    Jesus H. Christ Sigel can talk. My God. And not only talk but constantly brag about himself. Mike, this is not the 70's, 80's, or 90's. Or even the early 2000's. Pool has evolved and you simply act like a dinosaur. You were a great player for your era but, honestly, I do not think you would be a top 25 player in today's game.
    They would outshoot you and outsmart you in today's game. But I do agree with one thing: get rid of the jump cue. In fact, get rid of jumping all together. It takes away from the game. Make guys kick out of trouble. That is more skillful.

  • @Northof49th1
    @Northof49th1 Před 3 lety +11

    It's obvious that Mike hasn't watched pool in a long time. The reasons for different rules than when he played is because players are better today. They are better offensively, defensively, they have better fundamentals. And speaking of fundamentals, along with better equipment, they generate more power in their stroke. Which is why, along with faster cloth, they don't need to spin the ball as much. SVB and Melling are world-class players (and play more than just 9 ball), even though this wasn't their best match. And just my opinion, but I don't think Mike, or many older players or fans, can let go of the past. They think that their generation of players are just as good, or better than today. That's just rubbish; ego talking mostly. In all aspects of competition where some type of athleticism is involved (yes, even pool), players today are superior than the previous generation. Bigger, stronger, faster, smarter. That's just the way it is. As far as pool is concerned, today's players would destroy the best players of the 90's and prior. The older players are just out-matched in all aspects. (And I watched many matches in the 80's and 90's (ordered many VHS from Accu-Stats back in the day, and still enjoy watching older matches.) Maybe Reyes or Strickland would do alright, but fact is, it's a global game now. Europeans with their snooker background, Asia too. (Last year Gareth Potts ran 8 racks of 9 ball in a row on a chinese 8 ball table. Goes to show how awesome these guys, and girls, really are.) More players, more competition = better pool, and that's a good thing.

      Old man Bustamante took Shaw to 10-10 hill match earlier this year at the Derby City Classic on the 10' foot table.
      I think some of the greats from the past could have adapted to today's game.

Doesn't even know who Jason Shaw or Chris melling are. I'll bet he never has a repeat customer as a fishing guide. The 3 balls must pocket or go past the headstring is to stop the soft break how does mike not know that

    Melling is a British pool player. He never relies on the side rails for helping the balls in because the cut on the pockets in British tables are so tight so they have to be very accurate

    As much as people are complaining about Sigel's commentary, I honestly believe that he gave the most insightful information of any caster I've listened to on Accu-Stats. He may talk about himself way too much, but if you want to learn a few things from professionals, Mike definitely helped you get there

  • @Undermin3d.

    Accu-stats. If you guys want people to continue to come back and watch these matches, ya'll have got to be better at picking commentators. Mark is a fine commentator, Mike on the other hand..... Being a hall of famer doesn't make you good at talking.

    31:16 the exact moment when I had to mute mike. You don't have to be efren to see that is a three rail kick.. Even melling hits that 9 out of a 10 times, in here the pressure got him but not seeing "any way in the world" to hit that easy kick? Coming from a pro its quite disappointing. No surprise efren clapped him back on that IPT king of the hill stuff lol

    • @KingNast
      @KingNast Před 4 lety +2

      Weird thing is that I went to a Q&A with Efren a couple years ago, and someone asked who is toughest competitor was, and he said Mike Sigel. Maybe he meant it was tough to play him because he wouldn't stop running his mouth.

    • @parashararamesh4252
      @parashararamesh4252 Před 2 lety

      @@duffyrobert19 i think this is referring to the "soft break" which Corey perfected.. He figured out a way to rack it and hit slowly such that the wing ball goes in leaving a 9 ball combination shot with the 2 or 3 ball and wins a rack in 2 shots

    The magic rack is great to make sure all balls are touching, but in my looking at CZcams 9-ball breaking videos, very little difference is needed between balls to make a big difference in where a ball ends up going. Not only space between balls but slight differences in orientation of balls make big differences. With magic rack, the balls are forced together by the template meaning more pressure between balls is created as opposed to no pressure without the template when balls are just touching. This has got to make a difference where the balls travel after the break. Has anyone even thought of this?
