- Rob had heard about - and discovered - this lost ITV News interview with mysterious graffiti artist Banksy. It was filmed at Turf War exhibition in London. Interview rediscovered 2019. This video has had well over half a million views worldwide on all platforms.
Plot twist...that's Sacha Baron Cohen.
Plausible....wow

A lady from New Zealand who travelled to the US and purchased 2 Banksy arts on the street of NYC. She bought both for $60 and though many passerby and nobody bought the paintings. When Banksy confirmed it was real on their website, the lady decided to sell it off at auction in the UK for $200,000!!! It was said that normal paintings sell it off the street people won’t buy them but when it was framed and exhibit, it became valuable and the crowds goes along with it.
Why on EARTH would you sell the real ones do cheap????
@@grazutissmith9647 it was one of Banksy’s stunts where he had a nobody on the street selling his originals as “spray art” for cheap. The stunt showed that people will not pay for art without the name brand attached to it
Also it was right infront of this huge museum at the central park. It shows that people would pay millions and millions for stuff from a museum. But if an artist sells his work without a name on the street, even 20 dollars are to much for some people.
@@grazutissmith9647 banksy poser
@@wonder_9315 well yeah I’m not buying rip off street art from the 50th banksy art stand I’ve seen regardless of price. Any other time it would have just been another street vendor selling the same cookie cutter art stall after stall.
Has anyone ever thought about some paintings not being from banksy, and there might be friends of banksy helping him do paintings, what if it's actually a group called banksy, not a person?
Banksy is a person however he does have a team that sets up his exhibitions and lawyers who covers his legalities.
in his new film that dude ben with the stars on his head said they started off doing work together, no reason y they wouldn't still work as a team. they did all the Palestine stuff together
@@stevenARTify So they are like the anonymous group however its from one mind and its art.
Yes many people have thought that
@Just another bod on the internet Pay attention to what???
Same eyes as Robert Del Naja who also exhibits very similar styled art for Massive Attack. Case closed
I thought so too but the voice doesn't sound like his.
A lot of people say it is Robin Gunningham or Rob "3D" Del Naja. Many believe there's no one person who is Banksy and that it's a collective of artists.
What you CAN be sure of is "3D" knew Banksy from when he ran with the DryBreadZ Crew (DBZ) as part of the graffiti scene in Bristol, and I've heard people say that a lot of Banksy art shows up where Massive Attack happens to be touring. The Sunday Times was certain enough that in August 2018 they published that "Gunningham began employing the name Robin Banks, which eventually became Banksy. Two cassette sleeves featuring his art work from 1993, for the Bristol band Mother Samosa, exist with his signature."
After watching 'Interview With Massive Attack's 3D on His Graffiti Art in 1980's Bristol' and seeing the style of stencils he was doing in the mid 80s, I'm personally convinced it's him...
Would you rather know Banksy’s identity or anonymously enjoy a lifetime of his art?
as tempting as discovering his identity is and always will be, i must say the latter; the anonymity is a part of his art
i'd rather laugh at banksy being a toy with no-skill stencils and stolen artwork
@@rabaldar9269 Then he can laugh at you for being a poor fool. Wishing you could be him 🤣
@@marywest1230 yeah cause his motivation is money lol, you don't know shit about graff culture, banksy doesnt even have a handstyle
@@rabaldar9269 Yh lol I just watched the graffiti wars documentary and my respect for him has gone down
I personally feel like his art would lose value if people knew who he was
Can't be that good then
Yes his art would go from selling for $12 million for one art work to $6million..
the hidden idenity is part of the art.
@@muri4298 That's how far the bar has lowered, lol.
Already know😎
Yes that's him. Watch his film exit through the gift shop, he does a lot of interviews with his voice pitched down. If you pitch the voice down in the clip it's identical to his film.
They still not sure if this is him or its one of his associates.. he has like 5 associates. I like the anonymity and his art in this cameras-everywhere-toxic media-age. And also, why would Banksy show his eyes? when you see the eyes - thats already an identity reveling. Identity means 95%-100% hidden face. I don't believe this media.
@@artgallery7376 You've got to remember that all of these interviews are before he got as famous as he is now. He didn't know back then that he would be as iconic as he is. There's no way he planned it this far in advance to plant associates. He could never have known back then that he would be as big as he is now. For all he knew, he could have been forgotten within a year. These are him in the interviews. We still don't know who he is, so it doesn't really matter. We just get a better idea of what he looks like.
@@multiversefootball5900 The way you said it... makes a total sense. I also love that you said that we don't know him as a person ( he can be someone like Vendetta or just a protestor or even angel that fights for humanity against governments.. you never know:) ). What we have now is: we know his an artist and " We just have a better idea of what he looks like ".
If you pitch all voices down they all sound the same
