    I've tried watching about five of these videos on rear drum brakes... this is the only one I could watch and actually enjoy. Great video format. This looks to be the easiest drum setup I've ever seen. Now I know what to look for. Thanks

      Thank you🙂 yea i think the hardest part is getting the parking brake cable reattached at the frame section

      @davecunningham8757 Před 3 lety +1

      @@backyardchevy328 You are absolutely correct about the parking brake cable! I followed your recommendation to disconnect the cables for both rear wheels at that point beneath the driver's door on the frame. It made it so easy to install both cables into the springs! I had struggled a LOT and got nowhere before that. I was lucky, and had plenty of threads available on that adjustment screw connection point at the frame. I counted 17 exposed threads, unscrewed/loosened it to the point I could get both cables disconnected and later connected again and adjusted back to 17 threads. From there, it was just testing and adjusting! Aside from that huge benefit, the rest of the video was also great. Very detailed, great camera work with great resolution, and great narration. And your cat at the beginning was a nice personal touch. A very fine video!!! Thanks so much!!

    Had a terrible time trying to do this on my old Toyota. There seemed to be a lot more hardware involved and I hate brake springs. I’m a diesel mechanic, so I’m not used to tiny brake parts. This seems to be much easier and will hopefully involve less tool-throwing and cursing. 😂 Great video. Very easy to understand. Thanks a million. 🙂

    I hope you reply to this! I followed this video step by step and you made it so clear and easy for me. I am grateful! But, I think I increased my “travel” when I brake whilst driving. I’m not sure if this is just how it’s supposed to feel or what. The old shoes and drum were rusted and severely worn. I replaced all hardware pieces expect wheel cylinder. Any guesses why I might have more travel in braking? lol 😂

    Doing this the 2nd time Sunday the 31st , the drums had formed a lip around the outer diameter and I could not turn the star adjuster to release the tension. Took hours in Texas heat prying them out. This time I removed that clip washer in the middle of the star adjuster and machined a bevel surface on the drum so there will be no ridge to hang up the shoes. I have beveled my older cars drums in the past and never fought them like I did this Canyon.
