As someone who wants both neuvillette, wriothesley and Furina this is PAIN. Thankfully I've been saving since Kazuha's last banner and have a guarantee. Right now I'm at 200 wishes so I just hope I can get enough wishes in 4.1 to ensure I get them all.
Update : I got neuvi in 41 wishes 🎉 everything is still possible !!

The CN mobile charts a lot of the time are very different from the other markets, genshin has a much larger female playerbase in western countries, japan and korea. Ayatos initial banner is to this day one of the highest selling banners in japan.
Neuvilette and Wriothesley will probably sell average in CN, but western, japanese and korean players are reportedly extremely exited for them which is why I think it will be one of the most profitable patches of all time for hoyoverse in general.
I also have to mention that especially JP players often pull for voice actors and both Rizzly and Neuvi have GOATs as voice actors

People really underestimate the female players. We pull and pour money only on the characters we like, not every male.

As someone who was really adamant about getting Furina and her weapon before we knew anything about her, now that I'm seeing who's running alongside her, I've decided to skip the weapon and instead get c1 Wriothesley.

One thing you didnt bring up is that their banner releases during the top up reset. So thats already a ton of upfront sales. Then Neuvillette is shared with Hu Tao for a cracked weapon banner and Wrio is paired with another archon.
I mean still, it's just Chinese ios market, if you look at for example jp sales, they are almost opposite

wrizzley is the first cryo catalyt and the otter boy is the special wet dragon that could kameha i think theyll do fine
since it’s confirmed now that Furina is coming in the 4.2 patch, i definitely think it’s going to affect the performance of the Neuvillette/Wriothesley banners - more so Wriothesley since he will be 2nd half and is paired with Venti who has never really “carried” the sales on all the double banners he’s been paired with + his power level is heavily dependent on what enemies are in the abyss
i think the Neuvillette will perform alright since he’s paired Hu Tao who is still a very solid, popular DPS with broad appeal bc of her personality + he’s on the 1st half so people who are interested in Furina with still have at least half a patch to save/recuperate their primos to try for her too
Well I would say 4.1 is a pre-archon honey trap to drain as many freemogems as possible to juice the archon banner sales ^^ I don't think I'll go for either of these gentlemen cause what we've seen of the archon so far has been very promising. That said they're both likely going to be synergizing with her quite well, so if you have the primos, you can't go wrong.
I mean obviously it is, they’re the only two tall men in Fontaine, they’re coming out back-to-back, one is a literal dragon and the other is the first ever Cryo catalyst user in the game. How much more ‘please spend your freemos on these banners’ could it get?

I'm pulling Neuvi on my secondary and Wrioth on my main! If I don't win the 50/50 I'll use the guaranteed on Furina tho.
I think Neuvillette will do better than Wriothesley (in this update and reruns alike) for a couple of reasons. First, he's rerunning with Hu Tao, and Homa sharing banner with his BiS will make a lot of people who wouldn't normally go for weapon banner give it a chance as it's pretty cracked and has a 4* HP sword. Meanwhile, Worchestersauce runs with Venti, who hasn't sold great since 1.X and has sad 1.x cons, and while Elegy is an awesome weapon it's not a DPS weapon and most people like those less.
Second, hydro is the most broken element of the game, so Neuvillette should be flexible and powerful just by virtue of water and dendro meta. Rizzley is cryo, so besides hypercarry and freeze (and for that reaction he has strong competition) we need to see how he works in melt. So I really think dragon grandpa might be one of the big DPS of the regions like Alhaitham before him, while punchy man will likely be in the same tier as Xiao, Itto, Cyno, etc. (pretty good with investment and the right supports but not meta)
Third, we were already endeared/awed by Neuvillette in the archon quest. I certainly didn't care much for him before we met him, but now I'm intrigued as hell. I have hopes for Warioware to be cool and charming when we meet him in 4.1 tho, as someone who just read leaks of his voice lines, but then when people start liking him it'll be too late to save up and Furina will be the next banner. For Otterlette we were given a whole patch to save (or more)
That said, as a woman I'm happy to see all these beautiful husbandos balancing out the male:female ratio. Sumeru was also pretty damn good for male 5* character ratio so I'm enjoying it while it lasts. Even HSR is back to waifu season.
Archon teaser is pretty much always a death sentence for the banners right before.
So I wouldn't expect too much from this either.
Agree that both of them will probably do better on their first re-runs.

The last limited female 5* was in 3.2, and if you count only "adult model" as "waifus" then the last was in 2.7. The last female 5* was in 3.5. So yeah 1 year or 8 months of no new character IS a drought.

