I have one, wahoo kickr
@@daraclarke1328 Nice, what apps do you use with it?
@@gmbn I never really use it to be honest I prefer to be outside
@@daraclarke1328 We've noticed a lot more people using trainers over the last year due to lockdown restrictions in many countries. It's good the tech is good enough that the interactive element can make it fun! Yea we prefer riding outside, but that's not always possible for many people.
Mine just got here today. Sadly it is way too loud with my mountain tires so it needs to go back.
I got a cheap basic magnetic trainer
About 20 minutes in as I started to kind of sprint, I heard a crack so I stopped.
Turns out the magnets blow out into the wall, the premium tyre melted, smoke came out from inside the trainer, the fire alarm turned on and my wall also had pieces of rubber which flew everywhere.
Needless to say I since gear up and ride outside. My tyre never melted there.
Coming from a 62kg guy
You guys make the best videos, very professional and informative. I had no clue about turbo trainers, watched your video, and now I know the important bits. Thanks!
Iv had my wahoo kickr for a couple of weeks and Iv got to say, itâs an absolute game changer. Of course Iâd rather be outdoors but with a typical British winter and work itâs an absolute winner. Going to be hitting the race season with ready legs.
Hey guys keep up the great videos!!đ
Thanks Jacob! đ
Very timely vid, just yesterday I bought a magnetic trainer for less than $20 to set up with my old 26" bike semi permanently.
Wow - so expensive!
I think Iâll just invest in more winter gear instead âïž
I just pulled the trigger on a smart trainer, (tacx neo 2t) itâs an amazing bit of kit, expensive, but Iâm amazed by how much better it is than my old non smart fluid trainer that I just didnât like using. It synced up to my phone, laptop - connected to tv, heart rate monitor, cadence sensors, has in built power meter etc, simulates the terrain, even downhills by âproviding driveâ; itâs also much quieter. Linked to an app, only tried zwiftâs free trial so far, where you can compete online, Iâm very impressed much more interesting than being bored on the old one. Man maths came together with some logic that initially this will help me return from injury, and then Iâll use to increase fitness when time is at a premium (parenting, commuting and all the other grown up stuff that tryâs to get in the way); it folds for easy storage bu t i think it will be permanently set up in the bike shed.
Only managed to get a wahoo kickr ordered on monday after trying for months to get one in stock, should get it in the next few days. This had come at the right time as i have never used one before and was thinking about going down the Zwift route. By the way, if you buy it direct from Wahoo, it is shipped from Holland and mine was held up at customs for 2 days.
My fluid turbo trainer setup cost me ÂŁ192 and to be fair it's been pretty good considering. It's made a huge difference when I've not been able to go out with lockdown in place and looking after my kids. My ÂŁ192 setup consists of the trainer, a turbo tyre and inner tube and a fan!
At the beginning of winter I thought I may need one since the cold outside sucked. Now I'm pretty used to it and it doesn't feel that cold. I'm in CA, I'm weak haha!
Hi there. Loving the videos the tips. MTB's on a turbo are very noisy! Is there any way of making it less noisy (short of wearing ear defenders!)?
You should try Rouvy it is like zwift with actual video footage of the ride
Is it OK to use full sus bikes on them ? Before the smart arses no I'm not worried about comfort!!đ with the rear triangle looked in place will the torsion through peddling out of the saddle cause an issue!! Gmbn still the top mtb channel by a long way !!!đđ
One thing I wanted to know is how the ride fee between the two. Is they much of a difference with direct drive to upgrade? I currently have the Kickr Snap and was wondering about upgrading to the Kickr. What do you think?
Wondering if, for such a price, wahoo already includes the axle for MTBs/disk brake bikes...
Can you do whips on these things?
I still want a smart trainer for my giant trance 2015 but in all honesty I haven't got a clue whether I need different thru-axle for them or anything + they are out of stock nearly everywhere for for tac x or other brands
Some wheel on trainers are also smart not only the direct drive..
Kickr snap shown in the vid is also smart. And not that cheap haha
How would you connect a Cannondale bad boy commuter bike with an Alfine hub to the direct drive trainer?
Why not test a road bike on the trails or a pump track?
Hey i'm in india which is the cheapest down hill mtb in india gmbn will suggest santa cruz and scott are not available in india
Get a clapped out old scooter or motorbike.
Hello i love your videos
đ thanks!!
Any recommendations for a trainer under 300?
Iâll yell at you to get in shape over YT for $299 đ
Wat about rollers? Those things in which you can still lean from left to right?
They are very convenient for running face first into your wall
@@sterby1 đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł are you serious,or just joking?
(I have zero experience)
@@sionvandevelde Unfortunately he is not, if you just stop pedalling you can be tossed forward. You have to slow down gradually.
Rollers are good, but you need to keep your concentration whilst riding on them or as Sterby jr says you can have an off. For turbo trainers you can get moving platforms and a connector for the front wheel which moves it up and down as gradients change if you want some side to side and up and down action and if you have money burning a hole in your pocket. Nothing can replicate getting out and riding though.
Very cheap way to get into indor training, but they do wear out your drivetrain. On a cheap 9sp I wouldn't care, but the new 12sp eagle cassette has a heafty pricetag. In my day I did use an older bike with slicks just for the trainer, but it blew up. The trainer, not the bike.
Waiting for the next episode... full bike trainers.
How would a direct drive trainer wear out your drive train more than riding outside? I'd think less, especially with ERG mode which abrogates shifting.
Just get out and ride, you'll be suggesting ebikes or roadbikes next :D :D No trainer can replicate 6" deep mud going up a 20% gradient
@Foxtrot Oscar I wasn't saying it suitable for everyone, but if you can, then you should be out on your bike. Nothing wrong with riding in snow either - some of my favourite rides have been in snow but we've not had a decent flurry for 4 or 5 years :(
I just use a hometrainer. My bike keeps in the forest only.
Hello big fan
If only there was a turbo trainer for the downhills
The MTB section in Zwift is pretty fun! Hopefully they will make some more sections for MTB
Just set it up on the stairs?
How about get a new bike for 1k
I think Rich needs a beginners guide for shaving neck beards
ÂŁ430 for the kickrsnap⊠might as well just buy an exercise bike for at home use đ
Research your customer service well.
Keep the turbo trainers for GCN. Get out and ride.
Easy to say when you don't work 6am to 9pm everyday and it's 35 degrees and raining all day... Tough to keep fitness up for weekend rides
@@andrewryan2576 I live in West Coast Norway. It's been one of the wettest autumns on record, in a place which is already impressively wet. It's light for a few hours a day. If you have a half hour spare it's still better spent outside than in!
what a load ignorant BS, you may thing that pushing up your HR on a steep climb is going to give you more endurance to ride longer but thatâs not case all. To your body Cycling is Cycling whether itâs GCN or GNBN
Not your usual in depth discussion
audio note : mic is distorting.
Just get out and ride, these are for roadies!!!
Did Rich just say 'boffin'? He must be old.
Imagine being hearted and comment highlighted by GMBN
