Similar issue with my last build. The mobo was a h510 board so only two slots. Installed two DIMMS. No post. Installed only one dimm, It would post with only one particular slot. Thought the mobo had a faulty slot or something was faulty with my CPU memory channel as i bought it used and untested at a steal price.
Removed the cpu to for a quick inspection and to check for bent pins in socket. Everything seemed fine so i reinstalled the cpu and reseated the cooler and VOILA! Problem solved. System posted with 2 DIMMS.
Did an online reseach. Turned out reseating the cooler solved the issue. Uneven pressure when tightening the cooler can cause the cpu not to be seated properly and thus not making proper contact with socket pins and as a result simulate symptoms of a dead cpu memory channel.
Always ensure to not overtighten the cpu cooler. Proceed in an X pattern and equal tightening torque on all screws. Give it a try if u facing similar problem.
I was confused for a second because when I saw the thumbnail I thought it was a Greg Salazar video.
He is the man! But hopefully you liked mine!
@@PCTechHustle of course, good job.
sometime whit the heat ,,, the gold metal contacts get loose.... and i dont see any front ventilation puting fresh air into the case .
Never understood why bloggers think it’s good to add background music to these videos, especially on troubleshooting or how-to. Everyone that is watching these videos most likely have an issue and adding distracting unnecessary background music makes it very difficult to follow along. Aside from the music, you have an otherwise good video.
Sorry? I mean... the music is at -35db... Thanks for watching anyway :)
Good troubleshooting. Probably would have run a memtest to verify no errors too, but probably overkill.
Yeah in hindsight I should have done that for sure!
And check the event viewer for memory issues once bootable again. Would have thrown a code for sure I would think
Glad to see I'm not just stupid for thinking that. I don't know much about fixing PC's, just swapping some parts now and then, but stress testing things that get flaky helps find intermittent problems.
Great content, you got a new subscriber !
Thanks so much!
Just built a brand new PC and I ran into the same issue which led me here. It doesn't post at all. I have an MSI X670 board and I get the post code 00, a red light for the CPU, and a yellow light for the DRAM. There's also a burning smell that I cannot pinpoint the origin of, but the AIO pump does make a very faint clicking sound like it's not getting enough power so maybe its burning itself out.
Even if an AIO is burning out it shouldn’t prevent a bootup. There should be some native heat transfer that in theory should allow it to run. If it’s shutting off quickly after bootup then I would say it indeed is the cooling solution but seems like something else is going on here. Feel free to join my discord and me and others can help work you through this!

awesome vid! I am here to follow up, is that pc still doin good? 😁
Thanks! As far as I know it’s going just fine! I haven’t heard from the customer since I gave it back.
this man deserve so much more!
Thanks so much!
Had this same issue with my Asus Z790-E turned out the motherboard didn't like the corsair 6200 memory Modules , yes the strange things magic things with the Bios or could be dirty contact pins who knows the land of computers for you
Where’d you get your foam hexagon panels from?
Amazon. Elgato wave panels:

