It’s actually ridiculous how this is literally my exact cpu + GPU on my first build. Upgraded to the R5 5600x and an RX 6700 XT just recently, but that initial combo had me set for 3 years at a great starting point.
Same here. 5600 & 6700xt red devil.
What motherboard do you have?
My spare rig is exactly the same. Asus b450 Prime, Sapphire Pulse RX 580 and G.Skill Ripjaws V
It just keeps on going.
does the r5600x work well with the rx 6700xt for 1080p 144hz gaming???
you can upgrade that setup one more time to a 5800x3d and whatever gpu releases 4 years from now.. your system will be on par with a rtx4090 rig then.
The RX 580 8GB was such a bargain when released. It can still play pretty much every game. Thanks for the likes, I have a benchmark channel if you want to check it out!
Yeah it was a great deal, and used prices means it is again
I got muy 570 8gb and it's rock solid, Even considering my cpu is not the Best to pair these days
@@isaacgutierrez1607 what cpu you have got?
@@RandomGaminginHD Why did you put RX 580 in it? At this price point, you would easily hunt down AIB 3070 8GB
@@HanSolo__?
The RX 580 is under £80 in the UK.
What 3070 are you buying for that?
A 3600/5600 paired with a 5700 XT would make an excellent budget 1440p build
That would be a fun video to see
depending what you wanna play
i would stick with 1080p and enjoy higher framerate and settings but yea it is a good value build right now.
or 1080p/144hz gaming
That's my exact configuration 😂👌🏻
It's quite nice that the old RX580 is still hanging on as the medium settings standard. Built a HoloISO (Steam Deck OS) system with this GPU. Absolutely solid workhorse
Nice job. Not many reviewers show this end of the budget. I've been a budget builder for a long time and one of my daughter's is still using my old RX 570 8 GB card today and it games just fine. She's just upgraded from an old FX6300 to a Ryzen 5500 and it's a big difference. The 570 is still going strong but is going to be her next upgrade.
The amount of value I'm getting out of my 1600x and rx580 8gb is crazy, 5 years old by now, heading towards 6.
I know I'm too late for this one ..5 years late apparently
I'm looking to build a PC with this combo can you tell how it's treating you with the new titles ?
Mad to see this recommendation in 2023 I recommend this exact set up a good few years ago as budget system mad that lower end has barely moved in last few years
For an intro to gaming I always will recommend used, especially from eBay used with buyer protection. I’ve gotten killer deals like an a320 motherboard for $30, a Ryzen 3 2300X for $40, and a used rx570 for around $60.
This combo is a really good combination too, no real complaints tbh I just know people on a budget really want more for less and used for me is the best way to go as long as there’s buyer protection
That combo is really impressive. It's still viable today. If course the GPU could be better but that little 580 is great
Indeed nice to see you continuing to bring true budget gaming systems on your channel. The Rx 580 is the full on model as well not one of the cheaper prices new ones we are seeing on Amazon now, still a decent card but a cut down version.
I used to run this combination up until 2021... then got an rtx 3080 gaming laptop. RX580 is still super strong for 1080p in my opinion especially with FSR.
Yeah for sure, the 3080 laptop is a very nice upgrade!
@@RandomGaminginHD isnt 3080 in a laptop trash tho i hear mobile processors and gpus suck
@@SharkButtholio I mean, compared to his old setup it's not really that bad
@@SharkButtholio laptop gaming > pc gaming. You can go and game everywhere, even in the go. And these new laptops have almost the same performance like PCs
@@_Drekavac_lol thats just uninformed & not correct.
a 80Watt 3080 cannot compare to a 350Watt one lol
Great video. Testing hardware combinations that suit lower budgets is a terrific idea. I recently added a GTX 970 to my nephew's old FM2+ system, with an A10 7700K and 16gb RAM. With an extra fan and new disk it works well, despite that CPU. I could see your B450 and the Ryzen being the next cost conscious upgrade.
