board might need a bios update to support it. Depends if this has already been done, if the box has a sticker on it saying "3000 compatible" then it should be fine.
Yeah i am using a MSI A320M-a pro motherboard, it's fine
me on my 3600 and 6700xt
3600 + 2070 Super. I think its one of the best purchases i ever made.
That is what i am running. And it still goinf hard. Our next uograde would be the 7600. Thats if you want to upgrade everything!
What's the limit for gpu on this cpu? Will the 7800xt be too much?
I would say the 7800xt would work ok on it but you will be leaving some of the GPU performance on the table. More like a 6700xt / 3070Ti would be the max I would run on one tbh
hello! Ryzen 5 3600 and RTX 3060 is it good? or RTX 3060 Ti? i have B550m Motherboard. Thank you!
Would pair fine with either of them.

I NEED HELP!!
I already got an r5 3600 CPU and I am planning to replace my 1060 with RX 6750XT or possibly an RX7700 on lunch if it looks good and the price is right.
so here's the detail
CPU - r5 3600 GPU - RX6750XT/7700
I know that it will bottleneck at 1080P SO pushing it to 1440P
My goal is generally to hit 60+ FPS at 1440P
is my plan even gonna work and how much bottleneck will I have/lose at 1440P??
I think this will be my 2nd or possibly last pc build/gaming exp. that I will have as I'm getting on with the year (29yrs old). I just want some honest opinions on this. Thank You.
The 3600 should be fine with those GPUs at both 1080p and 1440p. It depends on the games though but if planning to go 1440p anyway then the GPU will be doing most the work anyway.
@@TechLabUK tnx for the quick reply thats all i need to know. so ill wait for the RX7700 until next month then if not ill go with the 6750xt. You got a sub from me.
@@chuckchuk5157 Either of those cards should provide a great 1440p experience.
using ryzen3600+1660ti with a 550w Power supply
feel laggy for AAA games now, should i just upgrade the graphic card or buy a new pc?
Depends what's causing the lag I suppose. The CPU is still pretty strong and should support up to an RTX 3070/RX 6700XT
@@TechLabUKmay i ask why 3070 but not 4070? Better price?
I got 1080p all low with tons of laggy at elden ring, feels soooo bad
Rn i just wait the gta6 recommend spec to make the call
@@savedragoon3326 A 4070 with this CPU would probably leave GPU performance on the table. i.e. the CPU would become the bottleneck.
Besides RX 6600 what GPU is the best for R5 3600?
You can go as far as a 6800xt and still be ok.
So i got an rtx 2060 super...will this cpu be gud for that or should i get a core i5?
It depends on which i5 it is but this chip should work fine. We did a video recently of this chip with an RX 5700XT which should be similar in performance czcams.com/video/dSLGOefUMbc/video.html
Is rtx 3070ti huge bn for r5 3600 cuz i want to upgrade my 1080TI?
Not really, should be alright. I know a lot of people using that combination and they seem happy.
Ryzen 3600 with a rtx 2070 is that a good combination? That's what i have right now. Please let me know💯🙏
Should be a pretty good match.
Does Ryzen 5 3600 goes with Rx580 2048sp
It would go with it fine. You could run an RTX 3070 on a 3600 and it will be fine.
Would 3600 cpu be good with a rx 6400 or a 1650?
3600 should be more than enough for those GPUs. Do you already have a motherboard for it?
I paired my 3600 with a 3060 I'm a monster.
what should i get a Ryzen 5 3600 or Ryzen 5 5500?? I wanna upgrade my CPU so bad.
The 5500 is faster but the 3600 is cheaper. If you can get the 5500 within budget then go for that one.
@@TechLabUK thank you, how about R5 5600? is it much better than 3600 and 5500? also is it compatible with a prime b450m motherbord?

Îs ryzen 5 3600 good enough for rx 6700 xt at 1440p?
Depends on the game but it will work fine for most as at 1440p you are pushing more of the load onto the GPU anyway.
Still a good cpu. Only game I couldnt enjoy is Warzone cuz I cant reach 144 fps 😅
