Incredible episode. People need to stop skipping over episodes that don't have that HUGE name because you think it will be boring. My rule with these pods is, get at least 15 minutes in and see if it hits you by that point. I got there and then just kept going.
They just set really high expectations with the first few episodes. So many legends on, it’s hard to keep up that pace
Facts
😂 Ryan Leaf was a huge name. Anybody who know anything would know his story would be intriguing.
Only one I didn’t watch was the E40 one
Exactly!!! Great episode
I'm glad Ryan Leaf is alive to tell this story. Addiction is a vicious cycle that hurts you & the closest ones to you. Hope someone takes the time out to watch this and learn from Ryan Leaf. Matt Barnes & Stephen Jackson did a great job conducting this interview.
Ryan is dropping so many gems in this podcast. I suffer from mental illness mainly bipolar + self-harming behavior, and learning disabilities. On top of all that, I'm homeless. But like Ryan said, wake up with a purpose. And that's exactly what I do, even if it means just making it through the day in one piece. I hope everyone out there takes some positive stuff from Ryan's story.
Ryan has been killing it on the Rich Eisen show..appreciate this one 💯
Lifelong wazzu fan. Was a freshman when Ryan took us to the Rose bowl. Watched my pops shed a tear when we beat UDub in the Apple Cup (thank you Chris Jackson, Leaf, the whole fab and fat five). Watched Leaf through it all. Never been more proud of him than we are today. Stay the course my friend. Wazzu always has your back brother. Can’t wait to see the doc.
Ryan Leaf's ghetto pass is officially reinstated, permanently. Gotta go grab his throwback & rep the man more the QB who went 2nd in the draft. He's a real 1
You never know what people go through. I got mad respect for Ryan. Keep speaking your peace Leaf💪🏽💪🏽
This was such an impactful interview. Thank you, Ryan!
I respect Ryan Leaf. By 19 mins in made him brethren🙏🏾💯🙌🏾
word
These guys deserve some type of recognition for this interview!
Bruh who ever decided to have a convo with this dude is brilliant. Outta left field and real dope
I'm from the Caribbean and I try to listen to sports content that is outside what I grew up play, so NFL content can be a bit of a stretch to absorb but I find myself glued because this dude is so sincere and I'm getting emotional and then the man's manscape ad comes on and now instead of tears and on the floor laughing. Those ads are so hilarious 😂
It's only because he is white ....y'all worship them white dudes
One of the best episodes y'all have done.
The NFL should have him at the Rookie Symposium every year... hell, even the NBA too.
F A C T S! I believe the NBA does have role models like that, but, the NFL? Not sure. Right now it seems like more NFL players go down a bad road than NBA players. Could be how Adam Silver treats his players or because there’s way less players. Not sure.
What a transformation. Inspiring to see him turn his life around. Solid, humble dude.
This was an incredible episode. I remember Ryan Leaf from Washington State he was a great college football player but his demons took his career and his life. Almost took his life. I'm glad to see he's sober he's a family man and is on the right path. Thank Stak and Matt on this episode. It was needed.
This episode is great. Thanks for letting him tell his story on your platform.
Definitely wasn't expecting the Jalen Rose comment 😂 That's awesome!
He didn’t live up to His “true potential” on the Field but it’s great that he’s doing well in life and found another purpose. Hidden Gem Interview.
Ryan Leaf a real one. fantastic interview
Saving this to watch again and again…..so glad that Ryan is on a better path.
Dope ass episode. It completely changed my view of him. WOW!!! Truly inspiring and I wish him continued success man! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Stack and Matt, I rock with you two. One of the best episodes to date. Leaf had some issues he over came
Dope episode. Ryan is so humble and honest about all he been tbrough
Great job, great story from from Ryan Leaf. The beginning of his lifestyle, to becoming an NFL star n going thru what Ryan went to in Montana, going to jail to show people how to read at the age of 50 years old n what his life was. That is an awesome interview by Ryan Leaf. Matt & Stephen, thank U again for another great show. I enjoy ur shows, u guys have a platform n what I like is it ain't like ESPN or TNT. U guys R on the real with ur guest & ur show. Fellas, keep it up man n continue to strive for more great shows. Thanks Again. God Bless!!!
Real Stuff! Great story we can all relate too. You hear all the stories about Ryan, but they all seem to fade away when you hear him talk.
As a chargers fan, this dude has my utmost respect. The way he turned himself around is amazing. Kudos to him and his family. Also, please reach out to your friends and family. Regularly
People need to understand these athletes have emotions too. Glad he got to tell his own story and let us understand how he traveled down that path.
thank u for this ep matt and stak. everybody is going through something
This was a much needed episode. Appreciate you guys dropping this episode.
I’m a big fan of Ryan Leaf!!! This was a great episode. Glad he is getting the chance to tell his story!!!
Yo EVERYONE who listens to this NEEDED to hear it - this is one of the greatest ones damn
Awesome story..Good luck Ryan. I pray and wish my brother can get out of his situation like you did. He did fell off the wagon again. He suffers from mental illness, addiction and depression. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 We just don’t know what to do as a family to help him.
this episode transcended. just incredible work, guys.
