Now you know the secrets to my awesome meatloaf! Tell me your secrets...
The Spicy Apron thank you for sharing your special meatloaf recipe. I love meat loaf with cheese on top and broiled! Shhh đ€« donât tell my secret.
Ooohhh... that sounds amazing! I'll definitely give that a try! Thanks for sharing!
Is there a written recipe?
Nevermind, found it
How about just before you do the final shaping, flatten it out and put some of your favorite cheese in the middle, then lift the sides up to shape it, sealing the cheese inside. Cheesy Meatloaf!
Foil is nice if you hate washing dishes, but a Pyrex bowl or stainless steel pan is much safer. Any vessel that is oven proof will work in your Instant Pot. I like the stackable stainless steel pans that were made for the IPot. You can get them on Amazon. You can do your meatloaf in one and veggies/taters in the other. Entire meal at once. Itâs called pot-in-Pot cooking. They are also used for reheating foods. đđŒ
I completely agree with you. Tinfoil becomes toxic when heated so other options are definitely better for your health đ many people don't know this and keep using it for grilling and baking, etc. but ease of cleaning is not worth getting cancer
@@Morgan-ug4sm agree according to instant pot CorningWare dish is đ
Thanks! I didn't have any tin foil and didn't want to get some. I will use a pan. :)
Made this as one of our first goes at using the Instant Pot-WOW! We love it! I have made many meatloafs and yet this was the best. I put the glaze on it and put it in the oven to caramelize, Thank you!
thank you for the recipe. will be making this for the fam tonight!
I made it tonight and it is so good!!! Thanks for the recipe.
I enjoyed watching your video. I found it informative and cute. Thank you for the secrets.
Thank you so much! I really love meatloaf and making it in my instant pot will be so exciting. đžđđđđđđž
Iâve got this saved in my CZcams library and am making this for the 4th time. People love it! The best meatloaf everâŠ.seriouslyđđđ
That's great Elayne!! I'm so glad everyone likes it!! And thanks for your comment! :)
Tried to make your recipe 4 times now--- the best! Love it
â€
So glad to know how to do this. Made a beautiful meatloaf with potatoes in my 3qt ip!
I like to use my food processor for mixing the mixture up. Works wonderful!
Looks great!
Your awesome, having for Christmas đ thanks looks so good đ
Great video! Thanks!
Looks so yummy
YASSS....I use carrots, too!!! Also good in stuffing!
Thank you for the instructions! I used my Crock Pot multi-cooker and followed an entirely different recipe out of a cookbook. But I followed your instructions and it came out fantastic. I will try out your recipe as well but of all the youtubes that I watched, I felt your instructions were the easiest to follow.
Thank you so much and I'm glad the instructions worked for you!!
You just got yourself a new subscriber I love my instant pot and I canât wait to try all your recipes.
That's great Amber!! Happy to have you aboard! :)
Cannot wait to make it,love meat loaf!!âïž
I followed your recipe last night for dinner. First time ever cooking in the I.P. Loved it and it was a hit. Absolutely a redo again. I do miss though the crisp top when putting it in the oven, but the convenience and easy clean up definitely makes up for this!
I'm glad it was a hit, Robin! You could stick the meatloaf under the broiler for about 5 minutes after it's done cooking if you want that crsip top. (But that would be another pan to clean... lol!)
đ I made this mostly from this recipe, but didn't have all the veggies, (carrots, celery), and somehow ended up with ground turkey instead of beef. Plus I used a few drops of liquid smoke instead of Worcestershire (can't stand that-ha), and the flavor ended up being unique a very yummy !!! I can't wait to make it with the ground beef later on !!
Thank you so much !! You can keep those bragging rights, it IS the BEST meatloaf recipe !!! (Instant Pot or Oven !!) đđđđ»ââïž
I think so far your meatloaf recipe is the best....I am always looking for different ways to do it...Thank you so much...
Angela Hagerman thank you so much! It's a huge hit in our family!
Just got my pot been ben watching videos thanks for viedo s
Great recipe! Just bought one of your books - cant wait to try some recipes out of it! Thank you!
Thanks so much! Always feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.
I've made 3 recipes in my IP and this will be my 4th. Looks great. I'm tired of blah meatloaf and this looks like you put a little pizzazz into it. Just subscribed.
Making this dish tomorrow for sure.........
Enjoyed the vid & am now extremely hungry for meatloaf.
Beautiful
Iâve been looking for a way to jazz up my meatloaf...I really like your ingredients...and to top it off I can do this in my pressure cooker yaaaay...I really like your kitchen...we are closing on a house in a couple of months and I have a black kitchen...Iâm super excited
Fatimah X so excited for you and your new house and new black kitchen! Sounds cool!
Yum! I love meatloaf. This looks so easy!
