I really want to know how Google Fit works in 2023 for those of us not wanting to dip into the Fitbit universe.
I honestly feel like it's going to go away because there's no point of having two fitness apps, especially when one is dedicated for all of their wearables
@@therealzuluking there is an entire world outside of Fitbit though, and all those other services and platforms that also gather data need somewhere to go when they're not big enough to have their own giant apps. Especially with Fitbit account migration requiring a Google account, it's only getting muddier. It's a shame that the continuous heart rate monitoring is locked into Fitbit, but the Fossil watches and Mobvoi watches still need to populate their data somewhere too. All of the smart scales that integrate with Google Fit are still there too, and don't sync to Fitbit. There's so much Fit can do in the background.
Does this watch have barre and yoga options for workouts
You can have your Pixel watch unlock your Pixel phone though, it's in the phones security section in extend unlock. It's been like that for a couple years now.
I believe once the watch has been setup and paired to a phone, it can operate independently using any wifi network you synched from the phone.
Can it function as a standalone watch? Stream music to a BT headset and send texts via apps (i.e. WhatsApp) by itself?
@@davidvandersterre usually those apps require them to be connected to your phone, so I'm not sure.
If the app requires a code for setup, then most likely it's not going to work without your phone on the same network.
The code method basically setups a gateway to your phone.
I know Google and Whatsapp are working on having their apps work on multiple devices via a login instead of the gateway method.
@@HansAramburo I think I asked it wrong; can I take just the watch and I.e. send texts whilst listening to music? I'm really more interested in smart capabilities than in the fitness stuff. A replacement for most of my main phone stuff.
Meanwhile, I have seen on the internet that later this year a PW3 will be released in a bigger format. Since that seems like it's one of the main issues most people have I'm probably going to buy that anyways. Meanwhile I'm stuck with my TicWatch C2 from 2018. Looking forward to seeing what the future holds...
@@davidvandersterre if you are asking can you leave the phone in your pocket while out and about yes. As long as your phone and watch are connected via Bluetooth you will be able to text.
If you want to be out and about without your phone, then you would need an LTE version with a separate line with data for your watch.
If you are talking about being in your house with wifi, you wouldn't need your phone in Bluetooth range. It will work through wifi.
If you just want to listen to music with Bluetooth headset, then yes you can leave your phone at home.
You would need to make sure your music app has a phone version you can install on your phone.
The phone version should have a way to transfer the music locally to the watch.

The fast charging makes an enormous difference for me. My charging routine is during breakfast or any meal of the day. 45 minutes later and it is always sitting with 100%. After switching away from apple, I was hesitant about all watches being super slow, but it is so much better than Apple's watch. FYI, only Apple products charge slowly.

Any idea if gps tracking on outdoor running improved?
fitness data collected by the Fitbit app from the PW can be sync to google fit via Health connect. But is anyone know how to edit/revise the fitbit data (eg: estimated distance to actual distance that we have ran) after a treadmill run
Can you sync to google fit or other apps to get the missing features in Fitbit premium
Can you sync Spotify to the watch from the phone and change episodes or podcasts on the watch w/o taking out your phone or if you are charging your Phone in the other room
I have a fitbit charge 6, am I able to use both the charge 6 (for sleep tracking and rougher activities)and also the pixel watch 2 on the same fitbit account. It is the only thing keeping me from buying the watch right now.
Fitbit premium definitely does broadcast to TV , I do this myself and you don't need to pay £180 for an apple TV or £320 for an iPad to connect your phone too

I just tried listening to podcasts on spotify and the watch seems to work correctly with the skip forward or rewind. The issue you mentioned could be caused by the pocket cast app itself. Maybe it needs an update, who knows

primarily I am interested in health/stress tracking and long battery life. In terms of health/stress tracking the sense 2 is as good as the watch 2 but the sense 2 has a far battery life although the battery capacity is much smaller.
What if I turn on all the tracking possibilities for health tracking also the cEda and sleep tracking on both devices but turn off everything else possible for energy safing which device would then have the longer battery life?
HI I have an iPhone and iwatch BUT really really like this Pixel 2 watch. Could I use the Pixel 2 watch with my iPhone please? I dont really need all the fit stuff (in my 70's and old bones), but would like to use it for changing watch faces, and getting texts to my watch. Also when does the Pixel 3 watch come out please?
Great and thorough review! So something that wasn't mentioned, probably because it's a small thing, but I'm assuming they have not updated the functionality that the Pixel Watch 2 does not register a Google Maps navigation session when initiated through Android Auto. If you start it from the watch itself or the phone itself it will give directions prompts on the watch, but for some reason not when initiated through Android Auto (even though that's technically being initiated from the phone as well). Hopefully they update that soon, likely a server side thing.
I just received a brand new PW2, and it constantly will not vibrate when I get texts or notifications and also the heart rate monitor rarely shows current heart rate, I am constantly resetting phone and watch and these issues still persist
If you enable health sync all your fitbit data will also show up in your Google fit. Works great especially if you have different fitness trackers and want to aggregate all your data into one all. I do this with my PW2, GW5 and charge 5
Simple wear app on wear os has a media player that works with pocket casts. Has the ff and rr and Mark played buttons that you expect PC to have
Overall, I do really like my PW2 and all the functionality. The only issue is when a workout is started, the watch automatically turns 'AOD' on (which I don't want) and when the workout is completed the 'AOD' setting stays on. If I turn 'AOD' off, I want it to stay off or at least be asked if I would like to have it turned on whilst working out.
In options of the fit bit you can turn aod on Training off

