Nothing beats that feeling of going low on an approach and seeing the approach lights and then the runway infront of you..
very impressive plane handling skills and use of all available resources - you always stayed ahead of the plane in a stressful environment - kudos on ajob well done
Well done captain, respecting the weather and your personal minimums
Talking to yourself while flying is considered a sign of sanity. Nice work Sir, and thanks for sharing your experience
Great video!! Subscribed for more.
I like your IFR checklist.
Nice demonstration of single pilot work. Appreciated the verbalized checklist throughout. Your example really highlights the visibility requirements and how they change from launching to return to base.
Awesome video!! You have an amazing looking Cessna 172M cockpit.
Upgraded the avionics in 2019 and still loving it!
@@imarocker66 It looks like a well-thought-out cockpit layout.
@@imarocker66 Awesome video!🙌🏽 How do I get a copy of your checklist in hand. Thank you 🙏 🔥
Complete sorcery. Nicely done.
Well done and nicely equipped 172.
Great job!
That was great thank you for video. Really useful with all the explanation.
Great job! Favorite part of being IR is shooting approaches.
Dang nice landing my friend & enjoyed the vid
Excellent video
Great skill
I would LOVE to fly this airplane!!! having my instrument checkride here on May (hopefully) if the DPE doesn't reshedule.
Nice. Kept your cool.
Nice job. If I had got revectored in IMC and then found the Wx down to minimums, not sure I’d be as collected as you were. Nice, nice, nice.
It helps that I had another 3 hours of fuel and couple other options for airports with better weather and lower minimums with 10-30 minutes flight distance. KPSM is about 12 miles south with 300 MSL minimum on the ILS and RNAV approaches, and an 11,000’ runway 😅
Nice flying , calling out the altitudes on the approach is great , keeps that MDA in your mind .. thats a well equipped 172 your flying there .. nice IFR plane .
We upgraded the panel in 2019. Huge improvement for single pilot IFR!
@@imarocker66 it sure is .. perfect mix of digital and analog instruments .. and the autopilot is a real nice addition too .. nice job ..
Your KDAW 'Approach' was getting 'dicey'.. Nice job!
Mother Nature threw me a curveball. I’m glad I didn’t swing and miss ;-) Thanks!
Well done! I see you've marked up your approach plates on Foreflight. I do this as well.
Yeah, It’s helps to identify the criteria info quickly while keeping busy with everything else 👍
I’m not a pilot, but just watching this I don’t know how you can manage the workflow in that environment in that airplane without either an auto pilot or a copilot. If you were flying that trip entirely by hand, I don’t know how you do it.
Good video and piloting. Would be better with a fixed camera focused on the panel. Not much use having it on you. Too much movement. Just my .02
That head mounted camera gave me spacial disorientation.
Where did you get that IFR checklist?
Nice video. I have the same setup. What gives you the airspeed callout?
GFC 500 Autopilot with Electronic Speed Protection (Under speed Protection - MINSPD)
How come with the autopilot engaged and with I am sure not a smooth ride why aren't the yokes moving as the auto-pilot or pilot maintains stability and approach path?
It actually was a very smooth ride. Even though it was solid IMC the winds were relatively calm and not much lifting updraft in the low level Stratus layer. Fluffy Cumulus type clouds which were not in the forecast are a different beast.
Made me a little nervous.
me too ;-)
People actually do this on purpose, for fun. Huh.
Can’t watch with all that moving around! Mount the damn camera! 🤦🏻♂️ Otherwise….nice video.
Yeah, kinda felt nauseous
I sometimes mount the camera on a tripod just behind the front seats but didn’t have time on this flight. Check out some of my other videos if you want to see that. Thanks for watching