Easy AND delicious!! So perfect for a meat and potatoes kind of person!
Fantastic video...Great recipe! Thanks!
Thanks Howard!! :)
I really don't like meatloaf but you have persuaded that I might. It looks yummy and I think I'll try this. Thank you for the video.
Thanks! I hope you like it!! (I used to hate meatloaf as a kid and how I love it...)
Thanks! Love the video , and of course Meatloaf!
Thanks, Bert!
Amazing...jumped right on to Amazon and ordered your book...Thank you!!!
Awe... thanks Pat!! :)
@@Thespicyapron I can't find the book. What is the name of it?
@@carmentej4289 I have two books! One is Cooking With Your Instant Pot Mini (but most everything can be cooked in your 6 quart too! Here's the Amazon link -> amzn.to/2wT50AD ) and the other is The Instant Pot Holiday Cookbook: amzn.to/2WhXU3v Let me know if you need anything else!
I will do this soon ,next meat loaf đ
Thanks! I will try it soon. So sorry I hit the thumbs down by mistake, then hit thumbs up.
Best meat loaf ever..new subscriber heređ
There is a trivet with handles available for the 3-quart pot, I held my breath as you were lifting the meatloaf out.
I also use oatmeal instead of bread crumbs, it adds fiber as well as the absorption of liquid.
You have a new subscriber here, your video is excellent! Looking forward to viewing more... Keep up the great work!
Thanks Terri! I actually do have one with handles now! lol! And I really like the idea of using oatmeal. I'll have to give that a try! Thanks for subscribing! :)
If you use a pan with a lid for your meatloaf, or a Pyrex bowl with a cover (pot-in-pot), steam wonât get into the meatloaf and make it soggy.
Just bought your book for the IP Mini... I recently purchased an IP Mini Lux as Iâm heading back to Driving Truck Over The Road... looking forward to finding out just what all I can do with it in my truck... thanks for the Mini Oriented recipes.
I'd love to hear what you make in your truck!! Such a perfect use for the Mini!
The Spicy Apron ... well, Iâll start with a few of your recipes... lol ... prep and cleanup is always the biggest issue in the confined all purpose space of a Sleeper Cab.
Protip: The hole in the handle of the utensils are designed to open the vent.
I just learned this had my IP for 5 years lol
Mmmm! I'm already getting hungry, my instapot gets here on the 3rd of December an the first thing I'm cooking is your recipe.
Just got mine today - 5 days earlier. First chicken . Then use the bones for broth
Would the time be the same in a 6qt?
Looks delicious
Looks delish! đ new subbie here! đđ»
Thanks Amber!!
Just subscribe loved your video.
I love the look of your meatloaf and have to try that recipe to cook my own. I thank you for sharing the recipe and I hope 2020 will be a great year for you, and your family.
Haha 2020 was a bust!
This didn't age well.
Good video and i just subscribed! đ
Thanks Diana!! Always feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions! :) And thanks for subscribing!!
I wear disposable gloves (medical type, from a big box from Costco) to mix meatloaf or do other messy mixing jobs. No gunk under my fingernails!
I was also gonna suggest the gloves as well, you can't beat them for mixing messy foods in the kitchen, glad to see I'm not the only one that's forward thinking. Gloves save a lot of time washing your hands and trying to get rid of the smells of certain foods and spices. Great comment Pam.
đ Hi ! That's what I plan on using also !! đđŒđđŒđđŒđđđ
P.s. I'm making this tomorrow night for my husband. Thank you!
You are an awesome lady!
Can milk be used in place of the heavy cream?
The utensil you showed at the beginning is a rice paddle, for scooping steamed rice.
Yes! But I really do like to use it for other things too! :)
Will cooking this same size recipe be ok in the 6qt IP?, I am deciding what size to buy. Thank you for your time and sharing this great recipe.
Yes, this will definitely work in a 6 quart!! I also have that size and use it, as well. You'll love your Instant Pot!!
Wondering if you get the usual greasy oil residue as you would with regular meat loaf made in the oven. What type of ground beef do you use? Regular chopped meat or lean? Thanks.
Hi Irene. I don't have a problem with residue, but for the ground beef, I do use lean (93%).
You are light weight funny!! Totally subscribe to ur channel đ
Girl!! Buy a box of food gloves this is one of the greatest uses for them :D Also pumping gas... cleaning gunk in the house etc.
I highly recommend investing in a kitchenaid stand mixer. It's made all of my recipes from desserts to meatloaf & custom seasoned burgers MUCH easier.
My fav kitchen gadget is my K aid mixer - all purpose everything - from grinding roasts into hamburger to making flakey pie crusts!
