It’s not letting me watch man 😞 edit : never mind! 🔥
I think you’d love Lawless mate, Tom Hardy being amazing, check the trailer out.
great video man, still waiting for Black Hawk Down tho
Ninja Assassin is an absolute must watch
Hateful 8, I love the time period it's set in, also you seem to be a fan of good dialogue and it's packed with it
Fun fact: Waltz won his first Oscar playing a nazi and his second playing an anti racist doc.

@@randomantonnot true. I'm racist and not afraid to admit it unlike most. Me, just like most others, won't hurt anyone for no reason or step over anyone to get to the top, though. I do think I'm better, I do think most others are bad people, and I do think we shouldn't mix. I think that's a lot of people and it's literally a part of our pattern recognition systems to spot predators for our survival. I can respect, for example, the rapper Cam'ron more than I can respect the Wayans brothers because he at least admits it unlike most trying to be righteous.
Going from Django to this must be so trippy. The nicest good guy to the baddest of bad, Christoph Waltz is something else.
Landa was truly the nicest man
I had no clue about this guy before Django......I had SEEN him of course but never took notice.
The man is legitimately one of the most talented actors to ever live
Top 5 EASY
Good point. Basterds then Django feels more natural bc of this alone
I feel the same way about Gary Oldman. After watching Leon the Professional I have a hard time trusting Commissioner Gordon 👀

47:27 the "Oui, Shosanna" is honestly one of the best lines in the film.
For me it's "say aufwiedersehn to your Nazi balls" 🤣
I always replay that scene, im glad its appreciated by others
i love the scene in the bar when he says he wants to go out speaking the kings
Never batter than the ICONIC “Au revoir Shoshanna!” in the intro.
Better than? ARRIIIVEDEEEEEEECI
Nominated for 8 Oscars including Best Picture, but won for Best Supporting Actor to Christoph Waltz.
"That's a Bingo."
And Christoph Waltz also won Best Supporting Oscar for his work in Django Unchained. Talk about freakin' talented.
You just say bingo😂😂
@@ClintBeastBud its a quote from the movie
@@Jayd888 so is what he said fool, it’s the next line brodie
Christoph actually speaks fluent English, French and German but only a little Italian, Inglorious Basterds almost never got made because they could not fill the role of Landa, then along came Christoph.
That is why the opening scene is so powerful, the just perfect swap from French to English, then Back from English to French.
In France and Germany, it's not so rare anymore to have people fluent in these languages. People with immigration background even speak a fourth language.
Exactly. I’m from Germany and anyone learns English in school for atleast 8 years. Most Germans can speak English and many many fluently. But in Germany we don’t only learn one foreign language but at least two (there’s the option to learn even more). It’s not mandatory to take French as your 2nd foreign language but most do (there’s also the option to choose Latin, Spain or other languages depending on your school. Then you learn this 2nd foreign language for at least 4 years as well. If you’re from an immigrant family it’s very likely (almost guaranteed) that you speak 3 language (German, English and the language of his/her parents) and you know at least a little French. A girl from my former school class has Vietnamese parents and speaks German, English, French and Vietnamese fluently (like really fluently) and knew enough Korean to communicate properly. I feel like people from the US or UK don’t really understand how normal it is for other to speak at least 2 languages fluently.
(I looked up for statistics about Germany and about 65% Germans speak English and about 25% speak English perfectly fluent. I didn’t find good statistics about the french language but about 20% Germans speak french)
Like Waltz, I am from Austria. Do not forget that he also speaks Austrian German, which is a German dialect, but with different syntax and grammar. It still is German, but you immediately know if somebody speaks high German or Austrian or Swiss. Waltz speaks perfect high German as well.
@@hermanubis7046 Why are there so many dumb Germans/French? I always hear "Bi/multilingual people are so much more clever" They really aren't lol.
@@geraldherrmann787 has the same syntax and grammar with minimal variations lol
34:41 "Well, if this is it, old boy, I hope you don't mind if I go out speaking the King's."
Love that line.
Other little details of that opening scene. When Landa grabs the daughter's wrist and asks her for the milk, some believe he was checking her pulse in that moment (if true, makes it even scarier how sharp he is for clues). The other detail the father splashing himself before Landa meets him, was to hide any sweat he might have during his conversation, this way he appears already sweaty from working on the farm, when he likely would have sweat from the nerves. Anyway, great reaction!
Ehh doesn’t really make sense to me, anyones pulse would be high if nazis came to their house
I believe both of those details are a bit of a reach. especially the pulse one.
The father is seen working before the Nazis pull up to his farm, when he notices the cars he stops and washes himself off as to be presentable to the Nazis
I don't think it's that deep
Landa grabbing the daughter by the wrist is a subtle show of power. It's a subtle act of disrespect but there's nothing the Father can do. The Germans are literally dominating the French this entire movie (and moment in actual history). They simply have to take it.
It also helps with Landa's plan. The Father cracks because of the implication of danger towards his family. He knows if he defies then his whole family can be killed, or worse.
The water bit is him washing himself. He had been working in the heat all day. He is unkempt and most likely stinks of hard labor. He is meeting with a distinguished, hostile Authority figure who he doesn't want to upset. Thus, he attempts to groom himself slightly.
I'm sure you could also read into a symbolic meaning. He's washing himself before shaking hands with Evil perhaps?
But the idea that he's washing himself to appear sweaty when he was already sweaty is... odd.
The even more obscure detail is in his meeting with Shoshanna. He orders cream for the strudel. Cream isn't Kosher in the jewish faith. He's testing her to see if she'll eat it, and when she doesn't, his suspicions are proven correct.
If Aldo and Hammarsmark weren't present at the theatre, she would've been killed then and there.
The things that Tarantino can do with dialogue and building tension is astonishing...
Truth! I could watch an entire movie of his that's just dialogue. He's that good!
The bar scene is phenomenal
@@generoberts9151 One of my all time faves....The fact he takes his time, sets up the scene, let's the camera roll on with long protracted casual dialogue that escalates to insane tension and then chaos, that takes guts, the scene is genius

