Here we walk you through, step by step, how to paint your rifle. Or pretty much any piece of gear for that matter... Turn your Black Rifle into a camouflaged rifle in no time.
And the original forum post here: www.lightfighter.net/topic/pai...
The easiest way I’ve found to do both sides at once is to hang the rifle using a wire coat hanger through the muzzle device.
I've seen people do that before. My hesitation is how well I could drape the camo netting. I imagine I could hold it up decently and get a few hard lines here and there. Thanks for watching man!
I usually wrap it around and hold it snug from behind with one hand, and operate the spray can with the other. Keep the content coming, and remember, there’s no wrong way to paint a rifle.
Gotcha, I may have to try that next time. And will do!
God is good!!!!°°°°
SuperScottie3000 ...THAT is what I always do
your story about the guy painting in the parking lot just ruined my night.
Made me angry. I tend to mind my own business but I’d definitely have let the jackass know what I thought about that.
The fact that this guy was part of the occupied force of murderous cops really ruined my night!
@@GRockBlues I bet you just love the government cop dogs just fine though huh?
For anyone trying to do this now, Aervoe discontinued their camo line of paint. Gillespie Coatings and LPV seem to be a good alternatives. The "aervoe" codes that Ivan refers to are actually (mostly) FEDSTD595 codes. You can look up a FEDSTD595 reference sheet (mach dynamics has a good one) and order the same colors from places like Rapco or wherever. Rapco seems to be a bit limited but their prices are not bad, 9 bucks a can shipped for a pack of 12.
how do i paint dollar bill signs onto my hi point
Paint it solid gold
stencil
@@merkinyall lmao, a gold high point, 🤣😂😂🤣 that actually made me laugh.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
The golden hi point it come out in the next James Bond film.
My wife built her first AR. Then my heart sunk after she was adamant about doing like a purple camo pattern on it. I found the most subtle purple I could find and did like a purple, black, and white camo on it I cringed every time I was spraying. Turns out the rifle looked so dope like that. I was pleasantly surprised. Probably not very practical unless you are dredging through a meadow of lavender and purple begonias. Its one of those times where it looked so surprisingly good that I just threw practicality out the window
That is awesome!
Let’s be honest: the only two situations where having a practical and effective camo scheme would be either hunting or SHTF, but…
Your wife wouldn’t really use an AR for hunting, so that’s that.
SHTF is very improbable, at least the way we always imagined it like in post-apocalyptic dog-eat-dog world. Power changes and government change, absolutely possible, but complete breakdowns of society where laws are nullified and people are shooting each other on the streets with no consequence? Very improbable, and either way in which camo should be effective are the two least likely scenarios your wife will face with that AR.
Long story short: let her live her best life, enjoy it to the fullest, no use making everything fit the least likely scenarios when everyone else has a vested interest in keeping the status quo.
Enjoy, sounds like an awesome camo job!
My husband did a similar paint job on his Fleshlight, then proceeded to lose it in a dark musty hole....
Old video but best time of life right there, brother 😊
Love how you son was delighted to help daddy !
"some people like to do it late, I like to do it now" - nice line Sir.
Nice! The grey was surprising but it worked out and all got brought home.
Gotta love the AC/DC bumpers...
I can honestly say that you have one of the top 5 best gun channels on CZcams. Hickok45, John lovell, carry trainer, demo ranch, and Kit badger are the best of the best rock on!!!!!
I'm subscribed no doubt :)
Thank you for that, I appreciate you subscribing!
You should check out Paul Harrell, thank me later. ;o)
Fps russia is and still will be boss haha
Yeah probably not demo ranch
Gynn462 triggered over 9000 that you didn’t have Garand Thumb in that list
I FINALLY after putting it off for so long decided to paint my rifle and holy smokes it came out beautiful. I might be a little bias but I liked how it turned out 😂
It’s your rifle, you should be biased.
If you like it, then it’s good to go
Best video I've seen on painting a rifle....and I've watched a ton of them!
Now that you hit 100k subs, I went back and checked to see when I found you. Here it is, spray painting your rifle.
Hands down, best music in the YT gun world! Easy to watch vids, great paint job! 🤙🏽
Thanks man!
You got an IRL LoL out of me with the Home Depot painting story.
Enjoyed this very much, thanks! I couldn't see spending all that money to have my AR Cerakoted. I love the idea of painting it myself to look exactly how I want it. Cheers!
Best method I've see for painting an AR, patterns are blended well and unique. Great Job Kit Badger and Thanks for this tutorial.
Thanks for that Sean! I appreciate the feedback and thank you for watching.
Let me make one suggestion from a legal standpoint, especially if you've never done this before... cut a small piece of masking tape and put it over the serial number for the base coat. Then remove it before hitting it with the contrasting colors. Many of the spray paints out there can literally fill the numbers if you accidentally get too much paint in that spot. It doesn't take much to cover up the tiny black rectangle from the masking tape. But what you really don't want is law enforcement to not be able to clearly read the serial number, in case you get checked out in the field while hunting. Too many of the game wardens can be a real @$$. Other than that, great video, and one of the best I've seen on the subject here on CZcams. Keep up the good work...
