- Once the Avengers save the universe at the end of Avengers: Endgame, Captain America chooses to go back in time and live his life with Peggy Carter. In the present day, he is now an old man, and he decides to give his Captain America shield to Sam Wilson.

If my math is wrong 70+70=140 plus add that he was in his 20's/30's so he's over 160-170, which makes him the grandpa... I think 😂

Becoming Cap is not just about having took a super serum. It's about having a good heart and the ideal to stand for what's right. He is really as strong as captain..but suddenly from civil war onwards MCU started de-powering him to make cap look stronger. Slowly , Surely & cleverly has was ridden to a glorified extra state! I have no complaints of him not given the shield ..he probably never wanted it..and Winter soldier arc is worth exploring as he is such a mysterious & intriguing character by himself....what irkes me is reducing his screen time to bare minimum was really horrid and political! I love Cap but he was such a vanilla..bringing a polar opposite winter soldier gave spice to Cap' character from WS movie onwards...but then sadly winter soldier himself was lost! That said Seb is perfect WS and Chris is perfect CA.

I agree that Bucky may not be ready for the shield yet. But, Falcon isn't anything 'super human'. He's a great pilot and can fly his winged jet pack. But look at the beatings Steve was able to take. Falcon won't be able to do that. He couldn't even outrun Steve around DC.

Let's be realistic about this once and for all. Sam Wilson = normal person. If he plans on replacing Captain America, Sam Wilson would die on his first mission alone. Fact. He's not a super soldier. A bad guy like say Loki, Ultron, or Killmonger would kill Sam Wilson in 60 seconds or less. Fact. Plus Steve Rogers knows this and would NEVER put his good friend Sam Wilson in this kind of danger to begin with. Bucky Barnes on the other IS a super soldier just like Steve Rogers. One interesting aspect of why he didn’t get the shield they totally missed: the public wouldn’t trust him as Captain America, they’re familiar with him as being the super assassin (in civil war). So to make the worlds deadliest assassin the leader of the avengers would be pretty scary for ordinary citizens.

Tbh, I'm kinda disappointed that Steve didn't handle his shield to Bucky. I mean probably because I expected too much with the fan theories or I thought that they were foreshadowing Bucky holding shield in the First Avenger and Winter Soldier. He has super strength and metal arm (plus, from what I know, Winter Soldier as CA in the comics is amazing). So yeah, I thought that would happen in End Game but I understand why they made Falcon as CA instead. Even if Steve will give it to Bucky, he knows that he'll refuse. Bucky is still guilty especially killing Howard. And the shield is made by him so it's kinda awkward. Even Tony wanted the shield back in Civil War. Hahaha. Falcon is already saving a lot of people back in the day and he's also loyal so Steve considered him as the next CA. But I agree, if logically speaking, if he doesn't have super serum he might not last long. Probably he'll have it in Falcon and Winter Soldier.

It ultimately would've been Bucky's choice but in episode 2, it was evidenced that he cared for Steve and the sheild was his legacy, so the fact sam gave it away to inadvertently make a new, more brutal Captain America really hit bucky hard, so he could be the new Captain America after getting the sheild back from John Walker
The full point of the show is that Sam does not need the serum to be captain america, he does not even think about it. Why is people so obssesed with making sam a super soldier.

And during Civil War, when Tony finds out that Bucky killed his parents, he reacted like every normal human being would. *So here's my theory.* The way Bucky was talking, it seemed as though Buck and old Cap already talked about it. As if Cap already asked him, and Bucky said no. However, he recommended Falcon. So that's why Cap chose Falcon. Because Bucky said no. This could be a plot point in the future.

Sam’s main fighting style is from his wings/jet pack where a metal shield would just seem to get in the way of his acrobatic fighting style. Despite what they do in the films, Marvel has a rich history that includes the Falcon as Caps partner for decades. When Bucky returned he did become Captain America for a bit but has actually done better as the Winter Soldier. Same with Falcon, as he recently became the new Captain America and was for quite some time recently. Turning the mantle to Sam in the MCU just follows the current trend.

In the Brubaker comics, which serve as the basis to the modern Cap portrayal, Steve wants Bucky to be Cap in part to heal him. To give him the chance to be the good man Steve knows Bucky to be. Bucky might not trust his own mind, but Steve ALWAYS did. I mean, that's the whole point to not killing Bucky in Winter Soldier.
Aside from that, Bucky in the films is already a super soldier. I heard the Russo's make the confusing statement that the shield is a weapon and that Bucky shouldn't be given weapons. Uh...you mean aside from the last several movies? And his bionic arm IS a weapon. HE is a weapon.

I seriously doubt anything could keep Cap from rescuing his best friend in his new timeline. Heck, if Peggy weren't such a perfect woman, and Steve already knew she would marry someone else in his absence, Cap may have gone to save Bucky before taking that long awaited dance. Even so, I believe Bucky did grow old with him, and took on the mantle of Captain America when Steve and Peggy were ready to calm down a bit.

I've been thinking about that too and it would make sense. Just think abou the upcoming TV Show of Bucky and Falcon which comes out later this Year.Falcon wants to give Bucky the Shield after seeing him doing all the good things through the TV Show but Bucky won't accept it because he still feels guilty about the things he did in the Past. Then Old Steve Rogers shows up to Change Bucky's mind but still refuses to take the Shield. A few days later Steve passes away and we see Bucky standing in front of Cap's grave all sad and thinking about the last conversation that he and his best friend had before he passed. In the final Episode we see Bucky take the Shield and becoming the new Cap which will lead to a Solo Winter Soldier/Cap Movie. It would be so epic if something like this happens!