@@mikedup5399 Wrong
"Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable." -Banksy If youre a fan of banksy read his books.
The guy in this video is clearly Robert Del Naja from Massive Attack. That doesn't mean he's Banksy though. We dont know if he's one person or several.
That's Robert Del Naja from Massive Attack. Another member of Massive attack just stole a Banksy in broad daylight, the Black guy who used to be a member, not Daddy G or Tricky the other guy. That's him in the red jacket recently stealing the Banksy stop sign. The Banksy thing is obviously a Massive Attack side project.
This is definitely a decoy Banksy, it's Del Naja covering his face.
That's the visionary artist Pranksy. His work is so abstract that it only exists in your imagination.
I almost blew it. Ahhh to be young again.
he did blow it🤣
He’s gorgeous from
What I can see of him.
Somewhere I have some 35mm pictures of some Banksy originals around Bristol when I was on vacation (holiday) there in 2000. I talked to a talk skinny guy that was spray painting on a wall with some stencils... We agreed on the military industrial complex and he told me about trying to wake people up with art.
Having seen massive attack at Eden Project a while ago at the height of the hysteria over Rob & Banksy, they mocked the connection to Banksy but the visuals were absolutely done by him that night. After the show they gave out this zine called Living with war that once again, had many of the anarchist leanings of Banksy and could easily have been made by him.
The last visuals of the night had a bizarre 3D mapping on Robs face where he wore this collage of war criminals and he tore this newspaper off as if to say "yeah I'm him, what you gonna do".
It was either masterful trolling or blatantly laughing in the face of the press and it's media circus, but using that moment to highlight the wrongs of the world
Don't most people live their lives anonymously?
Long live 👑King Robbo👑
it's either del naja, or del naja is one of the banksy decoys. but either way del naja is involved with banksy, that's literally his visage right there
It's 100 percent him.
Ok, so I found a photo of Robert Del Naja where his side profile matches the side profile of Banksy in this video. I turned both images into black and white images and adjusted the contrast levels so both images had roughly the same appearance. I then placed the photo of Robert over Banksy and I have to say the likeness of the two is remarkable. In my opinion Robert Del Naja is the person in this video. A couple of key give aways are the shape of the eyebrows, Robert has the same sharp angled eyebrow. The visible bridge of the nose is exactly the same and he also has the same shadowing in the left corner of the right eye. In this video it appears that Banksy has light brown eyes and in many photos of Robert his eyes appear darker. However, I found a few where the colouration looks about the same. His face appears to be narrow like Roberts too. Seriously, if you have a program like photoshop, try the same and you'll see the uncanny likeness. I have tried to find a similar profile picture of Robin Gunningham but I couldn't find one to do the same. I did find an image of the two guys together and Roberts face still seems to be a better match than Robin's. I also read somewhere that Banksy got his name from playing as a goalkeeper, his team mates called him Banksy after Gordon Banks. So, not only is Robert a music and creative genius he is a huge football fan and also artistic director for Forrest Green Rovers. Guys, for me this all starting to add up! Or Maybe another theory could be that the two Robs work together and are both part of the Banksy collective as Epic Ethan points out?
Blek Le Rat is the original & true innovator! As clever as Banksy is, he is Blek Le Rat 2.0!
@@k-gee5597 pretty tru, but, can’t bag on Banksy like that
Except that 3D has blue eyes and Banksy has brown eyes. Find a good (modern) photo of Del Naja and you will find out by yourself.
Yeah not him. Robert Del Naja has blue/grey eyes and they wouldn't look brown like this under the light. I agree they have similar facial features otherwise. However, their voice is also different in interview.
@@domtekos7761 theory: might be contacts? 🤷♀️
Imagine being a Banksy "experts" 😂
Imagine failing to be a dick because you suck at English.
They're clearly an art historian or media studies person. A lot more boring than some silly yob that's just really obsessed with banksy, going on the internet, finding banksy videos, leaving inane comments with dumb emojis.
If there is money involved, there will be experts involved
Where/ how can you see the full interview?
Banksy is Del Naja from Massive Attack. No mystery. Everyone knows that in Bristol.
I heard he’s also Batman
Lmao... the interviewer tryna take credit 😂
Well they do say he comes from Bristol, and that guy has a Bristolian accent.
The journalists describes him as around 28, in 2003.
The guy from Massive Attack was 38 then.
Del naja was born in 65
I'm from the south west and was part of that scene for a good many years. I got to know a lot of folks through the the Wild Bunch sound system parties. Banksy is no one individual, its a collective of graffiti artists based around Bristol, blokes such as Inkie, Cheo , Del Naja and many others. A few people are asking if this is Del Naja, it's not him.
Sure he’s not Bigfoot buddy?
And yet in reality you are full of shit and have no idea.
For some reason I had it in my mind that one of the guys from massive attacks was Banksey.