The drum beat to introduce him too... chills.
And...He orders 2 strudel, which contains pork lard...its not kosher, same goes for eating meat and milk ( or in this case cream) at the same time, also not kosher...so yeah, he knew exactly who she was and was testing her.

yes it is arguably the best of tarantinos films and inarguably has one of the best opening scenes ever put to film. Also Christoph Waltz is AMAZING in the film

Tarantino wrote such a complex character in Hans Landa (had to speak German, French, Italian and English) that they couldn't cast anyone.
They thought they had to rewrite the character....and then on the last day, their savior, Christoph Waltz walked in.
And then they gave him a well deserved Oscar.

Shoshanna knew she would not survive - hence dressing in the martyr's colour of red. She was prepared to die for her revenge. Great reaction again guys!
"django" is tarantino´s fictive story about cleaning house from slavery, "basterds" is tarantino´s fictive story about cleaning house from nazis, "once upon" is tarantino´s fictive story about cleaning house from cultists, and in "pulp" he cleans house from torturers. he makes crystalclear what he despises.
"They just want to see you cry." says the one who saw Coco with his mom and sister and was the only one crying. 😂
Come at me 😂
Tarantino was in Django. He was the LeQuint Dickey Mining Co. Employee #1. He was speaking with an Australian accent and YES...he was in this film with two cameos. One as a soldier during the film Nation's Pride, where Tarantino's character can be heard saying “Colonel, I implore you!”, and the other as an SS officer getting scalped the crew right before the introduction of Donny ‘The Bear Jew’ Donowitz.
@@Angivel She didn't pass out. The story goes that Tarantino wanted Waltz to choke her out, but he always acted it. To get a more authentic shot, Tarantino *actually* choked her out.
"Ah, Landa!" = one of the best "Oh, shit!" moments in film history.
Landa is probably the most terrifying person. Toys with his prey, acts foolishly yet totally planned. Everything about him sends chills down my spine for Shoshana..
Brad Pitt's Knoxville accent is spot on. My grandfather always said "natzi". Tarantino always puts a reference to a Tennessee city in all of his films
Didn't know that's about Tennessee, I live outside of the U.S. and I always thought that just very strong American accent, almost a caricature of how we, the foreigners, except American to sound.
@@IcyTorment It's definitely a more 'northern' end of the Southern accents, Kentucky/Tennessee/Virginia style, and I'm from Northern Vermont so I got that old timey Yankee accent going for me haha
In India, it is "Naa-zee".
Sorry man, I live right here with Knoxville as my backyard and that is one of the WORST "southern" accents I've heard and I know for a fact Brad can do better. He's hamming it up and playing as a larger than life, over the top character. So no, its not spot on. I've never heard one person who wasn't joking around here say, "Nat zee" or even "Nazee". Not outside of joking and def. not when being serious.
@@BaronNate same man, I'm here in Nashville and I think most actors have a hard time doing a southern accent. There is a certain “twang” to it that most people can't get down unless you spend time around here