These the stories we want to hear All the smoke ✊🏿
One of your best podcasts. Thank you for having Ryan on. Thank you Ryan for sharing your story.
Damn good interview!!!
Wow! This was an amazing interview. Ryan Leaf I learned a lot about him that I didn't know outside of him getting drafted behind Payton Manning. One of the best episodes for sure.
Great story of redemption!
Emmy material. Great work. Best in sports media.
Love seeing Ryan build himself to be the person he is today! He was so young, back then; we all would have thought we were the shit too and not had the mental capacity to deal with our "bad days". Anywhere this guy speaks, just to hear his story and to have seen some of what he went through, I hope young people can listen and take some guidance from him! Bravo! Amazing conversation and epi!
One of the greatest turnarounds I've ever seen in a human being. Much respect to this guy
This is one of the best shows...hands down
Ryan Leaf is my hero
This is All The Smoke is so great! Excellent Interview!
Think I've watched every episode of this podcast up until this one. I knew most of the guests so I watched the ones I did know and watched the ones I didn't know. Enjoyed every single one. Shaht Aht from New Zealand
Great episode I felt that one for real having dealt with self-esteem issues and depression before (still fighting with it), thanks a lot to Ryan and all the smoke for bringing this to the public
Great fucking episode, always thought this guy was an asshole but hearing his story changed my perspective on him. Good fucking job guys. I hope that Ryan continues to get the help he needs and keeps inspiring others....
It always stands out to me when I hear somebody say they had a certain impression of somebody else, until they heard their life story and then thought better of them.. that should be a life lesson for us all to seek more understanding in life and try our best to understand somebody else's experiences before judging them. Peace and blessings to you
Chill out
This Episode changed my thought on him for sure
I'm proud of Ryan leaf
Sitting here next soaking wet to the toilet watching this in between vomitting.
When the nausea becomes too much I go in the shower. When that becomes too much Im back out here cold and soaking on the floor
The only thing I got rn is the hope this interview is giving me. Thanks guys
Stay strong brother. If there’s any little thing I can do to help, let me know 🙏
some deep shit right there. thanks for the episode
True definition of a come back 💯
Man you guys knock it out the BOX on this one! Hands down! Ruan Leaf keep spreading your word! God Bless Brother!
Man.. That victim word resonates deep with me. It’s so true that we lose sight of everything outside of what we may be going through. It’s a never ending self battle. Respect the testimony. Love
I needed this one. Great interview fellas.
RYAN ""ACCOUNTABILITY"" LEAF 🍃
STAK AND MATT GREAT INTERVIEW OGs.. I WONDER WHAT HAPPPEN TO RYAN.. I PRAY GOD LEADS YOUR FOOTSTEPS.. GREAT WAY TO BOUNCE BACK
Great discussion guys, thanks. Stay strong Ryan 💪 , I appreciate you sharing your story with such openness & humility.
Ryan Leaf with the Major Harris shout out! #WVU #Mountaineers
This episode made me a Ryan leaf fan
Man yall boys be doing it wit these guest. I was so not interested in RL story anymore. But I lived through his turmoil and am very much surprised to say I am glad he's got his shit together. Hope this type of redemption is extended to other Bruthas coming home, just sayin 👀.
I knew this would be good but it was absolutely fantastic
Phenomenal episode - thanks a lot guys
As someone from the UK, and not an NFL fan, I've never heard of Ryan before. But that has to be one of my favourite episodes of ATS. Speaking on life, ups and downs. Hes on his own path, as we all are ... really enjoyed that. 👏🔥
Inspiring and incredible episode 👏👏
Ryan grew up a WVU fan?!?! That's awesome GO MOUNTAINEERS!!!
This was a really good episode. I didn’t know Ryan’s story outside of football. I’ll add his show to my list of ones to check out.
This one was awesome, underrated episode!
Respect. This man has alot of knowledge. It would behoove any young athlete to listen to not hear, this man's story. From the highest highs, to the lowest lows.
Damn as someone whose been sober for 3 years after using for 10, I felt this.
One of the best interviews I've seen. Inspiring
Ryan Leaf a solid dude. Media derailed dude before he could learn to grow from mistakes.
I fw Ryan Leaf now 💯
What an interview
Such an important episode!
Probably one of the best episodes since you guys started doing this. Thank you 🙏🏼
Someday, when this show is one we look back on with nostalgia, someone is going to just randomly play one of these manscape commercials, and we will howl. Those are classics.
As a WSU alumni, thank you for this episode. 🙏
Great interview this helps me change my mindset 💯

“The guilt and shame of what I’ve done and who I’ve become and what I have to do”
That hit me. Its a long way to catch up with the caravan when you fall off
Until this day I thought Ryan Leaf was trash, this interview change my whole perception on this man. He went through a lot and did not even know it. Cutting his hair like Jalen Rose Blew My Mind!! 😂#FireInterview
Heat after heat