Interestingly I also thought my first upgrade from the Ryzen 5 2600 & rx580 8 gig combo would be the GPU, but funnily enough I got CPU bottlenecked in the games I wanted to play first, the game that stood out to me was God Of War targetting 1080p @ 60fps.
Edit-Upgrading to the R5 3600 solved most of my issues, thought I'd point this out since it's the opposite experience to the TBF solid advice you have given. The R5 3600 is a substantial upgrade & 100% worth considering.
if you want more fps ALWAYS upgrade cpu first then ram speeds then last upgrade gpu only upgrade gpu when ur at the fastest ram speed ur platform can handle and ur at the fastest cpu cap
@@CHICKENmcNUGGIESMydude ALWAYS? That's bad advice man. It's finding out what the bottleneck actually is.
So Rx 580 + R5 3600 in a B450 motherboard = no bottleneck ?
and if u don't mind, what PSU do u recommend ?
(I'm new and i'm just targettting 1080p & 60fps)
Thanks in advance :)
@@Aladdin-Drj Well there were still frame drops, but those are GPU bound and it wasn't too bad, but i have a freesync monitor so it was still very playable. RX580 doesn't get support any more, just a head up. Just check some reviews, I have a 550watt corsair white certified, and it's been just fine for 6+years. I'd recommend something from a reputable brand like corsair and 600watt+ bronze certified. FYI I have a dirt cheap a320 board got it for £29.00 brand new with delivery all those years ago :-)
Still a lot of room to drop-in upgrade later on with this configuration!
Yeah exactly
provided you don't go for x4 lanes 4.0 GPUs such as the RX 6500, maybe even not the 66xx, which is unfortunate - that would require a b550/x570 board with a Zen 2 chip. Something like a used 2070/Ti/Super/3060 might be better but definitely a bit stretching it for 1080p, but granted, I'd argue the 2600x is still a great 1440p CPU for most games and would still take advantage of that GPU power. CPUs simply aren't the bottleneck unless you're going for over 100FPS in a lot of games
@@cldpt What might be the highest GPU for a 2600 without the CPU bottlenecking too much? Assuming 1440p with at least 60fps on AAA titles.
@@amilyester somewhere around a 6700XT / 3060Ti, i reckon.
I used to have an RX 580 8gb before it kicked the bucket months after I bought it. It does fairly well in most titles and the 8gb of VRAM gives it enough headway in modern titles. Great video as usual!
what happened to it if you dont mind saying?
@@Kaguyaaa_x_x It began to hard crash with pixels and stripes all over the screen when I played games and I could never figure out the cause. I eventually sold it and bought a better card.
@@GrabASpriteB So you sold your garbage to some other sucker instead of cashing in the warranty for a free replacement?

@@stevethepocket I'm pretty sure he sold it as it is lol, probably already used, the guy he sold to knew what he was buying.
This was my exact built for a while and while I have since upgraded to a 1080ti, I am still hanging on to my 2600 given just how well it has held up, not to mention the hell of a card the 580 was
I just watched a video recently about CPU stagnation, sure they're getting better and better, but this chips still seems to have a good deal of life left! Would love to see how it performs with a more powerful card.
This is my exact setup that I got in 2020 and still use today. I have a 2600x instead due to a really nice Microcenter deal.
Yes, in Asia RX 550-580 is top end gpu..many that only have pity gt..
This is what I was contemplating about, what CPU to pair with an RX 580, specifically an Aisurix RX 580. Been searching for a vid like this. Thank you man!
Thank you so much for the video. Grabbing a used 2600x for 45 CAD for my ultra budget build
This is the combo I started out on in 2020 except with a R5 3600. Very capable for a ton of games and the 580 was able to do very well in 1080p gaming.
The one I had was given to me, I gave it to someone else and when they upgraded it went to another buddies PC. It’s been in like 4 of our systems and my friend still games on it today!
