Vinayak Damodar "Veer" Savarkar; He was born on 28 May 1883 - 26 February 1966) was an Indian politician, activist, and writer. He developed the Hindu nationalist political ideology of Hindutva while imprisoned at Ratnagiri in 1922. He was a leading figure in the Hindu Mahasabha.
Savarkar joined the Hindu Mahasabha and popularized the term Hindutva (Hinduness), previously coined by Chandranath Basu, to create a collective "Hindu" identity as an essence of Bharat (India). Savarkar was an atheist[8] and also a pragmatic practitioner of Hindu philosophy.

His 'Kaalapani' punishment in Andaman's Cellular Jail was so brutal and confined that for three years he did not know that his brother (Ganesh Savarkar) was imprisoned in the same prison in the cell right next to his. Such was the brutal punishment he had. During his solitary confinement, he 'carved' his writings on the walls of his cell using the sharp edges of his handcuffs, and some of such marks can still be seen to this day in his prison cell, which is located in such a place in the prison that, the only thing he could see was the live hanging of other prisoners. Hats off to his positive spirit and determination!
Both brothers met each other in the jail in 1911 only, not after three years. See the Biography of Babarao Savarkar. P.46.

Here is another story. The torture in Andaman prison was so horrendous that only two people in its entire history made it out alive.
One was savarkar, after writing his infamous apology.

I bought a book recently written by Subhas Chandra Bose "The Indian Struggle" and some fact is clear with me that if Gandhi had hand in the Independence of India then the people like Bose Savarkar Deshbandhu Das(C.R. Das) and Lokmanya Tilak have their legs in getting the Independence of India.

Have visited this Jail in Andaman.. My heart cried out for all our freedom fighters and especially for Veer Savarkar as he could see all the fighters being hanged. he was gifted writer no doubt. But veer? One shouldn't confuse the two. It is easy to display bravado with writing, but when life was line he saved his own skin. Further there is ample evidence of his collaboration with Brits after his release. That, certainly tainted his legacy. People are not trolling, they are being objective. Bhagat singh, Rajguru were brave. They made ultimate sacrifice. Savarkar chose survival and collected pension!

fristly muslim leader said Muslims are in danger and asked Britishers for reservation
the british started its divide and rule policy gave them reservation and stuff
then savarkar came to rise he also asked for reservation for hindus he thought hindus were in danger
after some time he was behind bars in andaman and nicobar the Britishers gave him two sentences
then he wrote 2 mercy letters and his family members wrote 6 and promised that he will never protest against them
eventually in general election 1937 the rss won only 1 seat inc wins 707 and muslim league wins 107
in war 2nd world war he asked hindus to fight for britishers and in return he want a domain for hindus and muslim leagues jinnah did the same thing
when subhas chandra bose was in japan for azad hind faug he asked both of them not to fight for british but they didn't listen to him
jinnah and savarkar both wanted partition to happen
in history he never wanted india to be free after coming from kala pani he just wanted a domin for hindus
i dont know about history is rewritten or not but you cant deny the fact