That area looks really good in just the tan rifle. Almost like eastern Washington.
Looks exactly like the Sierra Nevada foothills to me.
@@TheCarver016 yep! Me too
Good thing to tape off the mag well also. Good video
I'd love to see more painting videos! They're super informative and interesting and relaxing to watch like a tacticool Bob Ross lol
Thanks. :)
Ivan is a simple man, but an upscale artist.
Lol, love it man, great info as always.
Haha, thanks man. :)
so awesome to see your son involved...you are a good dad Raymond King
Great timing as I’m painting my toys this weekend... thank you 💪🏻👊🏻💥
Awesome, glad to hear it Eric!
Ivan, your cadence is so cool and smooth, I put it on at night and I sleep like a baby. Plus I get educated by sleeping osmosis and wake up ready to bust things up, with a smooth and easy style. Hardly break a sweat.
Hahaha, thanks for that. :)
This was awesome. Thank you. Can't wait to do this my self.
I've watched a bunch of these videos. This is by far the best! Good work
Right on, thanks for the kind words.
I'm now painting every piece of gear I have🤗
It gets to be a lot of fun. I had a whole table covered in newspaper with magazines, lights, holsters, pistols... :)
Congrats on 100k my man!
Great tutorial. As for mags, I do paint them to go with the theme of each rifle I’ve camo’d..and I generally “number” them but mainly to keep up with ‘trouble’ mags: feeding issues, etc. For instance if you have 3, 4 or whatever a and start having issues you can set it aside and deal with it later..throw it away or test it further. It helps keep them separate..
Great video !
Painted my first rifle in Afghanistan after burning the handguard into my palm...it was about a 130 degrees outside. Best rifle mod ever.
Black guns get crazy hot...
Phillip thank you
Thats the secret hot summer days are the best to paint natural light is the best to see with :)
Great video. I read the same Pat Rogers article. Great to see a video on pretty much everything he said. About to paint a rifle for the first time. Thanks
Hey Colby, thanks for the kind words. Let me know how your rifle comes out. It is scary the first time but then you soon realize that you can't really mess it up. And then it is fun...
Ivan, just finished. It's beautiful. I had the perfect window as the weather was 82 this weekend. You're right you can't mess it up.
That is great man! Glad to hear it! It can be daunting to start, but then it gets to be fun. :)
Nice, simple, & Dynamite! Thanks for sharing.
No problem! It is easier and less daunting than most people think.
best rifle painting video on CZcams! thanks!
No problem, thanks for watching!
Great method and explanation. Thanks for posting it.
No problem, thanks for watching!
Tacos and gun channels are the best.
Came for the info, liked for the intro music
Great presentation and end result looks good and effective.
Thanks!
An awesome video! I really want to paint my rifle like that!
Only thing I would change is the grey.
Awesome tutorial, I've painted a rifle before, but some good tips for sure. I have a cheap mag block that has a flat, flared bottom screwed into a scrap board I use for painting. Holds the rifle about 6 inches above the board, awesome for lower parts assembly while sitting on the couch too.
Nice!
By far one of the best examples of how to paint a rifle
Thanks Michael.
Very nice result. Perfect break up for the Central California hills with grass, oaks and stone where I live. Thanks for posting
No problem and thanks for watching!
Just painted my Savage Axis .308 with the aid of your video it came out amazing ! Thanks.. I added some effects with a small weave fishing net and some old burlap. How long until the paint smell goes away? I'm afraid the hogs will smell it for miles... DSG ARMS was good to deal with the paint arrived really fast
That is great, I'm glad to hear it! As to the paint smell, it goes away in fairly short order. Give it a day at the range and it should be gone. Send a photo if you get a chance!
tara huff yeah it sure does look like the Sierra foothills.
That looks great!
Thanks Sean, I appreciate it! I enjoy painting, especially weapons and gear. :)
Awesome video, thanks for the tips and help!
No problem Christopher, thanks for watching!
Looks good. Nice job.
Thanks!
Very cool video!!
Good job bro!
Well done
I wish you had done a final close up pan of the finished rifle. With that dry grass, I would have done a random grass pattern on it with od green for the base coat and sand for the final oat over grass. Then dirtied with brown...of course, may be that is not what it looks like where you hunt. I did like the clear matte as second coat...great tip!
Check out the follow up video I did on how it wears. :)
First rule of being tacti-cool... it’s gotta look cool. Good video, as usual, glad I came across ur channel 🤘🏼
Me too Leonard, thanks for subscribing! :)
Looks good 👍 would've been nice to see close up in the shade but I can see the technique results. Thanks for sharing! Camo wrap is excellent idea! Have fun and paint those rifles, who cares as long as they work. Most importantly go get training!
Bro I love your videos found your one on security contracting (my after army idea). I'm going through them all old to new and giving them love. Your videos are amazing an real shit. I felt like you needed more videos on TFB I got so tired oh hey new video no another fucking iteration of Glock with the pretty one.
Great video im deff doing this to one my ar this weekend
Nice! Let me know how it turns out.
Great video and excellent song!
Thanks!
Just did this two days ago, turned out alright. I’m sure it’s gonna look great worn.
