THANK YOU!!! I gotta check. My freinds. In his car.. its. A soft. Tick. And i think. When. The cooling fan went.. it overheated. Bad enough. That. You could smell burning metal.. that seems. To. Be. The only. Issue. With. It. Right now. I dont think its. An exhaust. Leak or a pulley. Checked. All that out.
It could be a stud pulled up a bit out of the head from the heat, you may could check the push rods and readjust the valve lash and give it a good oil change and fix the noise
I think I have bent pushrods just barely. I rolled them and a couple I can see light under and seems to just barely bow. Would this cause a lifter tick like sound. All my hydraulic lifters felt stiff so I think they are fine.
in pretty much 25 years I never had a issue lol lifter only mate to the cam lobe lol and that is only true for a flat tappet camshaft, roller cams don't care what lifter goes where if you re-use them = push rods don't care lol where they go
i have a 99 silverado and i hear a very faint knocking noise under the hood and i always rev it because it’s straight piped and being young i like to hear it, but do you think that the knocking is a push rod? from possibly reving it too much?
Hey buddy how about putting the rocker back on? I’m having a similar issue an got my new rods in but am scared I’m going to tighten the rocker to much before being able to crank an get a fine tune adjustment
Are all pushrods supposed to sit at same level? I took my intake manifold off and i seen 3 of my pushrods bottom base is pushed up instead of laying flush.. and just happens to be the ones that don’t spin freely… plzz help
Diagnosed problem, you are awesome, keep making videos, helped me a bunch!!! 1978 f100 4.9L

I really appreciate this, Iv been looking all over how to tell and see if one is bent, i have a 2010 Camaro SS and i think this might be the prob

Yes it would cause that issue
Helpful
Glad to hear that
I was always told to keep the pushrods separate so you could put them back on the same lifter. You've mixed them all up. What gives?

Thank you friend. Wondering! I have popping from carb when acclerate would bad push rod cause? Ty
it could cause that, but usaly poping from carb is due to timing or a worn camshaft
Thanks for the lesson. Well done.
Glad you liked it!
Great video! Where’s that accent from?
accent? I have a accent?

could be, but also alot of things can cause a knock sound in the engine

Wish I would’ve found this before I put everything back together.
Hopeful you found this video helpful
How'd the truck sound when the push rod bent and blew through the rocker arm?
lots of chatter, and a dead miss
Are all pushrods supposed to sit at same level? I took my intake manifold off and i seen 3 of my pushrods bottom base is pushed up instead of laying flush.. and just happens to be the ones that don’t spin freely… plzz help
They are compressed i think u have to turn the motor of by hand
Since you have them out might is well just replace them with chromoly made.
Great advice
I got 318 dodge V8 and the rocker and push rod dont move at all. Could it be what? Rod or lifter or cam? What should I do?
it could be a timing chain broke, came flat, or bad lifter, if they all dont move, could be a broke timing chain
What is the torque spec going back in
you don't use torque spec on a SBC stock rockers you half to adjust for the lash
THANK YOU FOR THE INFO...JERMAINE BEETLEJUICE FROM TULSA OKLAHOMA
Just roll back an fourth in the glass
its that simple
What is the accent, just curious.
accent?
I have left next time
that what the push rod said to the rocker arm
