This film could easily be a live action play. One intro scene, then 3 hours in the same place. I love it. No car chases, no heists, just tension between humans in the same room. Everyone is lying, and everyone knows it.
He had the original version performed live before he decided to make it into a movie.

@@maxducoudray I heard that. I also heard that, because the script leaked before production started, he was going to leave it at that live performance and not make the movie, but the reaction to the live performance convinced him to make the movie.
@@MonkeeKnucklez2 I heard about that as well. I believe he did a rewrite after he made that decision, that switched up the story a little so it didn’t match the leaked script.
The looks Hannah gives Ash when he tries to come up with the most outlandish symbolisms is what I live for. Just priceless reactions that Ash doesn't even notices until editing

Fun fact: Her reaction when Kurt Russel shatters that guitar was genuine. The plan was to switch this over 100 year old Martin guitar, that a museum lended them before he smashes it. Well, something went wrong and Russel shattered that original piece of history 🤣

He’s also in Sons of Anarchy as a trans-woman… he’s definitely a talented dude!
Walton was only average, in The Next Karate Kid. He didn't start getting his footing until House of a Thousand Corpses. By then, you could really see his confidence as an actor.
Bro literally everything I've seen him in his acting is amazing. I just watched ant man and the wasp and even in that limited role he was amazing

When this movie came out I love the fact it was as Ash said, a movie about two people who were against each other before and should have every reason to hate each other, coming together to destroy a true irredeemable evil.

Walton Goggins, who plays the Sheriff in this movie, plays the single best TV villain of all time in a show called Justified. It is a western type show set in modern times. I cannot recommend it enough.

Sorry, Brian, Boyd Crowder is impressive, but the best TV villain of all time is, Al Swearengen, from the HBO show, Deadwood. I've got all the seasons from both shows, and Boyd ain't got nothing on Al.

That guitar was a genuine artifact from a museum. Daisy’s reaction to John breaking it was real. He was supposed to wait and break a fake guitar, but he broke the real one.
This is, to me, the best Tarantino movie. The tension, the theatrics, the mystery, the unlikely relationship of Chris and Warren, everything is perfect and the setting is flawless

Nope, that's not a recurring thing. It only happened in Pulp Fiction. And the purpose of having that line was to establish his close relationship to Jules. It implies that he was Soo comfortable with him, probably grew up together. Like Tarantino did in real life, he grew up in a predominantly black neighborhood and loves black culture. And in the movie Jimmy was married to a black woman! He wasn't being racist. You can't be Soo sensitive. You have to read between the lines. SYMBOLISM

One of the many reasons I love this film is that it, much like Reservoir Dogs, could be done as a stage play fairly easily. It's all about the dialogue, and the dialogue is brilliant.
This film was actually meant to be a Django Sequel, called "Django in White Hell," when Tarantino first started writing the script. But later on, he realized that he needed the protagonist of this film to be morally ambiguous, as if he used Django, we'd all instantly know he was the hero. So he came up with Major Marquis Warren.

Hannah seems like a very visual, attention to detail person. People like that can often really visualize graphic descriptions so it makes sense she'd have a reaction when Ash describes the blood and tongue and everything. It's a good, creative quality to have but it's hard to visually see verbal descriptions.
Tarantino never misses. He hasn't made a bad movie. Sure, some weren't as popular as others, but that doesn't take away from their artistic value and entertaining story and dialogue just because someone didn't understand it. Every one of his films are awesome in their own right.

Ya they had these matches around when I was a kid in the 70s. I accidently started the couch on fire in a wood farm house. Luckily, my parents arrived before the couch caught the house on fire. I was trying to put it out with a fork at 5 yr old. LOL
My favorite symbolism was in the beginning with the shot of the two horses. 1 black, 1 white that foreshadowed Mannix & Warren's puting their differences aside and working together.
It's funny how you speculated that Samuel L. Jackson's character may be Django in his latter years. When Tarantino wrote the screenplay, it started that way, but he opted to make this a stand-alone story, rather than the continuing saga of Django .

Best Cinematography, Robert Richardson.
It won Best Original Score for Ennio Morricone as he was 86 years old, making him the oldest Oscar winner at the time. He passed away in 2020.
Morricone hated working with Quentin Tarantino as was facing major deadlines to finish the score.
But they had a great working relationship, and remained friends.
Most of the music is from John Carpenter's THE THING.
Only 3 tracks are from The Thing
the ending was such a bitter sweet moment, barely lit up when Mannix crumpled up and tossed the letter away.

Fun Fact: writer and director Quentin Tarantino said that some of Ennio Morricone's compositions for the film are the unused scores for "The Thing" (1982). Kurt Russell was the star in that film.
Also, this is one of the best Quentin Tarantino films. The performances, the dialogue, the directing, the cinematography, the music, just brilliant, you get your typical Quentin Tarantino craziness in it too, but its not the focal point, amazing piece of work.

@@justtrustash As much as I like the hateful 8 Django and Inglorious basterds, they all have certain climatic moments, that go over the top and don't match the otherwise, perfect tone, pacing and writing of the films. Tarantino has this problem. Pulp fiction, Reservoir Dogs and Jackie Brown are widely and universally considered his greatest films, but I get why you would prefer Django or Basterds or Hateful 8, because of the action and gore. For me I'm less interested in that over the supreme writing and storytelling of Tarantino's earlier films.

I just love the sound quality in this movie. Everything sounds amazingly real, the fire, the spurs, the wooden furniture, the leather boots and belts, etc. it’s like you’re actually in the room.
The Revenant was an amazing movie. The real story was much worse than the movie which is rare for Hollywood. 😂

Guys, it’s an older film, but please please watch signs if you haven’t seen it. It’s by M Night Shamylan & is superbly eerie.
One of my fav Tarantino films. 90% takes place in ONE location, and it's all about the characters and the script. The cast were excellent, but for me, Jennifer Jason Leigh as Daisy was my favourite. Such a memorable character. Her expressions, the beatings she took, great physical performance imo. Great film in all.