There is a huge difference with the RX580 on a 3600 than a 2600.
@@wayland7150 I wouldn’t say it’s huge but there is a difference. With how cheap you can get a 3600 now account I think that is a better choice imo. Either one would make a solid starter though
That was my combo too, only I had a 4GB RX580 (also a Gigabyte Aorus, just like the one in the video). If it was 8GB, maybe I wouldn't've upgraded yet (got an RX 6750 XT a couple of months ago)
@@wayland7150 do you mean, the R5 3600 works better with Rx580 than R5 2600 ?
(I know I’m too late 😅)
What about bottleneck issues ?!
This is almost exactly what my first gaming PC was. The only difference was my cpu was a Ryzen 7 2700, and I got it late 2018. I built my current PC late last 2022. Seeing how much it costs to build a decent system like this is amazing to be honest.
I really like this combo. Looks really good together
i literally did setup this build week ago and now this pop up for me :D
Ryzen 3600 and RX580 is what my other half got in 2019. I got a 3600 and 5700XT that I already had. The RX580 8GB is still a great GPU. That was the version to buy and could be had new for around £160 at the time. Mid-range cards are now over £300. :(
3600 or 5600 /w 6700xt is prolly a good spot with a lot of recent games hitting 12gb vram.
nice Work! thank you!
my first build last march 2020! still able to play any game I want today!
this is very similar to the 2400g and 5804gb i used to run in a prebuilt. glad to see that its still holding up, the 580 is a beast
Cpu is the weak part of the prebuilt.
Did you end up upgrading that cpu?
@@aboveaveragebayleaf9216 nah, I've been considering upgrading to a 2700 non x for a Minecraft server but I haven't gone around to that yet. that is also the best CPU the prebuilt supports.

it can drive 2 displays etc... but i have literally no idea what mobo i had or anything like that because i started being interested in that stuff when i got my new pc.
worked fine for me for quite a while, pretty nice 1080p rig
Don't forget the "50" AMD cards... The 6650 XT and 6750 XT are usually $50 cheaper than the 6700 and 6800 cards and almost match them in benchmarks. I've been eyeing the 6650 XT at $290 on amazon lately and will recommend to anyone building a $900ish PC. A new 580 on amazon is only about $20-50 cheaper. Even on a budget, the price difference for performance doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
yea no point buying rx 580 new, u should be only buying it used
this man is showing off a gpu in the rain ._.
Basically my first upgrade after my FX system. R5 2600, 8gb RX 580, and a strix B350 absolutely loved it.
FYI if you want competitive settings for WZ2 balanced preset is a good start, but most players also set a higher POV with 100-110 generally thought of as a sweet spot. This will affect FPS as its more taxing on the GPU, perhaps you can try showing us this next time you do a WZ2 benchmark
Built my pc over 3 years ago with a r5 2600 and rx 590 and i can run anything i want quite Highley iswell

Keep up the good work man! P.S. I really believe CRT is the way to go if you cannot afford a high end pc, I only use it to play games so i got that mental divide between work and playing as a bonus
Cool video. Watching this on my new PC I cobbled together from my previous i5 6500 Intel machine. Got to say I am loving it. Glad to be back running an AMD system with a real upgrade path again. Haven't had an AMD machine since the FX line.
The new machine features a Ryzen 5 1600 AF and from what is online the refresh basically seems to be a slightly lower clocked 2600. I have it paired with an RX 5600XT and 32GBs of RAM on a B450 motherboard. Should do everything I need for awhile yet.
Completely upgraded my 4770k, 8GB DDR3, RAM system about a year ago to a 12600k, 32 GB DDR4 rig but kept my 8GB Sapphire Pulse RX 580. It's an imbalanced system admittedly but I'm still very happy with the performance.
