Many months have passed us by
(I´m gonna miss you)
I´m gonna miss you, I can´t lie
(I´m gonna miss you)
I´ve got ties, and so do you
I just think this is the thing to do
Maybe you´ll meet, you´ll meet another guy
Understand me, won´t you try, try, try, try, try, try, try
Let´s just kiss and say goodbye (Goodbye)

I cry every time I play this. I’m 81.. it takes me back over 40 years and it still tears me up, but I find myself going back
ÁNIMO Y BUENA SUERTE, QUE DIOS TE BENDIGA Y QUE ESTA CANCION TE TRAIGA GRANDES RECUERDOS, COMO A LA MAYORIA DE LOS QUE LA ESCUCHAMOS. MEGASALUDO DESDE GUANAJUATO MEXICO. 🥊🥊🥊🥊🥊
Understandable but you made it to 81! That’s a blessing Ms. Judie, hold on to the memories n make some more! ❤❤❤
God bless you!

Cherish it. ❤. I’m happy you are feeling this nostalgia. It’s like wine 🍷
1976 this hit our charts... I was 32. It still stirs my soul. We were so lucky, we were young people during one of the best eras of music.
Generation X kid here, born June 18, 1967. I loved the 1970's! Hello from Tyler Texas U.S.A.
I was 8 years old ... I learned to slow dance to this song and to roller skate dance ...
Total y absolutamente de acuerdo 💫
Was the best era for soul music.
How many of us watched soul train ……
@@johnjohnson2855 I was barely able to watch it. Was born in the early part of 84
I am 77 years old and this can still make me cry. So many memories. Where did it all go?
The dear aged 77 Ronald T Myles of 1977 and shortly before or after needs to share some of those memories with the rest of us who are unfortunate enough not to have experienced those times ... he needs to come from that 'deeper-and-higher-place' ... of what was going on back then in those times ... he needs to deliver a 'history lesson' in a way that will only be appreciated.
Look around you and you'll realize it's all in there in your mind. I too wonder where the time has gone. Good thing I have some things that continue to remind me of those wonderful times. No regrets except on. Donna.

Hey brother/sister been there! Appreciate every moment, every tear, every smile, every laugh. Bc in the end it's all we have. Love life and it'll love you back! Blessings to you and your family ❤️
Congratulations on the new baby. Introduce them to this Era of music😊
Congratulations for your baby, yes this music is so great ¡¡

who's listening to the Mighty Manhattans with me right now ?
First time I heard this song in South Africa, was on radio station called Metro FM ,Thank you Treasure Tshabalala for introducing us to the legendary kings of soul , im still listening from Russia
I am from south Africa and listening from California.
In 1976 I was a 12 year old kid living on an Army base in Bamberg Germany. There was this black kid named Kurt Thomas and his friends that were older than me, that turned me onto The Manhattans and this song.....I thought it was the greatest song ever or at least one of them!! I taught myself to sing it and it saved this middle eastern American when ever I was in a jam with 'being in the wrong neighborhood' etc....the black dudes loved and still love this song too! If I was in jail etc, all I had to do was sing and other guys would ask me to sing other songs! But other than the Chanters in my church {I'm Eastern Orthodox}, it was this song [among others] that started my musical path in life....In other words, today I play blues harp and I sing because of my introduction to the bluesy songs Kurt introduced to me! Another great bluesy song from this period that I remember well, was called 'Misty Blue' by Dorothy Moore, but you know that already, right?!!😉
Wowwww Nice....let Just Kiss and say God bye....
I was 12 too...September....
that's one of the best tales of overcoming adversity I've read.
👍
It's so cool we all have memories with this song. One of my favorites. I was in middle school, didn't quite get this song till years later...a little too good. But now as a mature woman watching this, only great memories, but I see in the lead singer's eyes, face, every facial crevice says he's lived this song. Beautiful. And LOVE Misty Blue!🥰❣👍🏼
I was in Bamberg 1979
It's amazing that people are STILL listening to this incredible song!! What a true classic!!
Nothing decent to listen to now..
Till the day I die. I love this music.
Me too! Always gets me in my feels.
Eu só as músicas lindas do passado,as letras são muito lindas porque as de hoje poucas se salva.

It's been 13 years since my Dad left us and I've been playing this song every time I visit and dreamt of my Dad coz' I know he loves this song!
This kind of music will never come around again. I suppose that's what makes it so great.

"‘Kiss and Say Goodbye’ by The Manhattans is a timeless masterpiece. The perfect blend of a smooth, poignant melody with deeply emotional lyrics creates an unforgettable musical experience. The vocal performance is simply sublime, full of soul and sincerity, capturing the pain and beauty of farewell perfectly. Every note and every word is delivered with such passion that it's impossible not to be moved. The harmony between band members is exceptional, and the production of the song enhances every detail, creating a rich and immersive atmosphere. This song is a true testament to The Manhattans' talent and artistry. A classic that continues to touch hearts throughout the decades."