@@BGmary yep I've taken over making family recipes that been in the family for generations, so my parents got us 1 for Christmas. It has the paddle with the rubber edges that scrapes the inside of the bowl & it works awesome. My grandmother's recipe for chocolate chip cookies is from WWII & Calls for Oleo. My wife had no idea what that was. Lol. My grandmother would make huge batches & send them to the USO to give out at events & such for our soldiers. She would send them directly to my grandpa to put out at mess & sometimes all they had to eat were the rations. He said it made the guys feel a little better if just for a minute they were that good! Sorry, I just love sharing that story. I get a little choked up each time do. Lol!
Looks like a "steamed" offering. To dry it out a bit, and to give it a bit of crispness (less wetness), place it under the broiler for 3-5 minutes before serving. You could even put a glaze on it before going under the broiler....
Definitely yes to this.
irProteus, you can now dry out the top by using the new accessory for your 6 or 8 qt. pressure cooker that has a stainless steel insert. It is the Mealthy CrispLid. It is $50. And performs as an Airfryer and or broiler. Check it out at Mealthy.com or on Facebook. NOT available on AMAZON yet, but maybe in the future.
@@SandwichLady $50 ??? Are you serious ?? I'll put in in my oven a couple of minutes !! I paid enough for this pot plus accessories, thank you very much ! đđ€Šđ»ââïž
that "plastic thingy" is a rice scooper ;) lol
I have the pot in pot for the Instant pot....Potatoes on the bottom, meatloaf on the top and it all fits perfectly
Yes! That's a great way to get the whole meal for sure!
I enjoyed your video and think you are adorable! Can't wait to watch more of your videos.
Michaelaz62 you're very sweet! Thanks!
I use tomato sauce in my meatloaf, plus the meat i use is combo hamburger, ground pork & ground veal.
I love that combo of meat!! I'm sure it's fantastic!
What could you suggest to use as a substitute for the breadcrumbs? Your recipe is amazing.
Rolled oats or crushed crackers!
Rice or Lupine flakes.
Subscribed :)
Great video it is hard to cook along with you as music is loud
Then when you pull out the meatloaf keep it warm in the oven or in the foil and then throw some potatoes in with a cup of water for 10 mins and boom mashed potatoes as a side! I love making mashed potatoes in my instantpot way faster than the stove way!
Hi! I was looking into buying an instant pot but saw that there was a lead warning. What are your thoughts on about it??
I am not aware of any legitimate lead warnings with the Instant Pot. In fact the study I read specifically found no detectable lead at all, so I"m not entirely sure where you got your information. I do know that I don't hesitate to cook for my entire family in an Instant Pot! love it! :)
Meatloaf looks delicious going to try it. Quick question, do you think you could put the meatloaf in a cake pan instead of foil to cook?
Yes, Stan I'm sure that's fine. Just make sure the pan fits into your Instant Pot inner pot. Also make sure to put it on top of the trivet, and don't forget to add the water underneath the trivet! :)
broiler i would
I so enjoyed your video. I also love the top you have on. Mind sharing where you got it?
Ha! Thanks Ava! I actually think I got this one from Kohl's! :)
đ Hi. The perfectly rounded spoon is a rice spoon. đ
You didn't mention how much meat you're making ? I really didn't want to have to download recipes to find out. I'm watching this video for that. I really needed to know if I can make a 3 lb meatloaf ?
Thanks.
Thanks about the spoon! I use it for everything! lol! This recipe is 2 pounds of meat, but you certainly could do 3. I would add 5 minutes of cooking time if you do that though. (Also, just so you know... the link just goes to the recipe on my website, so you don't have to download it if you don't want to! :) )
@@Thespicyapron Oh, I understand. Sadly, the 8 Qt pots do not include the spoon. lol I'm just happy the trivet was included !
Ok, I looked awhile & had never come across one person who was making a 3 lb meatloaf. For MY family, a 2 lb one would end up as an appetizer ! ha
Thank you !! And thanks for your channel ! â„ïžđđ»ââïž
I would think that bad boy would be even better if you ran it under the broiler for a few minutes to crisp up the top and caramelize the sauce a bit.
Can I make this meatloaf a little more firm? I did subscribe so I can get more videos and recipes
Judith Reimer yep! Just use 1 egg instead of 2 and a little less bbq sauce!
Add bread slices crumpled up
I would suggest a lot less cream....if any.
A steamed meatloaf? My family would disown me
I wash my hand first. Until i started using my kitchen aid. But i never put foil next to my food. Aluminium leeches into any acid foods.
It is either Worcester sauce, or Worcestershire.. or as we say it Lea & Perrins. đŹđ§đ
I like your Lea & Perrins choice!
I use a CorningWare dish instead of foil. Foil is not good for you when it gets heated
How many pounds of beef are you using and if we use more would the cooking time be increased?
