I upgraded from the Pixel 6 Pro to the 8 Pro because I wanted the upgraded camera features and image quality. I'm happy I did because the Ultra HDR images are much better. I also liked getting a "free" Pixel Watch 2 😊

Same here. I upgraded from the 6 pro. I mostly did it for the new processor, camera upgrades and the free pixel watch 2. I usually trade up every two years because I still want to get a good trade in deal for my phone.
I usually upgrade every 2 years as well, but Google had a special offer of $400 off the Pix 8 Pro for existing Google Fi customers. After trading in my Pixel 7 Pro, that's only around $250 for the upgrade which is definitely an easy win in my book!
Something I've noticed regarding the recorder app is that it actually records the mic at a lower quality than recording a video with the camera, so keep that in mind!
Google ecosystem is a lot more open indeed. I can even use Google apps on iPhones, MacBooks, Windows laptops. Apple ecosystem feels like a comfortable prison.

I upgraded from the 7 Pro to the 8 Pro solely for the improved video quality and improved battery life, and have been very happy with both!
"Should I wait til next year" seems like a useless question more and more. At some point you'll have to get over this insecurity, in an industry where the next version is ALWAYS on the horizon. I think what you should ask instead is, based on what I currently have, what does this phone improve upon; and is it a large improvement? Of course the Pixel 9 and iPhone 16 and what's in the future will ALWAYS be better (presumably) so you're always thinking about waiting and saving. So think about what you have now, and whether it's a big enough improvement based on reviews.
Bruh, i could not have said any better. I'm STILL currently using my fav phone (for now 😁) HTC U12+ from 2018! B4 that my first flagship was HTC One M8 back in High School. I never buy the very first re-design of a product and I also don't like odd numbers so I skipped the P6 & 7.
That said, I just purchased full price Pixel 8 256GB cuz it will be a large improvement lol. And if I'm really impressed I will definitely upgrade to the Pixel 10 PRO in 2025.

Like other videos. I upgraded my Pixel 8 from Pixel 7, because the Best buy deal was great and definitely Pixel 8 is better phone like battery life, size and more years upgrades.

Having previously used a Chinese-brand smartphone, I'm seriously considering the Pixel 8 Pro for my next upgrade. Could you please tell me the maximum charging speed of the 8 Pro? I'm accustomed to the rapid 67W charging of my current phone, and I'm concerned that I might find the charging process frustrating if it takes longer, as I'm used to fully charging my phone in just 20-30 minutes.

I managed to overheat mine today outside. Was working in my car watching a CZcams video of how to change out a part on the shifter with all the doors open. I hadn't broken a sweat so I didn't feel it was super hot inside the car. It's 88*F for reference. Anyways I was trying to take some photos of a part and I got a message saying phone was too warm so Macro Mode was disabled and after I tried to resume the CZcams video the screen dimmed so much it was almost pitch black for about 39 seconds. I think the fact it was streaming video over LTE and the brightness was maxing out probably did it.
Very disappointing. My phone also gets warm while doing light tasks like Instagram and watching videos on yt over WiFi. It's ridiculous.
Yet, none of these CZcamsers have said anything about the overheating, all they say is that it doesn't overheat.

So far, recording videos hasn't yielded that warm/hot issues that I experienced with my 6 Pro.
I Love the new Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, the battery is great along with the camera and Google Assistant features. I just Love the temperature Sensor and find this feature very!! useful.
It'd be nice if you could comment your experience with battery drain while on idle because I think it drains too much, all the phones that I've own keep 100% for a long time the first few weeks but the pixel doesn't, it also kills random apps in the background for no reason and it's something unacceptable in a phone with 12GB of RAM

Excellent review. I was all in an upgrading to the 8 pro from my 6 Pro but now hesitate. I don't shoot much videos so the advances there don't really affect me. One main reason I want to upgrade is the battery life of my 6 has really declined over the past 2 years. Tough when I travel.
I experienced the same with my P6P, the battery was great when I bought it, but tanked over the years, even though I never noticed a big difference in estimated battery capacity.
The Pixel 8 Pro has great battery life thus far, and great idle battery drain too, rivaling the iPhone I tried using before I pre-ordered this one. Let's hope it stays that way!

I stared closely at the Pixel 8 shot after the guy was complaining about the "chin" and holy sh*t MAYBE it's a millimeter or so? Maybe it's NOT it's that damn close... SERIOUSLY people must be living DAMN GOOD lives if this kinda thing even registers on their "list of comments" 😅
I really REALLY dislike the yellowish filter on iPhone photos. Matter of taste of course, definitely not my thing in any case.
Am still enjoying my Pixel 7. Android 14 made it even better. I think I'll skip Pixel 8.
I have Pixel 8. Front camera is bad when I use video call (Facebook messenger or Telegram). It is worse than my LG V50 and iphone 13 in term of video call. Not sure it is hardware or software problem.
its not a hardware not software issue. the pixel 8, pixel 7, 7 pro, 6, and 6 pro selfies cameras are no good because the selfies are not auto focus. the autofocus on the 8 pro is amazing. crazy good. i love using it now. reminds me of the awesome auto focus selfie cam on the pixel 3 but even more better.
@@allenstevenson5986 I figured out after some days. It is the software problem. Video call using Google mail (meeting function) showed very good quality, while video call using third party apps such as facebook messenger was terrible.
Other than Camera features what is good of Pixel pro 8 over iPhone 15 pro max ? What about Security & Phone hacking ?

Why didn't Google sell Pixel 8 $399 directly from Google Store or Best Buy without earbuds or trade-in? Because Google wants Apple customers and upgrading every year, no thanks Google.
I think it's more to do with getting out their other products. Google announced that this phone will receive seven years of updates. I agree, there should be an option where you could just buy it without the free pixel watch or earbuds, but I'll take it.

@@danielholland3991 oppo and xiaomi users in my family and been using phones for 4 years it it still works like magic, no issues and makes life easy with mind blowing futuristic features, charging phones in 10-15 minutes never fails to give us joy even after so many years. also tried the oppo enco x2 earbuds and they sound better than all other earbuds I tried which also include, airpods pro 2, bowers and wilkins pi7, bang and olfsen and many more

This is a ridiculously biased review. Even though I have a pixel 8 pro, how can you say the battery even REMOTELY lasts as much as the 15 pro max?? In every test and comparison the 15pm out lasts the pixel 8 pro by around 30-30%...

Yeah but how can you say that it's a biased review... Everyone's usage on the phone and what they do are completely different... I've had the phone about a week now and I am a moderate to heave use person myself with my phone and I have gotten close to two days out of my pixel 8 pro.. not even using battery saver or anything..

Purchased the 8 coming from the 6. I'm sorry I listened to all these shilling CZcamsrs because I really don't see any difference. Def not one worth paying $700 for. The screen is more clear and sharper on the 6. The brightness is about the same and the 6 has a bigger screen. I wasted $700 thanks to CZcams shillers that got the phones free.
So just return the phone and quit crying on CZcams
I have the pixel 6 I'm going to use until it's not supported then I'll upgrade, the only issue it's that it doesn't have the best cellular network but everything else is still good.
Pixel 7 pro images looked better and more realistic than pixel 8 pro, the ultra wide on 7 pro looked much better and didn't have the fish look like the 8 pro, the zoomed photos on the pixel 7 pro have much more detail than the 8 pro, and the portrait mode on 8 pro is wworse than any other pixel except pixel 1.