What a blessing to be a young man in the 70"s. The music that came out of that era will never, ever be topped. It seems like each and everyday a new great song was released. Songs like this one are great because they have without a shadow of a doubt stood the test of time.

I am so grateful to have been born when I was. Being a child in the 70s was an absolute treasure. These LEGENDARY groups left the world with not only beautiful music but wonderful memories associated with it. Sometimes it's hard for me to listen to these songs, or look thru the photo album books, as a feeling of nostalgia comes over me. Although many family members have passed on, I will always have BEAUTIFUL memories of being a little girl during the 70s. AWESOME CHILDHOOD MEMORIES.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Lyrics
This has got to be the saddest day of my life
I called you here today for a bit of bad news
I won't be able to see you anymore
Because of my obligations, and the ties that you have
We've been meeting here everyday
And since this is our last day together
I wanna hold you just one more time
When you turn and walk away, don't look back
I wanna remember you just like this
Let's just kiss and say goodbye
I had to meet you here today
There's just so many things to say
Please don't stop me till I'm through
This is something I hate to do
We've been meeting here so long
I guess what we done, oh, was wrong
Please darlin', don't you cry
Let's just kiss and say goodbye (goodbye)
Many months have passed us by
(I'm gonna miss you)
I'm gonna miss you, I can't lie
(I'm gonna miss you)
I've got ties, and so do you
I just think this is the thing to do
It's gonna hurt me, I can't lie
Maybe you'll meet, you'll meet another guy
Understand me, won't you try, try, try, try, try, try, try?
Let's just kiss and say goodbye (goodbye)
I'm gonna miss you, I can't lie
(I'm gonna miss you)
Understand me, won't you try?
(I'm gonna miss you)
It's gonna hurt me, I can't lie
(I'm gonna miss you)
Take my hankerchief, wipe your eyes
(I'm gonna miss you)
Maybe you'll find, you'll find another guy
(I'm gonna miss you)
Let's kiss and say goodbye, pretty baby
(I'm gonna miss you)
Please, don't you cry
Understand me, won't you try?
(I'm gonna miss you)
Let's just kiss
And say goodbye

When I was a child my father played all blues. I couldn't help but to listen because he took me everywhere he went. To his job, his riding around, His shopping with my mother, and even to gambles homes(made me set in the car), fishing, ballgames, weslting matchers, everywhere. I got so hooked on blues when R&B hit it was my music until today. I am 73.
Im honestly jealous of everyone born in the 70s. They experienced and listened to golden songs like this😭😭 Im 18 years old and I have to say that old school music is the best. It's music that gives you tingles when listening to it😊

Are you listening now? So you don't have to be jealous. Enjoy in your time. Be happy don't worry....
Old soul, new body.
Back then they did not have ear pieces in there ears like they do today. They knew the songs.
I wonder who had the privilege of experiencing the 70s/80s, where they had the best musical phase of all history, thank God I was born in 1967. I respect those who came after these decades, but forgive me, this generation of today needs to know these artists who composed songs that marked history forever. From this generation, the best performers, composers, musicians and producers stood out. Today we are living in the digital age where the deficiencies of an original recording are corrected by editing software, we have more synthesized material than human. It remains to be hoped that today's compositions return to the style of vintage songs, otherwise we will only be doing an MP3 re-reading of old songs.
I made sure my kids listened to this. 70,80s rock , country. They are as eclectic as I am. X rapp though. Sorry it isn’t music. 1967 👍🏼🎵 Best year of all

So eine Musik bleibt immer, seit über 50 Jahren, kann man gar nicht vergessen
My late dad used to play these kinda songs & got me hooked even though I'm more of a punk/hardcore listener. These classics will never fade. Thanks old man...
so nice you listened to them with him. i still play some 40's music and remember my daddy.
route51 my daughter use to complain about my old school music until one day I found it missing and it was in her room 👌

Music that still touches my soul after 40 years and always with a tear that rolls down my cheek!
Tell us more about your life history!

Beautiful. I am 64. Bringing back all the memories. I remember this cassette I was given by my boyfriend on the day we broke up. I miss him though. 🌹❤️🌹
They don't make music like this anymore. Where did the romance go. The young people don't dance slow jams anymore. Thank God I grew up in that time. I have the good memories.
Already
You don't even need to be able to carry a tune these days. It's all fixed electronically
Amen to that...
yup for sure
Romance? He's singing to his side b**** that he can't keep f****** her anymore because of the ties that he has and navigation she has when I didn't stop him from f****** her first place and he's saying I guess what we done was wrong and he only wanted to turn around a look at them when she is leaving that's cuz he don't want to see her dumbass looking at him while he is laughing at her the stages song is about Romance is that song on he's f****** around with his old lady and he's telling this b**** today can't fuk around and more cuz he done moved on to next and how many times he's done this before that rap he gots to smooth he's been doing this for a minute but you call a romance if you want