Del Naja’s eyes are greyish green and so are the guy’s in the video. Also look at the eyebrow shape, it’s unmistakable.
It's Robin Gunningham.
@@89eyes Definitely, I'm second guessing myself 🙃
He looks like 3D of 1998 not 2003. In 2003 era mv Butterfly Caught was released, look mv. Robert has shot hair. tho it’s creepy that this guy has same brows. Kinda unique. I’d say it’s Robert fooled journalists for some purpose but not in 2003. Maybe they messed up with the years. In Exit movie it’s not definitely Del Naja, if to watch 156890 of his interviews and performances you can easily recognise his gestures, body, hands. In Exit it wasn’t 3 D but this man looks like baby Robert
Banksy is a baddie 🔥
Those eyes 😍
16 years ago 16:3 aspect ratio? I don't think so...all 2003 common videos are 4:3
New concept called "zooming" (0:43 it's 4:3)
+ there were 16:9 videos in 2003
It looks like 3 D from Massive Attack. Goldie slipped up in an interview and called him Rob. Everywhere Massive Attack play a Banksy appears .

Just incase anyone’s bothered it really is Robin Gunningham. So, yeah, have fun.

Un joven Robin Gunningham
In todays generation of constant cameras and eaay access media, its astonishing that Banksy has remained a mystery.

This guy trying to take all the credit loll
It does make sense given the "hit and run" style for the street art.
Robert Del Naja?
I know him. He works a in Tesco.
Wait what 🤣🤣
Kenny Wilks......? From Robbo vs Banksy....???????! Who knows?
Anyway....
NOT HIM. Sorry fans. Lazarides admitted in an interview they would "plant decoys etc to play with the media. Also its well known when Banksy has completed a piece or exhibition he "fucks right off" and Never hangs around. ( good piece by a journalist who covered the " cans festival" think it was for the Daily Mail)
Also for some who know. This guy looks nothing like him. Yes same accent but I guess lots of people from Bristol might sound similar lol
Dude of course they're gonna be different this was 20 YEARS AGO
Robert looking good with jumper on his face.
Robert Del Naja is Banksy
Compare his voice to the banksy rare interview from 95 video and it’s the same voice
I bet every letter it's somebody's name. And one by one they go with their stencils. One by one following each other as they get done. Putting one stencil over the other. Not 1 person can sit there and do that. Great of artwork and not get caught.
I thought this had been wiped ffs!🤣👍💯💯💯
Del naja a ingles well 🤔
Bristol is... goodness gracious
@1:25 blue check, now compare with the check in this clip @1:33 czcams.com/video/QAjSITNfh5k/video.html (same style). Also I can say, this type of check is very rare for a street artist or graffiti artist to do!?
@Proud Conservative Well, it’s suspiciously similar, looking at it from a sought of ‘handwriting experts’ view!
What's similar about it? What "type"?
@@someman7 I’m a graffiti artist from the 80’s / 90’s, from London, and have worked with some of the pioneer’s. In this regard I would qualify myself to a degree, a handwriting expert would be useful on this.
Time hampers my opinion, as an artist you change and improve with time, Banksy’s work of the parliament, is in my opinion, a masterpiece, and his level has reached, maybe as high as an artist can imagine.
In my opinion the probability of the two individuals being the same is 55% at best 65%, based on my observations and I have not looked into the issue in detail. Chequered work from 3D seen on youtube, can also be seen on an animal, was it a pig or cow, from Banksy, I don’t recall? Then you have the spraycan from Banksy, seen in the war with King Robbo, that resembles closely to the spraycan found on the record cover of 3D’s.
I hope this interests you, and please search to make your own conclusion.
There is also a ‘fame factor’, 3D is good on fame and PR stunts as all famous people, Banksy is clever on how he ‘gets up’, or presents himself. By this I mean, throughout Banksy’s career, he has shown tactical progression ie; where and when he places his art, this behaviour would match someone like 3D in my opinion, but there are allot of famous people out there!
I’d also like to add, I think it’s a nice thing, that he remains anonymous. This mentality comes from the graffiti world, nether the less, my opinion is unbiased!
Just pull the sweatshirt from his face.
Why would they
@@gloomiy Why wouldn't they?

It's Robin Gunningham. There was a convincing exposé by The Mail On Sunday in 2008, and further evidence was found in a geotagging study by the Queen Mary University of London in 2016.
Why do people keep commenting this false copy&paste reply? So outdated!!! Its literally Del Naja right there in the interview- its not to say thats truly THE Banksy himself; Lol!