When installing memory I think you're supposed to clear the cmos after the new DIMMS are in place. Am I right? Im learning as I go.
No you shouldn’t have to do that. Maybe if there is some kind of issue like this possibly. RAM honestly for the most part should just work if it’s nothing extreme on the clocks, etc.
@@PCTechHustle Truee. I think I did it just to avoid any hassles cause I was replacing the stock ram my system had with some clean looking rgb ram lol.
@@PCTechHustle What do you need to clear the cmos for then? Does doing that reset the mobo's stats back to default?
Depends on the situation. Clearing cmos generally helpful when troubleshooting to reset motherboard to default values.
im sorry to bother you but i really need this , i want to overclock my ryzen 5 3400g on gigabyte b450m ds3h i dont find cpu vcor to undervolt it , there is manual overclocking option there i need to put cpu voltage and frequnecy do you recommend me to use it ?
You might find this video I have done on just that helpful: czcams.com/video/riXzwWLX_Hk/video.html
@@PCTechHustle I really appreciate it
There was a know BIOS issue w/ AMD boards when upgrading from 3K to 5K CPU's. Happened to me, had to flash the new BIOS, fixed it, easy peasy
Yep that was early on when the 5000 series Ryzen chips were getting released. The issue with the PC was not that though. Seemed like some fault / dirt with RAM interfacing with the motherboard.
I had the same issue before and I've seen this issue a lot from other people too.
I tried swapping the slots and it would work. But then it failed so I had to use 1 RAM, then won't post again till I couldn't use my PC at all/
I bought a new motherboard thinking that would fix it because I thought I had bad dimm slots but it turned out that cleaning the RAM with an eraser would fix the thing.
Thanks for the input! Yes I too have also had issues like this before where the dimm slots might have accumulated dirt, etc and causes a dimm to stop working. It makes perfect sense if you think about it
Bios update. I've seen a problem like this on Greg Salazar's channel. A bios update fixed it.
My motherboard RGB light is on aswell as my gpu has 2 white lights on but if i press my power switch nothing happens any help please
I also put in a new 32gb kit of ram aswell as a new nvme and also a rog strix 360 aio
Installed the new windows played a few cod games
After switching pc of it wont start back up if i press the power switch
It dis this prior to me replace the storage and ram
I installed new thermal paste
And also a new psu 750 w
Specs is a ryzen 5 3600xt
Rtx 2060 super strix edition
32gb 4133mhz ram
1tb nvme
750w psu
Asus strix b450f gaming mobo
Should I buy one of those Chinese $60 motherboards. I'm buying a 4th gen intel cpu. (The mobo won't allow allow overclocking)
Those can be a bit of a gamble. I’ve actually been wanting to check one out
Always happy to see new vids from you man! And I actually just built myself a brand new rig a week ago. i5 12400 with a Hyper 212 - 32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200 - Asus B660-Plus D4 - Asus RTX 3060 Dual OC - 8.5TB storage (4.5 is SSD) - Fractal Define 7 case. About 1800 all in.
Thanks! And dang sounds like a pretty solid build you got going!!!! :)
@@PCTechHustle Yeah, it's a great rig, and the 12400 is a beast. My now secondary rig that it replaces has a Haswell-E Xeon 12C/24T, and the 6C/12T 12400 has 27% better multicore performasnce and a whopping 228% better single core performance.
And the thing I love about the 12400 most is that if you keep it well cooled it will literally never go below 4.0GHz even though the base is 2.5GHz. The 12th gen is amazing.
@@JeffWaynee Yeah 12th gen is very impressive indeed!
I got this build with a 3070 instead for 1300$ but it only has 1 TB
A good tech would of Done a scan to verify memory is good even after a conclusion was drawn.
You are right. I probably should have taken the extra step of doing a mem test. Luckily he lives close should there be any more issue.
Wow new sub gets a comment and a hart on first vid.
😉😉😉
my pc doesn’t post too, i have integrated graphics from my ryzen 5 5600G, i have a pre owned mobo. 16 go ram brand new, cpu brand new, power supply brand new. it turns on it just don’t post
actually my power supply is from my friend’s neighborhood
What ram speed are you using?
What mobo is it and what is the bios version? Most out of the box AM4 mobos need a bios update to run the 5000 series APU and some need it for all 5000 series.

my pc right now
Ryzen 1000 series is quite particular with the memory. Possibly reseating the memory probably cleared some tolerances that prevented the PC from booting. :)
Possibly!
I used to have to completely remove my RAM and reseat the sticks every three months or so with my old AMD FX board because it would just quit working. I had to do that for about three years that I had it. Was I possibly cleaning the slots inadvertently when I did this? Who knows? I have not had that problem with my Ryzen 5 setup in the two years I've had this one, knock on wood.
Yeah I’m hoping this issue doesn’t come back 😬😬😬
MemTest86+.....
You can only do that with an operating system. But a good point to run that check after.
Lol...that was funny.
DId you just switched off the PSU without shutting it down properly?
Yes, it won’t hurt anything. Might not be good to do many times over though
Okay. I get you, but come on. I always deal with customers with bad and corrupted HDD/SSD with this kind of practice.

Huh?
Dead memory channel?
BIOS update
Could be something I’ll have to come back to doing… but so far so good