Can't connect Pixel 2 with Wear OS 4.0. WHY?
How do I exit a running app? Navigation is running I can't figure how to exit the app it's still displayed at bottom of the screen..

Good review. Lots of my questions answered. I have a Pixel 6 and I'm torn between the Pixel Watch 2 and the Galaxy Watch 6. I kind of want to keep inside the Pixel universe but I think the Samsung might be better.

I have both. Watch 6 is much better in every way. I use my pixel watch when at work because of the smaller design

You can sync to or from Google Fit though Health Connect app.
U can also choose the items to sync and the direction.
LTE is only compatible with certain carriers. Here in the UK only EE & Vodafone, I don't know why nobody is pointing this out. I purchased one only to find out the LTE feature is not compatible with O2.
What's really confusing to me is all the apps needed to use this watch. At first, i had just the pixel watch app. Then i wanted to track sleep, so I needed the fitbit app.
Then i wanted to measure my heart rate manually. Couldn't figure out how to do it other than to install Google Fit. Then i was able to measure my heart, like what's easy in the Samsung Health app on their watch 6.
I have been reading where if you are on the unlimited phone plan with Google Fi like I am, then there is no additional fee to connect your Pixel 2 LTE watch to the network. I'm super excited because there are plenty of places (like the gym) that i would like to go without having to drag along and keep up with my Pixel phone!

+++ I bought wifi pixel watch 2 wifi [not LTE] and I can’t play CZcams music, I am connected on my wifi pixel 8 pro, have wifi, I can see my CZcams music downloads on my watch and pic a song , press play however, when it does, it is asking me to choose a device to pair it with my watch unit. I am puzzled. Any suggestions?
Thats why ill keep my galaxy watch classic, I get all the fitbit premium info for free, except for the workouts and audio.
I would wait until the third or fourth iteration of the pixel watch. Maybe google will be more decisive about their hardware and software

Hi, I have a couple questions:
1. Does the pixel watch 2 have nap detection? How short can the nap be?
2. Does a nap in the day improve your sleep score?
I want to trade my pixel watch but I'm not sure yet.
So it’s a pretty but quite expensive fitness band. Got it. That’s a shame. Not everyone is young and into tracking their workouts. How about more integration with other smartphone functions and apps? I’d love it if they yanked all those sensors and either dropped the price or filled that space with a battery that lasts for days!
Not having powershare from pixel is really dealbreaker. One of great features in comparison to apple watch+iphone gone. Very sad.

@@6MonthsLater not having to bring a cable with me for a weekend trip. It was always annoying - I forgot the cable many times when I was using apple watch. So this feature sounded like a solution.
Am i missing something? Since when is it possible with apple watch? The iphone 15 series does not support reverse wireless charging at all.

@@7medo7 ok I misunderstood, but you couldn't even charge the Pixel watch 1 on the back of the phone. So it's actually not losing anything. But this still would be a great feature.

I think you’re referring to smart lock. But that’s not the same as unlocking the watch with your pixel’s unlock. That’s the thing I want. Smart lock is a cool feature though - Josh
Seriously the battery is so disappointing. If you plan to use the watch for sport and hearing music at the same time, you can expect to charge your watch twice a day. So disappointing for a watch for that price. If you just want a watch that shows you the time then I guess its fine, but what's the point of having a smartwatch if you have to charge it at least once a day
It's absolutely disgusting that they charge a monthly fee for "premium" features on a $400 watch. Even Apple ain't this greedy.
Add the watch to your trusted device, the phone will remain unlocked

Extend unlock/trusted devices does the opposite of what I want. I want the watch to automatically unlock when I unlock my Pixel. Unless I'm just completely missing something, Extend Unlock is only designed to keep your phone unlocked via other devices. - Josh
This Pocket Cast issue (lack of sync between devices) is unbelievable. What a flaw!
Samsung Health is getting better and better and it's free.
It works fine with Android.

Google should do the same. It's what keeps me from sleeping with my Pixel. Even records my snoring.