If you ask me, its the balance for both story, and gameplay. Imo female characters are much easier to sell historically in other gachas, making them meta is 2nd like if they have broken dps or broken support but its the appeal of the character either the use of tropes that pulls you in or the mostly go for appearances above all else, like seriously Raiden can pull a sword out of her boobs, or even Yelan and Kafka in HSR has that, phrase makes people go "Step on me mommy"
For the guys it's kinda hard to sell, unless they're meta breaking people couldn't careless, theirs also the shipping aspect but that's a different discussion. Like Enstars and Helios who has dedicated fanbases, but making someone a casual player going for them is hard. Theirs also cultural aspects to consider, like many people wants to see muscular or even bearded male characters but asian people don't really like men too thick or with beards or moustache isn't appealing. Like in genshin historically male characters tend to have more engaging story quest writing imo, for the ladies I can name a handful that are actually good.
People often make fun of me or my friend who just wants gender equality in the game, people tend to be very toxic, like Scaramouche in CN community goes above and beyond demand to have him remove for being like a brat that steps on you or the KR peeps dislike bombing Lyney teaser trailer for being too feminine.
All those misogynist jerks need to lay off, sure we got husbando banner, they'll get their waifu bonanza from Navia, Chlorinde, Arlecchino and few named like Emille and Chiori just in like Inazuma, and remaining archons are all female so shut up.
And also in terms of challenges, only males are much challenging than only females since for the guys, theirs a LACKING in off field supports or healers for guys, took what nearly 3 years for another male healer in Mika and then Baizhu came around. Only females just pull for the archons and they're all set.
Apologies for the long comment, i was nearly burnt out because of fandom being toxic as usual and no male characters to pull which is kinda frustrating since I really love genshin in its world. I don't want to leave because of community being toxic and unhinged.

Honestly from what I saw during Lyney/Yelan was people skipping Lyney specifically for Neuvi and/or Wrio (and Yelan in favor of new hydros who may outperform her/be more fun) so I dunno. People are gonna go hard for Furina obvi but these two have the benefits of being with a new map and the anniversary so theres a lot of extra pulls to spare for those who have been saving for awhile, which hyv made pretty dang easy with the ending banners of the 3.x patches.
Not to mention Wriothesley being the first ever cryo catalyst, an archetype we've been waiting for for 3 years. He's got some major benefits going for him in that alone, unless we find out the recently dripped Charlotte is also a catalyst (which tbh I wouldnt be surprised by) and theres no way she isnt a 4star unit, thus "easier" to obtain. (Insert 'dont pull for Wriothesley just bc hes a cryo catalyst until the 4.2 livestream jic' advice here)
And iirc zhonglis initial sales were LOW due to his pre-buff state. again iirc, his 1.5 rerun was significantly better in sales. While I can absolutely see Neuvi following suit, He's not gonna get that benefit of a buff if hes disappointing, so if the community concludes hes just not worth it in most cases, he'll just always suffer.

A thing to think about with furina is that archons are always at least top tier if not the best of their element, to fit that trend while being hydro means that she is likely to be very very strong as the hydro roster is pretty cracked as is, so do I get a hydro driver/carry now or potentially get something even better in a few banners

I admit I'm a bit of an odd one but I'm going for Wriothesley C1 and Furina (I've got more than enough saved to get both of them). For reruns I'll probably get Lyney at some point, everyone else depends on their kit (like if we get a 5* XL or something).
Neuvillette just doesn't interest me so much. He's cool in the story but not one of my favorites, plus I have no need for another Hydro character (especially a main DPS) since I already have Kokomi/Childe/Nilou and soon Furina. Gameplay wise I don't get the hype even after the trial but I play on PS5 (controller) so maybe that's why?
I don't mind having all the guys early in Fontaine before the Waifu flood XD It's better than having to wait until 4.5 or whatever. Just choose your favorites and wait for reruns for the others.
Wriothesley's kit also looks really fun to me, I love Heizou's playstyle and tend to prefer mele over ranged characters. Some people act like he's Dehya level which is just so wrong. He has a ton of team options and works with pretty much every broken support (XQ/Yelan/Bennett/Kazuha/Nahida). I'm really looking forward to trying Burn-Melt with Thoma/Nahida especially.

Well… to be fair I was saving for neuvillette since his initial mention at Nahidas drip market post… (no I’m dead serious hearing “chief justice” sparked something in me) I was hyped for Fontaine since the beginning seeing the nation I was most excited for finally come into the game and go past my expectations is amazing!

