My respect for Ryan Leaf is immense. He's genuine, he's honest, he's open and he's about as real as a person can get. Unlike a certain recent superstar QB, he has no qualms about owning his mistakes. And the fact he hopes his struggles can help someone else is also impressive. Leaf is truly human: a good person who has made mistakes along the way but keeps trying to be better. As always, I wish him nothing but good health and good days ahead of him.

Rich's question about stepping away due to mental health back in 1998 vs. now was excellent, and Ryan's response hit it out of the park. We really have come a long way in terms of mental health recognition and treatment since the 90s, even though to me the 90s still feel pretty recent
