I am a 48 year Old white country boy who has been an Elvis fan my entire Life. Then I stubbled across this video. David just made me cry like a baby. The thought of the way things use to be like and older family I have lost. This man has so much talent. God I wish he was still with us.. God Called him home. He knew David was tired.. I thank God for this video.
I am also white and country. I agree that the Temptations were the greatest that ever lived, and there will never be anyone as great as David Ruffin. The only contender would be Elvis.

David Ruffin was a superb vocalist even until near the end of his tragic life. He could emote lyrics as virtually no other lead vocalist could, and he could draw you into the soul of what he was singing as no one else could. Add to that was the fact that he could 'move' on stage, and with the other Temptations leaving you wanting more and more of his soulful voice. RIP, David
I'm a '71 baby and really grow up on all Motown music but I love The Temptations. There's still some old Temptations songs I'm sure I haven't heard. Just love Motown Music

I saw the The Temptations in 1965, at the RKO Proctors Theater in Newark, NJ. What a time in history for music...what a group. I was 14 years old. I went with 4 of my friends. We were the only white people in the audience. It changed my life.

My dad bought a cd player in 85...he bought 2 CDs. The temptations and the 4 tops. He died in 86. I listened to this song all the time on that big radio until I didn't miss him. I learned every word to all the temptations' songs on that CD. Thank you for sharing this.

Growing up with Motown I never ever heard any comments that
Mr. David Ruffin had a bad voice or lost his voice. His voice reaches to all the temptation songs legacy that I also never ever heard one person say his voice got bad due to drugs from what people are saying in some comments. On the contrary they new his voice was undeniably gifted and unique but to manage him according to Motown was the only issues. His voice along with Eddie Kendricks are unique and stand alone. They both had top hits without the temptations we can all agree to and that's something that we all know and love. For me cause his voice is so David Ruffin like Marvin Gaye even Smokey Robinson's voice. No one can out do them their iconic and have and will continue to stand the test of time. Mr. David Ruffin/ Eddie Kendricks both of you R.I.P.

David was great on his last tour during April/May 1991.I saw him on 3 separate nights and he didnt miss a beat.
Apparently he didnt miss a show the whole tour.They all were so welcoming after the show inviting photo`s and even letting people sit in the Limo !

Wow, what a treat to see this for the 1st time. I grew up listening to The Temptations & singing their beautiful songs & harmonies since the 60's. Just hearing David's unmistakable & dynamite voice gets me choked up. Of course, Eddie, David & Dennis were all extraordinary frontmen for The Tempts & will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace my brothers.

It is very hard to watch this. David would die not long after. He is my all time favorite Temptation and it's disheartening to know that he never was able to shake his drug addiction. But despite this, he never lost his voice. It only got better and stronger. Simply amazing. Rest peacefully, David. I love you dearly.

Otis is the one that kept the band together,, Dennis isn't even an original member.. and the temptations your seeing here are the second temptations that David and Eddie formed while Otis and Melvin kept the other temptations going.. so at one time in history they're were 2 temptations bands

Ever since then he's helped the Temptations reached a whole new levels of Super Stardom especially when he and Eddie Kendrick sung the Group's Hit Songs My Girl, Ain't Too Proud To Beg, The Way You Do The Things You Do, Get Ready,( I Know) I'm Losing You, You're My Everything, I Wish It Would Rain, It's Growing, Since I've Lost My Baby, Beauty's Only Skin Deep, All I Need, I Could Never Love Another (After Loving You) However When Eddie Sung Just My Imagination being his last song he lefted off Stage after the house lights Dimmed and never looked back. When David and Eddie were Solo Artists they had fantastic Hits like never before and believe me fans we're chasing them down the street like crazy. However Eddie had two number Hits for Motown David had Hits like crazy.
The hair on my arm stand on end when David Rufin sings, what a voice. There will only ever be one despite the many that followed him as Lead with the Temps. Dennis did a great job but in a different way. Eddie - well his sweet falsetto is unmistakable and pure silk. Rest in Peace Gus thankyou for your music, it changed my life in so many ways.

These men made up the lead vocalist for 98% of all the hits that the Temptations had..... I don't know anything about the breakup of the group, but throughout the whole 30+ years these men and all the rest were legendary for the music they made and memories that they left us with.

There are many Talented people with drug and/or alcohol problem. Their "demons & struggles" didn't killed the group, it brought the group to the forefront, to the front burner for people to witness.
David's unique voice, Eddie's graceful voice, Paul's soulful voice comes from the soul, it comes from pain and hard times. People use drugs as a remedy to ease life's pain, people, anybody, talented or not resort to drug or alcohol usage during time of darkness. ...

You can't just go by what you seen in the movie, you gotta read Otis' book and listen to what the others have said. Dennis said that after they fired David and hired him, David was sneaking into their concerts and jumping on stage and actually they was gonna let him back in the group and fire Dennis until David skipped out on them for another gig. So they had no choice but to fire him for good! And on Paul they had him on payroll when he could no longer perform as a consultant till he died.
