Also, I was wondering if you could do some kind of 'sustained performance/watt under load' chart considering a LOT of these Core Ultra chips start at a high wattage and shortly drop to about 20-25W, except for maybe Lenovo Pro models. Maybe the Cinebench R15 Multi Constand Load test?

    Thanks Andrew, I have this set to arrive tomorrow for myself. There was a pricing listing error on Amazon's Samsung Page Front a few weeks ago and I was lucky enough to spot the error and scored this for $999 USD for the 16 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD version. Negatives aside on the actual horsepower, I do like that this has two m.2 slots as I bought two samsung 990 pro's with 4 tb each. I think that's one major silver lining with this laptop, because I'll be able to upgrade it from 1 TB to 8 TB in total capacity with relative ease. However, if I was paying "normal" market pricing i.e. $1749, there are many better options out there - namely the Lenovo Slim 7i Gen 9 is hands down the best bang for buck on the market right now imo.

    • @ArnieDub
      @ArnieDub Před 2 měsíci +3

      I found the same error in the price and mine arrives on Tuesday (Florida), I was thinking of canceling the purchase, but seeing that it now costs $1749 I think it is a good birthday gift. By the way, on Ebay a prominent seller from Korea has the 32 GB ram version for the same price as this 16 GB one (1749)

    • @tislam410
      @tislam410 Před 2 měsíci +5

      Hey @@ArnieDub I received mine today because of delayed amazon shipping but I'm loving it so far. I was able to upgrade it from 1 TB to 8 TB storage in literally 30 minutes as it was super easy to do with instructions videos on CZcams from Galaxy Book3 Pro from last year (the design and internals are the same basically). The Laptop was $999, and then I paid $500 (for two m.2 4 TB samsung 990's). Altogether I spent $1520 for the 14 inch pro with 16 GB RAM & 8 TB Storage + Converting the spare m.2 1 TB drive that the laptop came with to use as external drive (purchased a cheap $20 m.2 enclosure on amazon). Pretty good deal all things considered.

    the hit to performance over others with a similar chip is a little dissapointing but considering this laptop is much thinner than the others i think it can slide, what really sold it for me was having legacy ports and the antireflective display while being this thin and portable, for my use case, this laptop checks everything I need and with student discounts it was less than the spectre and zenbook.

    The 512 GB drive is an issue, but I hope it's upgradable to a normal 1 TB drive. Sadly the X1 Carbon's can only take an SSD that have chips on 1 side. I hope that's not the case here. I'm an office worker most of the time but I dabble programming and as an architect do a lot with large Visio and other diagramming so it seems like a fit for all that. I also think it may be the most attractive (professional looking) of the 14" I've seen so far this year. Maybe as close to being a 14" MacBook Air as possible from a Windows world. I'm eager for mine to arrive.

    I think you should be a little more critical with the scores at then end. You put a lot of effort in your videos and mention good points but the score you give doesnt really caption the good review and is not that useful. You mentioned the screen wobble and some flex in the keyboard and yet hardware gets 10 points. Audio seems pretty generous with 9 if you compare it to the mb. And the battery life was worse than a 2 in 1 yet again gets 10 points. (Battery size isnt a very good excuse imo, just put a bigger in?). It feels kind of misleading when you use a scale of 10 points and only use the top 3 numbers (minimizes the relative differences). But great video after all the review itself does capture what you would want to know.

    Kinda crazy that it’s over 50% less multi core performance in Cinebench over the much cheaper and better spec’d HP Spectre with the same processor. Throw in the limited 512GB SSD, no haptic touchpad… :/

    Samsung still way behind Apple Macs in the Laptop Category. Even Asus and Lenovo have better options with great performance.
    I know this will trigger some Samsung fanboys lol. We are not talking about a phone but a laptop and in that category Samsung still has a lot of work to do. There are better options in the same price range.

    The Samsung Galaxy Book4 Pro 14 is not a bad laptop as it has some nice features such as the Dynamic Amoled display, clear 1080p webcam and internal mics as well as the excellent quad speakers and good battery life. Aside from the positives, there are numerous negatives such as cost, RAM being soldered, screen wobble, shallow key travel, no haptic touchpad and the only option is the 512GB SSD option in the US. My opinion is to pass on this, choose wisely and check out Asus or any other brand with an internal graphics card which will always get you better performance overall. Excellent review Andrew!! 👍😁

    Disappointed that Samsung has abandoned the 13.3" format. I own the Samsung Galaxy Book3 in 13.3" and it's the perfect size for serious study. It's also a 2-in-1 and, unlike most such devices, actually works very well for taking handwritten notes with a Samsung stylus. It also provides excellent interconnectivity with my Samsung S7 tablet, another great device. Battery life is exceptional for the little Book 3. Build quality is second to none. Yes, it still sports the ancient Intel Iris graphics set, but I'm not at all interested in gaming or video editing, so no pain there at all. Given that Samsung has abandoned the 13.3" format and I won't be able to replace the one I have, I'm going to look for one of the few remaining such laptops on the market and buy a second one as a backup device. No, it's not the 'pro' and it's certainly not the 'ultra' version and no, it doesn't sport Intel's latest chipset... but all that said, I wouldn't trade it for any on of Samsung's latest offerings. For the serious academic, it's just that good.

    Again Glossy showstopper... However I am optimistic about anti reflective non-glossy screens Samsung demonstrated on their TV for this year. Hopefully that technology will come to their laptops next year. And they will find a way to move one of the USB-C ports on the other side. That would be instant order by me.

    At this point, it feels like apple's ram scam is totally justified for what they are offering. I hate it but I am not disappointed as much after purchase as much as I would from what Samsung's offering.

    Creepy how similar they look at 19:00. Samsung needs to develop their own identity honestly. You can tell a spectre or an xps or a thinkpad. You can't tell a Samsung.

    Nice review, thanks! Any laptop with a Pro or Ultra badge today needs to also offer at least 64GB of ram as an option. Seems like Samsung is always a step behind in mem configs offered. Before they only offered 16GB when they should have had 32GB, now they have that, but should also offer 64GB. Edit: Wait, what, only 16GB of ram? That is useless for any serious work.