I honestly was planning to do the same in terms of upgrading everything but the RX 580, but silly me thought that it wouldn't be such an expensive upgrade (where I live), so I just thought of spending some more bucks and get the entire thing upgraded while selling my old rig how it was, which helped sell it faster than intended
IF you're happy with it then that's what matters, save your money
This was literally my first PC Build back in 2018. I loved it and it performed well at 1080p. I still have my 580 and probably will hold onto it and keep it on my shelf.

I used to have this EXACT setup since 2019. Recently however my poor RX 580's fans completely died for a second time (first was summer of 2022) and I got myself a Ryzen 5 5600X + and RX6600. Long live one of the kings of budget pc parts.
Great video, again!
This makes me reassured that -for my needs- changing from my Athlon II X4 640-Radeon RX460 4G, to a Ryzen 3 1200 and RX570 4G will be not bad. AND I can easly upgrade later to a Ryzen 5 2600 or 3600, or even Ryzen 7 1700, or whatever, what my budget will be. :D
My old pc motherboard had the exact same parts and is in use as my sisters sons gaming pc at some point some upgrades might be needed but so far he is happy with it .
It´s weird, I‘m More the pedal to the metal Kind of gamer, aiming for 4K resolution. But these low cost builts are so satisfying and great to see how they perform
Great video >>> thanks love ur channel and the budget builds .. But i cant get over the rain drops on your combo :D .....isn't that wrong ?! cheers from Egypt
Rocking that same set up. I just updated to a RX 580 ARMOR 8G OC, replacing my problem prone Sapphire Nitro+ 470 OC. It had a custom BIOS that that could get temperamental.
YES. Thats the exact spec im going for with my brother's build!
Thanks for the video. It's nice to see that my planned build are on the right direction. The AM4 platform really is a good thing for us poor people. Helps not waste pc components.
I got a 3200g a320 8gb ram 512gb hdd and a 1600x900 monitor pre-built pc during the lock down for school and I already upgraded it with another 8gb ram, 120gb ssd for windows and a RX 580 8GB.
I'll start my first job this April and this is my plan: a1080p monitor, a used R5 3600, another SSD then new mobo and new ram so that I can pass the original pre-built to my Lil bro.
I do love all the raindrops on the very sensitive computer parts!
Nice. This is almost the same exact setup I have. Got the 2600x on Ebay for $85 and an 8gb RX580 for $90 right before the pandemic started and still using it to play current games like Lost Ark, the Diablo 4 beta, Tekken 7, Street Fighter 5 all with no issues.
I had a ryzen 1600 and rx 570 8 gig since late 2019. Half a year ago i upgraded cpu to the ryzen 5500, and oh god, it improved my experience a lot. rx 570 is still doing great!
this was my combo for 2020 to 2023 :D
Ahhh darn! Almost matches my current setup, a ryzen 5 1600 and rx580 at 1080p it's a great machine
Back at the very end of 2018, I built a very similarly configured system, just with a 2600x instead of a 2600, so same CPU, just a slightly higher stock clock. The system still works very well.
Good to see Deathloop back in the mix. The game is very heavy on the VRAM, I've seen it creep it's way up to 16GB. It would probably keep going up if I had more.
Having said that, I've been testing a RX 550 2GB and made a video on it, and it runs... kind of...
I've been running this since a friend spec'd it out for me as a good budget build in may 2020
Just digging your videos. Here in the US Microcenter has the 3600 with a Gigabyte B450 bundle for a $129. Might just pick these up come Friday.

The droplets in the intro really twig my tech dampness paranoia.
I am still impressed with my 2600/570 combo, super fast m.2 SSD and 32gb o' the ram stuff and it plays everything I put at it and looks good too on this 4K Philips monitor. Cooling wise its got a cooler master G100M MasterAir, system idles at 25ish, sat inside the awesome HAF XM server case which I have stuffed full of 200 and 240mm fans, I did buy a used Seidon 120v for the rig but the seller ripped me off saying it included a AM4 bracket but no worries as that will go on my almost ready to go previous rig which is sitting in a NXZT white case and that is going in front room as a home theatre pc.
its my exact build ive been using past 3 years. It didn`t let me down once,
had this combo with a b450 until december, when i switched to Ryzen 5 5600g, 32gb ram, and swapped rx580 for a rx6700xt last month
Exactly what I have on my second pc.. It still plays fine at 1080p with FSR quality or medium presets in most games.
