I must applaud that you played the bugged Alpha 3 until Imperial, this was a 1/100 chance game on first try!! The wood thing...which is already fixed...was caused by Farms XD.

T90 i think youre on to something here. They should make First Person AoE 2 from a zoomed out perspective. Like where you can see everyone from above. I think that game could be a hit.

From above First person Age of Empires II Definitive Edition (short is FAFPAOE2DE), is a game I'd definitely played

AoE2 was the main game of my childhood, so seeing how active the modding community still is is WILD. This looks insane!

The wood glitch happens because they don't charge you for queued buildings only those that are being built. Once they start building you can go negative.
I thought it was because of reseeding the farms
@@sadiev2778 that too because they get queued up when you run out of wood too
My theory is that he was paying the wood cost of his enemies reseeding.. it happened way too random and too much considering he had like 4-5 farm, 75 wood for each, enemy had like 15 farms, he was jumping from 300 wood to -500..

Hats off to the designer(s?) of this, seriously one of the most charming fan-made game/mods i've ever seen. If this came out when i was a kid i'd have never put it down

Ive always wanted a multi-player game where one player controls armies from a birds eye view while the other player is in first person on the battle field.
So victory relies on strategy but a skilled player in first person can help turn the tide.
RenegadeX gets close with the strategy aspect (one person is the commander)

That game exists and it's called Savage and Savage 2. But it's pretty old now and I don't think anyone plays it anymore. I used to play it back in the 2000s.

If you weren't so busy casting you could be a great Let's Play CZcamsr. Your casting skills transfer easily, and this was enjoyable to watch! I'd love to see some multiplayer of this.

This is the coolest thing I've seen in a long time. The graphics and the building animation remembers me a lot like Empire Earth.
I wish this project got the atention and fundings it needs to develop and progress.
Honestly I think this could be really cool as a proper standalone game

if this fixes the glitches and reestablishes stuff like 'select all idle villager' / 'select all idle military', this could be really good
Think the map needs to be key since it's hard to select an idle villager way far away since you can't jump like in AOE2 so have all idle villagers highlighted on the map in one shade and idle military in another shade so you can go to them.
Good to see this project is alive. Reminds me a bit of Empire Earth, polygon terrain mixed with sprite assets.
I spent far too much time in Empire Earth zoomed all the way in, basically playing like this.

Your farm placement is better in this game
Graphics remind me of Empire Earth 1 and Warrior Kings Battles. Also the way the buildings rise from the ground when they are being built :D

Convince Daut to play this with you. You know it would be hilarious, on mutliple levels. If nothing else, consider this: this game mode inheritly rewards micromanagement and downplays macro.
There is a rather old game called C&C Renegade, which combines the C&C RTS with a multiplayer shooter (only talking about the multiplayer part, because the single player doesn't count). Basically, 2 teams of players where each player takes on the role of 1 "unit" in an RTS with shared resources for the whole team. That concept could also work with AoE2 and this mod. Imagine a 20 player knight rush on the opposing team or 5 ppl. jumping into a mongolian drill ram.

The funniest for me is that you have to look up for your health bar. That makes you really feel like a unit on the map. Great!

You know this is giving me so much vibes from dungeon Keeper back then you actually had a real time strategy game where you had the standard strategy map overview with controlling your units but you also had the ability to Take Over Control form a single unit and see it in a 3d perspective that is what made that game so interesting.
I love this. Can’t wait for updates on this game. This has real potential.

What this needs is a function where you can use the mouse wheel to zoom between FP view and overhead view, so you can easily zoom out to place buildings and plan maneuvers and such, then zoom down to FP to get up close and personal in the actual battles!

I'd love it if you could team up with an overlord style player, or maybe you can zoom in and out, a bit like total war but in real time
When I first discovered that AoE II had a complete remake with DD, I thought that a first person view would've being included in the game, so you could have moments of feeling of leading your army right next to them to battle, it didn't got this feature, but the overall revamp of the graphics is already good too, especially the demolition animations at least.

As someone who is writing an RPG storybook, this looks SO good and inspiring.
Not being able to build something that costs no wood because you have negative wood is hilarious. Reminds me of that old routine by Louis CK: "Negative ten dollars, that's how much I have now. [...] I wish I just had nothing, but I have less than that. [...] If it's free, I can't f***ing afford it."
t90 in a 1st person 4 vs 4 black forest would be fun to watch :)
I was expecting the daggerfall horse animation when he mounted up, ha.
I feel like this would be awesome if you could switch from 1st person to regular AOE top down view. Top down view would be for eco management and then fighting would happen in 1st person. Also hotkeys to control different armies while fighting would be awesome you could look at a certain area in 1st person and just send a squad to that location. But if there was an area that you couldn't see you could pull up your map in hand and then position your armies on the map like a field commander. The potential is there though
There is an RTS where you can go third person with your hero. Rise of Nations maybe?
Maybe going inside the TC or the Castle could give you a panoramic view of your base and enable you to control swathes of nearby units and structures.

This is basically Command and Conquer Renegade but set in Medieval Era. Because in Command and Conquer Renegade, you can "build" stuffs and shoot baddies at the same time.

I think to make this competitive you should have 3-4 people playing per normal game "player" and voice chat. Then you can start with one person microing vills, one scouting, on drushing, then later, walling, managing going opposite sides of the map etc. And of course you could team up in combat
how did you get the models to look like that? It's like daggerfall or doom in 3D but with the animation style and everything it still looks like a sprite from any angle and it's very very cool.