I think Neuvillette and Eriothesleys banners will easily outsell Childe and Zhongli. You forget how many more people play to game today compared to back in 1.1. I think that even if everyone that played back in 1.1 is saving for Furina or future characters we still have enough new players that want either of them. Also Neuvillette is super fun and strong and Wriothesley has the same JP VA as Jotaro from jjba
You made a critical mistake you forgot about the four stars I mean having xingqiu and fishel on the same banner is an unfair advantage
Largest complaints against heizou and scara is that they're anemo, no high damage reactions. Rizz is cryo, so melt or freeze away.

Funny, I have Zhongli and I don’t want Childe. Neuvillette is a must have for me. Wrioths I would like to have but Furina is preferred. Neuvillette is first on my list.

excluding siggewine, it's very balanced between male and female. as far as i know, we'll have 4 dudes and 5 girls. they know people are saving for furina, releasing female characters who sell more by default after everyone's broke is a guaranteed sale, both from FOMO and from the "waifu drought"

"Waifu drought" When Inazuma happened, Candace, Layla, Faruzan, Kirara, Nilou, and Dehya STILL came in Sumeru, and Women make up over half of the game's roster to the point where the 4 stars alone outnumbered the men before this last banner. The delusion is insane.
We got, what, Tighnari, Cyno, Baizhu, Al Haitham, and Scaramouche? Most of them with breaks in between their banners? Then Lyney, Wrio, and Neuvilette. . . After that the rest of the banners are gonna be women. Nobody's taking your precious "waifus" away. Take the time to save up like the rest of us when the only 5 stars we got were Itto Kazuha and Ayato out of a whole region.

I think Neuvillete and Wriothesely will sell better for two reasons, first, zhongli was bashed by content creators to hell on release. Second, and more important, the player base is just a whole hell of a lot bigger, player count has only grown over time, more people, more sales

Yelan only failed this rerun because people already spent for Hu Tao and Yelan 4 patches earlier.

more like we thought Liney and Lenette were one unit characters but they're not and the kit is not very unique for Liney. Like It doesn't have a wow factor. And if we have two characters in one would be unique and worth pulling. it's all because of that trailer. so the release was kinda underwhelming.

Of course the girl's banner sales look so better because Mihoyo gives the best only to the girls. They're considered to be the top tier meta. The CN people are meta hungry. They most likely pull to C6 and spend insane amount of money just to get 0.01 seconds earlier than others. How do I know? My CN friends are all like that. They do compete on seconds. They spend money on the banner when that character is so strong with their C6, and most of the time it's the girl's. Husbandos are left in the dust.
The Husbandos are just a pallet cleanser for the waifus. It's fine.
and waifus are just disposeable as well. the simps will just forget about their waifu/husbando of the week to another flavor of the week

I don’t think sales have anything to do with whether a character fails or succeed (in game). More than anything, it fans “stan wars” between characters which is funny to me because it feels like Genshin players are like kpop stan twitter. But it is true female characters do get better sales because… well… Mihoyo knows their audience
I would have to be stupid to not pull for 2 hot daddys with amazing designs and gameplay and lore for a brat with clown shoes, i already got neuvillette and his bis, i will spend everything i can save for wriothesly and his bis too❤

There is not drught or anything. They pumped so many waifus that it was 1 to 3. They are tryng to compensate a bit and probably make 40/60%.
For me also new recycled boring char models are not interesting. Where are models like eremite chick enemies in Sumeru? They look much better! also Itto next to fatui or eremite or blacksmith looks like a total looser
They're both self damaging hypercarries who have issues without their signature weapon and/or C1. On top of being male characters in elements where popular and good female onfielders already exist.
I'm expecting bad sales, maybe Hu Tao can save it though.
1) Both characters have a way to heal themselves back up to full. Self damage is overwhelmingly a positive thing thanks to the new artifact set in 4.0. Non-issue.
2) While Wriothesley does have an important part of his kit locked behind C1, Neuvillette doesn't. Both characters also have very comparable 4 star weapon options.
3) Sure, Ganyu and Ayaka are both comparable cryo onfield options, there are literally zero female on field hydro carries (Nilou is close but isn't really onfield).

Sumeru had 3 female 5 star characters, one was a child model and the other was dehya its been archon to archon without a limited female.

It's been 1 YEAR without a limited female 5*... The last one was literally Nahida. (Dehya doesn't count because she is first off standard and not limited and second off might as well be a 3*)
It's quite baffling too since males consistently sell less, It's surprising hoyo was catering to that audience for so long. I guess they've kind of learned their lesson with fontaine? I say kind of because despite being mostly female populated, we are still somehow not getting a patch with TWO new female 5*s but 4.1 is for some reason featuring two 5* males.
I suspect we might be getting like only 1 maybe 2 male 5* a year from now on after Neuvillette and Wrio innevitably have middling sales at best.
You might not be aware, but there are multiple statistics and videos already stating that there are more female players in Genshin Impact than male players.