I've had this EXACT SAME configuration for about 2 years now. I can attest, it works great.
I am running a 570 with a R5 1600AF so pretty close to this combination and it is a small beast. Handles mostly everything and keeps me happy. I am going to do a repaste to keep it cool as I use it for streaming.
This was my exact build a few years ago, first pc I ever built for myself.
this is literally my exact combo and it still runs (almost) everything just fine. Only game I havent been able to run is Starfield.
2:55, I lost it when the grenade bounced off of his head lmao
Great vid as always. Yeah, definitely a very good combo for the $$$. Currently on my local FaceBook the cheapest 8GB 590 is a nice AsRock for $90. The cheapest 1660 Super is $88 though it is an OEM card but the ringer in my opinion is the cheapest 5700 XT is an MSI for $140. I think for someone with an eye towards 1440P gaming, I'd probably try to scrape together another $50 and go for the 5700 XT though that would probably suggest going up to at least a 3600 or a 10400 which would be another $40-ish ... It's always something. I put together a budget system over the weekend to hopefully get it sold and had an 8400 on hand and a 1660 Ti, 16GB of 2666 and a 240 GB M.2 and was pretty surprised at how well it ran, esp at 1440. I knew it would do well at 1080p even though it's bottlenecked.
In 2019 I had just about the same combo, B450 and 16GB RAM, BUT it was the first ever PC I was building and I knew nothing about overclocking and safety with those things. I've heard that overclocked RX 580 is basically RX 590 and that overclocked 2600 is basically 2600X - and that's what I got. So from where I was standing, that combo is still the best combo a money can buy for that price. RX 580 and 2600 are THE COMBO to get on a tight budget, just familiarize yourself with safe overclocking for that oh so sweet free boost.
I have been using nearly the exact build before the whole covid thing happened.
I have a 3500x with Rx 580, still gives me 60 fps at nearly all the major titles at medium 1080p.
I'm planning on upgrading to a Rx 6700 soon.
Wow the spec actually hold up pretty well. I own a gaming laptop but interested to build my own PC someday. Gonna go for ideal price to performance ratio
This is the setup my spouse until recently used for gaming, though we had a 3600x in it. The RX580 is still a beast of a card!
Forget me not in the back ground couple of roses bushes.nice
Thanks
Had this combo from 2018 til a couple weeks ago. I game on 1440p so it started to do not so great. But it was solid for the almost 5 years I had it.
Damn nice video, if I hadn't already bought the HP 15s-EQ series laptop I definitely would've went for this combo.
Tho prices differ a lot from regions :((
The upgrade path to a ryzen 5600/700 later down gives this build some real potential later, especially with how quickly the 5xxx series has been dropping in price with the new ryzen 7xxx series.
It's worth mentioning that getting decent ram can help these CPU's a lot, theres a good 10-20% difference going from 2600mhz to 3200mhz , but that almost always has to be set manually in the bios.
I've been experimenting with the rx570 and rx580 on my fx based systems. Both 8gb Nitros, the rx570 with an fx6300 and the rx580 with an OC'ed fx8350. They all work well together, including Cyberpunk. And they are more efficient than the old HD and R9 cards I was running - more capable for less energy.
This is my exact setup atm, I am about to build a new rig!
I have this as my "travel" PC when I go to visit my parents, albeit with slightly slower RAM (3000MHz) on a 1440p monitor. Still plays a treat for most of the games I still dabble in. Halo Infinite is a tad of a struggle, but only in the open world.
Great video.