Awesome man! Send me a photo some time if you don't mind. kitbadger01@gmail.com
Kit Badger SENT!
I think I just might do this now. Thanks.
Glad to hear it, let me know how it comes out! If you have any apprehension, you can always try some magazines first.
Beautiful butterfly in the end ;-)
I know this video is a few years old at this point, but solid info. Aervoe is definitely the best camo spray paint I've used, especially in color options. The best way I've found to get all sides of the rifle is just tie a string through your muzzle device and hang it vertically and spin it around as needed.
Agreed on the paint Michael. I think that method of painting works good, but it depends on the stencils used, as far as pushing it while free hanging. Thanks for watching!
Excellent video, very helpful and excellently communicated, thank you 🤙🏻🇮🇪
Thanks for that!
@@KitBadger anytime brother!
Break cleaner in a pressurized can will remove oil from your gun incredibly fast.
Good tip, thanks Michael.
I don't remember who told me but I was hesitant at first but I was happy with the results.
Brake Cleaner is good for removing oil from the metal, but it will eat up rubber. Tape up your Hogue grips. Not sure what Brake Cleaner does to plastic, but I'd be careful and tape that up before using.
Non-chlorinated is less likely to damage any plastics.
@@chatnasty negative Ghost Rider... Non chlorinated seems less harsh... In reality it's way worse. The good ole cancer-causing-chlorinated stuff will bust off oil and dirt quickly and dry. No problems with Magpul plastics. The "safe" chlorine free stuff will seem less effective and won't evaporate nearly as quickly and will melt stuff. Yet another example of CA f*ing stuff up, in their quest to save (rule) the world.
I like this I like learning more about how to camo rifle.
Cool man, glad to share it.
Nice job sir!!!
Thanks!
Rah! Good work
You had me @ TNT ⚡️
Best music ever!!! As always.
Thanks man!
I use krylon cuz I'm cheap and it's rated for engine heat.
Whatever works. :)
God is good!!!!°°°
Looks great thanks
Thanks Kenneth!
Pat was a great man
He really contributed a lot to the community.
Yes he did and still does. Great vid man thanks for the tips
My pleasure Brendan, thanks for watching.
It’s all about the prep work an tape job
Very nice work - THX
That actually works for the area of California I live in. I'm still trying to find a good color and pattern combo for in the city. Not for anything nefarious, just for my shtf rifle
Great video
Thanks Brad!
Idk, riffles and AC/DC songs.... CZcams overlords be coming after you for that one I’m sure 🙄
Eventually. :)
"don't be *that* guy"... 😹
Definitely would tape magwell. and muzzle device if they’re being used as a suppressor QD mount. Looks good nice pattern. 👍
I’ve never had any issues with the mag well. But it certainly wouldn’t hurt anything.
Kit Badger I didn’t mean to critique your video. It’s just something my buddy in the 10sf group did when he painted the first one for me. You’re right it’s probably not that critical.
I didn't take it that way at all man. :)
I spray up in my magwell really good and then my boo carrier
I watched your pistol video first and thought your method looked familiar.
I painted my first rifle according to Pat's instructions on Lightfighter as well, and damn it makes a good looking rifle.
Agreed, simple and direct with good results. Thanks for watching!
Yep. I ended up having to sell the rifle when money got tight, and the guy who bought it freaking raved about the paint job.
I was like, "It took an hour with some spraypaint." :)
Hahaha, I've had that same experience some time back. :)
Guess that counts as a trend, then. :)
Nice Job.
Thanks Danny.
Good video! I wanta paint my rifle like that👍
Thanks Rob!
I like the idea of putting the clear coat on after base, not sure if it'll actually help any.
love the idea of using camo netting as a stencil. will have to use this next time i paint one
kitbadger.com/painted-weapons-follow-up/
And camouflage and concealment
top video. good work
Thanks!
Nice!!!
I am getting ready to do my first paint job and I was just going to ask if I should use a light or dark color base. Question answered thanks. Subscribed.
RIP Uncle Pat
Not too shabby
Thank you!
Very good
Thanks man.
For other colors...try Montana paints. Every color imaginable. High solids, fast coverage.
If that’s not Texas, I didn’t move to Texas six months ago. Thanks for the cool video.
Ironically it was filmed in California... :)
LoL, same thing now a days
Film location in Texas Hill Country by chance? BG Looks exactly like my lease outside of Lampasas, Tx.
Cool video! Nice instructions on the painting! You should have been an instructor or teacher!
Thanks for that Brison! I don't know if you saw the one on painting a pistol, same technique, just more concise: kitbadger.com/painting-your-pistol/
Thanks for watching.
Have not but will definitely watch it.
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice looks good great job an video
Watched this to see how to paint my rifle but now i want to paint everything i own like this.
Haha, paint it all! :)
On your color TV screen - out for all that I can get - if you know what I mean!
You know what's up buddy... :)
How does the paint hold up to solvents and oils when cleaning?
Does it last or does it scratch up.
Looks cool comes first..
It does for most people, and I'm cool with it. :)
Should you plug the barrel with some cloth? Same with the magwell?