I love that ending. It's sort of a 4th wall break when Aldo says "this just might be my masterpiece", it's almost like Tarantino saying that about this film himself. It's a great freaking film and my girlfriend had great reactions as well. Especially that bar shootout omg.
Two performances often overlooked among the more obvious ones are those of Sylvester Groth as Goebbels and Martin Wuttke as Hitler. Both quite cartoony but I absolutely love them both in this movie.
Hitler in his "little boy cape" is low key hilarious.
Christoph Waltz’s performance was once again amazing. Really set the tone in the opening scene. Love you guys! Keep it up!
best part of this video was your guys' reaction when Christoph Walz appeared at the fancy restaurant scene behind Shoshana, that was PRICELESS. That screenshot should have been the thumbnail lol

Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Death Proof and The Hateful Eight are the other Quentin Tarantino films; he has also written for and appeared in plenty of other films, notably directed by Robert Rodriguez; Christoph Waltz won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in this and Django Unchained, and is actually fluent in German, English, French and Italian
Bet they'd love True Romance.
The Hateful Eight should be next. Greatest dialogue ever.
Don’t forget Once Upon A Time in Hollywood
@@ALIENjoy That's a bore
Kill Bill also
This is one is up there as my favorite of Tarantino. The way it grips you from the first second to the last, its amazing. The opening scene in the farm is just by itself a masterpice. Its so tense while telling you everything you need to know, without telling you directly, they're just talking. So brilliant. Another favorite of mine is the whole thing at the bar. And as per usual the finale is just titts up :) I love this movie.
Edit: Hans in the beginning was studying the girls, he felt her pulse and he was looking to study testing to see if they were nervous. He's a hunter for a reason.
Hannah says '' THIS GUYS ON A POWERTRIP '' scene immediately cuts to you know who slamming hands on the desk. SYMBOLISM
I'm jealous of you guys getting to witness this masterpiece for the first time. Absolute mind blower... more Tarantino! Pulp fiction surely has to be next.
Tarantino had been developing this story for a long time, since before Kill Bill. And when he decided to make a movie out of it, he almost was forced to stop becaause after seeing hundreds of actors he couldn't find a Landa. And then he met Christoph Waltz; the rest is history, as they say.
"Blood pressure: GONE!" That one killed me! 🤣
"Go in zigzag"
"That'll ruin the shot"

Here´s why they´re looking at the fingers when Fassbender orders 3 glasses: over here, we DO NOT order 3 with index-, middle- and ringfinger, but with thumb, index- and middlefinger. You immediately know if somebody is from somewhere else.

For real. That's has to be one of the funniest comments I have watched in a reaction video.
This has to be one of my top 3 movies of all time. Dude the cinematography and the acting of christoph waltz alone is enough to win this movie every award possible. My jaw dropped so many times just in awe of how good some of these scenes are. It’s almost like the most well thought out parts of a play all happened in succession and formed one of the most dramatic and tension building films of all time. That’s how you know this shit is good, is when mid film you’re constantly saying “look at how beautiful” or “look at this shot”. Few people can do it better than Tarantino
My 3 favorite Tarantino movies are this, Django, and The Hateful Eight. I highly recommend that last one because it’s fucking crazy
15:51 Hannah caught the intended thematic irony immediately 😂
I've been in the Army 15 years, and I will never forget I had a Sergeant Major who had been lynched when he was a young boy, and he had a hanging scar like Brad Pitt's character. He was without a doubt the kindest and most charismatic person I have ever met, but don't think for a second that he couldn't end your life in a single swift motion. The man was a legend.
Fun fact when they were drinking at the bar it gave it away by the way he put 3 fingers up Europe is more common to put 3 using the thumb he didn't use the thumb so it gave his position away 33:33

Makes me happy for you. Been subscribed to the channel for a long time now, way back from the Mortal Kombat trailer reaction. You deserve your success. Your enthusiasm is fantastic and I appreciate how you say what comes to your mind at the moment and it's usually unfiltered. That's very refreshing with how everybody, everywhere in the world appears like they are walking on egg shells all the time about what they can say. Your commentary is very refreshing to someone who grew up in the 80s when people didn't get "participation" trophies for just showing up, and that was ok because we learned that dealing with failure and disappointment builds character. You constantly make me laugh and I've spit out whiskey several times because of some of the shit you say! Just fantastic! @@justtrustash I appreciate your work because I know it has to be difficult. What you do is important because I'm willing to bet many would rather watch this type of entertainment then stuff on television with 15 commercials per hour. 22:04 - "Wow, what a lovely face" "mm hmmm" (but deep inside, "you're damn right!")
Reservoir Dogs...his best film. Very first film, shot for 5 million bucks. Mr. White, actor Harvey Keitel, had so much faith in the movie, he fronted Tarantino the money for it. But the first-loosely based, non directed- Tarantino movie, is true romance. About his fantasy life, as a one time video store clerk. Which he was in real life, in the 80s. Gary Oldmam should have won an Oscar, for his performance as a black drug dealer.

