  • In this video, we get a real good look at the new suspension for the Nova, and we talk about what we are setting the car up for once the build is finished!
The TCI front suspension we picked up weeks ago from East LA is finally getting put into the limelight and being installed on the 65 Nova.
At least for now, we still have a few things to do with the suspension before officially setting it in the car for good.
Here at ZHP garage, we do it all. Tune in every Monday for a look into our custom builds, arrays of car shows we attend, and multitude of races we participate in. We've over 20 years of experience, and can work on anything from the daily commuter, to a custom fabricated roll cage, to a custom Chevy C10!
For behind the scenes action, more look into our builds, and things not shown in the fully released videos:

Holy chit my dad's 63 looks identical under the hood lol. Watching this because I am about to do a bunch of suspension and brake work to it here real soon. Blown and injected, tubbed etc yet stock drum brakes with single master and stock suspension in the front lol. My dad's is orange and draws a lot of attention. Scary to drive right now though lmao.

I own a 64 Nova SS,so it’s the coupe so the roof line looks a touch different then the sedan but I kept my factory style front end but Viking coil overs an tubular upper A arms an the lower control arm is tube with a heim joint now an then strut rods are also now heim joints instead of the big rubber bushings. Ditched the cammed bolts for the camber for lock out plates. What’s nice is visually it looks stock but drives like any other modern car.

How much would you say that costed ya compared to buying a full front clip

@@coconut_milk7167 going off what I’ve seen for the prices on those front clip kits I’d say half the cost but if your just looking to make the front end work better getting either the heimed strut arm that set the caster/wheel base length as it’s the biggest issue on why the suspension binds. Aldan also makes a coils over kit that actually ditches the factory coil spring bucket on the top, both the Viking/cpp and the aldan kits bolt right to the A-Arms with out the coil spring rest attached. Since doing this the front suspension has very smooth up and down travel and next to no toe end or camber issues when it’s extended. I’m of the mind set that these old cars should stay appearing like how they was built but I get how terrible this front end was but what I’ve done it takes you to really stare and know exactly what it should look like before ya start noticing that hey wait there’s no bushings it’s a heim joint also looking under the front bumper if ya know what it supposed to be you’ll notice again that instead of big bushings with a giant thread coming out it’s a heim. Again my disk brakes utilize first gen F body spindles with the avg run of the mill calipers but the SSBC calipers are dual piston and the duel lined manual master cylinder just runs to the old T,ed rear brake line with the front portion of the master cylinder and then takes the rear portion of the master cylinder and T’s to the front wheels but again if ya not completely sure of on what your seeing you’d generally just think it’s how it came and that’s the beauty of doing it this way. 60’s look still under the hood but have dual master cylinder an disc brakes and the front end has travel so the ride is vastly improved.

I like disc brakes on the front but would rather just keep adjusting the alignment constantly than toss the original clip. In fact I have bought those to swap back on on the now passě yesterday's trend of straight axle gasser novas that are as practical as Stanley steamer on the road... cool but totally impractical. That nova will be a good daily driver and commuter if the engine and gear ratios aren't ridiculous and the orange looks good on it!
