I know I am commenting on a very old video, but wanted to address a couple of things. First, I love your reviews. They are thorough and well presented.
I noticed when you were using the last powder (extruded) you at some point slopped a few kernels of powder onto the table of the scale. This was accounting for what you thought was overcharging or over dispensing. Just an oversight that we all have to pay attention to, but I felt it fair to mention for others to understand that might come behind me and watch your well presented review.
    Be safe and happy reloading

A couple of comments. First...I wrapped a piece standard “Scotch Tape” around the bottom edge of my powder tube, then pushed the tube onto the dispenser body. My tube doesn’t, and hasn’t moved in over a year. Second...I drop the baffle down into the tube from the top. The fit is so precise that it slides straight down without snagging. I’ve done that dozens of times...never an issue. Third...I bought the powder drain insert, which is excellent for emptying powder back into the bottle/jug. No spills. I have a bamboo chopstick that reaches to the bottom of the dispenser that I use two ways. I lightly tap the tube while emptying when using a flake powder, which is just enough to knock any hanging powder down into the bottom of the dispenser. Also, I reach into the dispenser with the chopstick to spin the baffle around to ensure that no stray powder bits hang up.

I just started reloading and my Hornady Powder Measure does the same with the Varget powder. It sticks like some of the extruded particles are not 100% in the slot.
I thought it was just me !
    Thanks
ps: my weight variances were between 24.8 and 25.2 and I wanted 25. A couple of extruded particles makes a big difference in weight.

I'm not sure if you got a pistol rotor with your measure or not, but it's essential for loading pistol. It handles the lower charges better up to about 20 grains or so. As far as the extruded powder it works best for me to throw a light charge and trickle up to your desired charge.

Thanks for the commet Niel. All that i have that came with it is a different drop cone. It meters pretty well on the low end but the extruded stuff is crunchy. Happy Holidays!

Neil is right. For under 15-20gr, the pistol rotor and metering assembly makes a world of difference. I didn't know the pistol rotor existed until I had the powder measure for over a year. Now, I would never use the rifle rotor that came with it for under 7gr. You can get the set for $33. Thanks for the video. It was great. I really appreciate that you take your time to make these videos.

Thanks for the analysis, well done. I used my Hornady Powder Measure for the first time tonight, using ball powder (Hodgdon HS-6). I followed Hornady's directions regarding preparing the powder measure for use (i.e. cleaning it first). My initial throws were consistent but I noticed quite a bit of powder missing the tray even though I was holding it right under the drop tube. Have you experienced anything like this?

Thank you for the comment. I haven't noticed any spilling like you mentioned..

That tube is much looser than mine. I cut about 1/3 of the tube off since i dont need nearly that much powder for one reload session. For sure going to drill and tap for some #8 screws after hearing and reading about powder spills.
Maybe you know this but i used mine for several years without knowing that Hornady makes a drain insert that goes in place of the metering insert for very quickly emptying the hopper into a powder container.

It looks like you pulled it out instead of unscrewing it. Stripping the threads off the plastic tube. I screw mine on and off and it is tick tight no wobble.

Once you insert the tube you are never supposed to take it back off. If you do it shaves it and you will never get a tight fit again.

You were trying to throw pistol sized loads with the rifle drum and metering screw and that will not work...….you need to install the pistol drum and metering screw to throw pistol sized loads. The pistol metering screw has a range of throws from 0.5 gn to 17 gn max.

Don't rock the tube to much if not you'll be flipping the tube upside down.it will wear out due to the serrations

I was on the downstroke when suddenly the powder hopper popped off and powder went EVERYWHERE, I do not know why that happened, it should not happen! Any suggestions why it might? I’ll use duct tape from now on to hold it in place.

I honestly think it a poor design. There should be a screw or something to hold the hopper on. I'm just gentle and know about it so I haven't had the dreaded spill.... Thanks for the question!

7:58 You say "so the baffle is doing its job" what exactly is its job? What is the purpose of that piece?

What happens if you dont use it?

    • @tektkite7255

the baffle will make it so there is not the entire weight of the powder on the measuting cylinder. therefore it is a little more consistent when the powder weight goes doen

I'm a "newbie" but I'm not liking the difficulty factor in emptying out the tube--bad design, (IMHO)!