A little something about war, the unfortunate reality is that sometimes excessive brutality actually saves lives. Scaring the enemy into thinking they are up against men who don't care about the well-being of the enemy is sadistic on the surface, but can dissuade the enemy from fighting, and removes them as a threat. Killing an entire platoon of soldiers may prevent their whole battalion from fighting. As awful as it sounds, it's actually quite effective, as we've seen in Afghanistan.
Thank to you guys I figured it out. Landa knew it was Shoshana but he couldn’t kill her because she was the owner of the movie theatre, according to him, “his way out” He made her remember she was alive because he wanted to. Well, that’s my theory.
Cheers!
I love all of QT’s films, but kill bill 1&2 are his absolute magnum opus. The collective masterpiece among his masterpieces. Epic doesn’t even begin to do the “one in two films” justice. It’s brilliance. Pure brilliance.
33:34 This is not how Germans show number 3 using fingers. SS Major identifies immediately the captain is not German.

Pulp fiction next…PLEASE!!! This is my favorite all-time movie, it really is his masterpiece and Tarintino himself felt that way about it at the time. And I agree at the end, the dentist had to die in Django for the happy ending and in this Shoshanna had to die for the happy ending, hints Revenge of the Giant Face. Once she died her spirit still lived through the smoke as her theater burned to the ground and she got what she wanted (as did we). Masterful film.
Pulp Fiction is a must watch! Masterful in its own way, different to this and Django as it’s not a timepiece but still an incredible film. You’ll be in for a ride!
ALSO: Tarintino was in this as the first dummy we see getting scalped at the beginning. He didn’t make an actual appearance in this movie.
“Go in zig zags!”
“No if she goes in zig zags it’s gonna ruin the shot isn’t it.”
The two schools of film criticism.
I always thought that there should have been an alternate ending where Hans is living in America on the 50’s or whenever and Shoshanas BF finds him there they speak French to each other because Hans speaks French and then her BF kills him like “this is for Shoshana.”

@29:49 do remember that this was supposed to be from the 1940s during the war so English accents and American accents were different back then but we can't make any excuses for Mike Myers' character and his attempt at a British accent 😆 lol. But some have also argued that this was just Tarantino having fun and being funny with the scene who knows though.
This is the funniest reaction to this opening scene 🤣
29:30 Hope you recognized Mike Myers
37:18 Ah, the continental divide.
As usual, another fantastic reaction! And, yes, this has got to be one of Tarantino's best ones. The opening sequence with Hans Landa and the French farmer alone is a master class in visual storytelling. :-D
As an American, can I say how refreshing it was to see how you were the ONLY channel to react to 34:40 and I attribute it to y’all being the only British channel to react that I’ve seen so far;
“Well if this is it old boy I hope you don’t mind if I go out speaking The King’s”
American reactors don’t realize he means speaking the King’s English instead of German. Most ppl don’t even realize he switched back to speaking English.
Michael Fassbender as David in “Prometheus” maybe my favourite of his roles! 🤔
Awesome reaction
The editing was PERFECT. Talking about Brad Pitts character being "on a power trip this guy here is" and the sentence finished on Hitler slamming his hand on the table having a tantrum.
Nobody outside Satan himself has been on a bigger power trip than people like Hitler, Stalin, and Mao were.
Finally someone appreciated it haha..thank you for watching mate ❤️
Tarantino was in the film. When the German actress was getting choked out there is a shot where you can just see Hans Landas hands. These are actually Tarantinos hands.
Highly, highly entertaining reaction! Loved it. You rock, Ash!
ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD
Hilarious! Lol😆. One of the few channels that make me "LOL" It's symbolic...👌
Appreciate you Josh! Thank you so much ❤️
I don't know if Hannah even realized that her mouth and jaw were moving uncontrollably from 42:35 to 42:45. Now that is an authentic reaction!
the basement scene is so incredible. the guy who played col. Hellstrom is so damn good
He switches to English so the Jewish family under the floor won’t understand them and run when they realize the Nazi knows where they are.
Oh no, Tarantino was in the movie. He was the first nazi in the movie to get scalped.