I used 1 pound of beef plus 1 pound of sausage. You should not have to increase the cooking time if you add more meat. (Although, if you double it, then I would add an additional 5 minutes)
518 solar drive?
Every Asian household here and abroad as my fiance is Chinese and back in China have a rice paddle just like you have.
Yes, it's a rice paddle. But the good news is it can be used for lots of things! Very durable!
I cooked a 2 lb.meat loaf in mine.45 mins. on high pressure in the steamer pan.cup of water in the bottom. At the end I let the pressure off .Well the meatloaf was luke warm didn't even burn my hand.Cool in the middle.I threw it away because 45 mins. no warmer than that I was afraid that it was spoiled. What do you thank?
Hi Robin. I can't imagine why the meat would have been cook after 45 minutes of pressure cooking! That's very strange. I've never had that issue, and in fact mine is usually so hot that we have to let it sit awhile. I'm not sure what steamer pan you used, but I can't imagine that's what the problem was. As you sure it sealed properly? That's my only thought. And I do not think it was spoiled, so I would have put it back in for more time, but that's just me.. :)
I know you said you cooked it for 45 minutes and then let the pressure off!!! Are you sure or 100% about this. Are you sure itâs on SEALING MODE?
Can you use parchment paper instead of aluminum foil?
I've never done that, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. Give it a try and let me know!
@@Thespicyapron I'm still waiting on my Instant Pot to arrive, but I did find a video by Quick Carry titled Salmon En Papillote for the Instant Pot. Fancy name but looks promising!
Thanks for the great recipe! I'm also planning on trying parchment paper or some other dish instead of the tinfoil because tinfoil releases toxins when heated so should not be used for grilling or baking or this
@@Morgan-ug4sm You are correct on leeching toxins, but it's aluminum, not tin.
Y
I didn't see or hear if you added water to the IP before adding the meatloaf in foil?
Yes, Gloria! You do add water to the IP before adding the steam rack and the meatloaf in foil. This enables it to come to full pressure. I add 1 cup of water.
The Spicy Apron Wish you would add that part somewhere in the video.
Actually, she did. She used the rice cup that comes with the Instant Pot. It was where she was talking about the 3/4 size.
How did you avoid a "food burn" message? I didn't see you add any liquid. I did the same thing you did but put the trivet in and got that message during pre-heating.
Did you follow the recipe? In step 4 it says to add 1 cup of liquid under the trivet. So if you do that, you should have no problem at all!
How much meat did you use? I ask because I make a 3 lb meatloaf and wondered, first if that much would fit in the 6 qt instant pot and secondly, if 40 min would be the proper amount of time to cook 3 pounds of meat.
Yes, 3 pounds will fit for sure and I would add 5 minutes to the cooking time.
The Spicy Apron thank you. That is half the time my oven cooks a meatloaf. I love my instant pot and cook tons of things in it. This will be great.

I purchased your Cooking with your Instant Pot Mini and the recipe for spaghetti squash (page 132) is a blank page.
Hey Linda. Yes, that is an unfortunate typo. The spaghetti squash is on page 121. My publisher is aware of this typo and it should be fixed with the next printing of the book (Sadly, there were 2 or 3 typos in the first couple of editions, and this is one of them.). Sorry for the confusion! :)
Thanks for the update. By the way, the meatloaf was great.
Doesnât look done, to,wet is why I think it may have fallen apart, I have done a meatloaf in my 3qt, then broiler to,glaze the top, I do my meatloaf in the air fryer now.
I put corn flakes in mine
Good idea! I'll try that!
My 8 quart Instant Pot Duo didnt come with that utensil.
đ Hi, I purchased the 8 Qt Duo as well ! I know, I was letting her know we didn't get the "rice" spoon, and I felt lucky they even gave us a trivet !! đđ

Love Meatloaf ..but Carrots? Ok i'll give it a try
DId you try it?? It's actually good, isn't it? :)
I've put cut up potatoes in the bottom and cooked for 17 minutes and it comes out perfect. That looks good though!
Pro tip: Put a microphone on your talent or suspend a boom pole above to capture clean audio.
Good tip! (I actually already started to do that... here's one of my newer episodes where I did that. Check it out and let me know what you think! Here's the link: czcams.com/video/vCDn3HJrqm0/video.html )
This is how it looks like when you don't know how to cook.
Does everyone know the definition of the word âsecretâ?
That plastic thing is the RICE SPOON
Yep! But I use it for everything with my Mini! Love it!
Love this video! I use the rice paddle to divert the steam away from my cabinets after releasing the valve with the hole in its handle. No need to buy a 'special' diverter and you save $10.
Wished I could get my 6 yo to eat it. Lol
Give it some time... they all come around!
I make meatloaf 10 min to make 1hour in oven not hard
