- We drop in on Jasmine Hemsley and Nick Hooper, who bought their 1970s house in Bromley via The Modern House in 2018, to see how a greater connection to nature and slower pace of life than they were used to in central London has had a positive impact on their wellbeing.

It's not my personal taste, but I always enjoy when people make their homes individualistic, and it looks warm and comfortable.
Looks beautiful
I was going to say the exact same thing. It's not me but they seem very happy there and I enjoyed listening to them talk about their home. And I love that they were intentional about reclaimed pieces.
Love the building and architectural design. I like the furniture, but if it was my space I'd reduce it all by about 70% haha the owner said she enjoyed filling the space though so each to their own, I love how colorful it is against the wood
1:49 The fish you can see on the wall was drawn by my friends dad when he was at school circa 1965. They lived in Bromley and gave the fish picture to a charity shop when they were selling their house. Funny where these things turn up!
That's awesome!!!
You need to tell them they would love that😊
I'm a big fan of these almost 'set designed' theatrical homes, where the atmosphere makes you feel as if you've travelled back through time and then sideways into another fantastic alternate reality. Unconventional layouts are also HUGELY ignored as a tool for creating magical atmosphere, I love to find homes that discombobulate me when I enter. Such fun! And lighting too--so powerful and overlooked massively when it comes to creating atmosphere. It's my new 'thing', searching for homes that don't have conventional layouts and which are big on other-worldly drama and atmosphere. They made a house that looks like a 1970's Australian caravan park toilet block look fabulous.
I want to create my future home 80s/90s style ... I really love the 80s 90s classics like Home Alone, Everybody loves Raymond, Alf, Full House... and even newer series like Malcolm in the Middle.. i want a house like that..from 80s 90s period family looking classic American house.. and if i have a huge basement //hopefully... I want to make it completely 50s 60s 70s style... something combined from all the eras.. classy bar/lounge area, groovy funky looking wallpapers or carpet... vintage radio, tv, rotary phone etc... pool table, fish tank and a mini bar for when guests come over... And if i have an attic it could be made into a huge playroom for the kids.. with a black chalk board wall, rope swing, gymboree gym obstacles and ball pit...
If i have a gir when she becomes a teenager hopefully she'll be into the 80s like me and allow me to make her room typical 80s girl room (can't name movies now but u get what i mean) xD
And of course the garage must have those iconic red tool cabinets on wheels... xD
Maybe also a 60s style backyard pool with white & yellow striped umbrellas and sunbathing chairs... BBQ where we'll be making classic American bbq lunches and 60s pineapple burgers... xD little swing set and sand box as well... Dog house... and a tree ford for the kids... just like 'Dennis the Menace' and the kids from 'Stand by Me'' and countless other ones...
I think if a child should dream of a perfect childhood ...this is it! A home like all the classic childhood movies that every kid loves or loved ... {since most kids nowadays are raised with paw patrol, peppa pig and teen titans..... )
@@KRPepi WOW! What a terrific comment, I love it! xoxo
I love that term set designed. Lately I’ve been seeing style straight from film pop up in houses
@@orpflo4845 The Woody Allen film with Owen Wilson where he goes back in time and winds up in Gertrude Stein's literary salon: her home's atmosphere in that dud of a film though= 🔥💯💯😍
“Give me five minutes, and I would fill it. “ Yep.
Yaaassss
She legit spoke to my soul when she said that 👏👏👏👏
damn bruh
This is a house I could live in. Colors, textures, patterns, modern yet retro, loads of light and indoor/outdoor feel.
I love this home and the kitchen looks perfect, not too tiny! It has a modern 70s vibe: not stuck in the 70s but a 2020 version inspired by vintage 70s. Cozy.
I’m in love with this house. I think I’m beginning to understand the style/s that I really like 😍
I definitely wouldnt expect the inside with how the outside looks. So cool.
Nice, love it, beautiful home, love the 70s aesthetic
I've watched this episode about 57 times.
I love a home filled with character. It shows the love and care that went into making the home personally theirs. Plus I love a well done 70’s vibe. Those shag carpets were to die for.😍
I love this house soooooo much. ❤ all things believe. Colors, repurposing and dogs 🥰
My first thought “walking in” was a deep breath of sweet warm air, taste, color, eye pulls and gazes of corners. What a little lie of an entrance!! Such a beautiful house
Wonderful! Those houses filled with color and personality make my heart sing.
Love it in every way.
You caputured the most underestimated era in history . The moment of change and ideals have never been so ubundant as in this short era. Respect for the level of detail to which you have gone. Rather unique i would say and it displays a strong vision 👍
I love your house. That is the kind of house I also would like to live in. I adore it. I also love the clear lines of the 60ties and 70ties.
I don't do modern but this is warm, cosy and incredibly inviting
Literally exactly the kind of house I would like to live in, beautiful 🤩
I don't understand why CZcams has 30 minutes long video about a minimalist house while this masterpiece only has less than 3 minutes. It should have been at least 1,5 hour long documentary! Anyway I'm surprised you have that Indonesian clay tiger, even locals rarely have them 😂
I love that it’s just the two of them. My boo and created a lovely home with just the two of us also.
This is gorgeous.
Wow. Should have been longer than two minutes.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE 1970s architecture ❤️
It’s always a wild ride when I watch videos that demonstrate a persons vision of what they believed a decade was like.
I was alive and kicking in the 70s and I can say, “YOU TWO NAILED IT!“
Granted your “70s” home has more appeal than the average home owner of the time, but based on hot interior styles back then, you guys know what looks the part and how to pair it with other things!! BRAVO!! 🎉❤❤
A childhood memory of 1970s minimalist design.
I absolutely love the interior of this house, dream house!!
A proper home full of everyday comforts love it
Lovely video. We coveted this house when it was on the market. Congrats to Jasmine and Nick on their marvelous home.
How much was it?

Joseph Hayden £1.1m?!
Everything is great about this...I really feel them and their vibe!!
So much color, character & charm
Sure beats the boring bland beige, greys and whites that you find in so many homes today
I'm kinda done (but not really) with jungle, boho rooms but also I've been watching so many rooms like this on pinterest, korean youtuber named "kinda cool" also has this amazing concept with her office, japanese youtuber named “hikari mori" until now idk what kind of concept it is. The room always has these cool and unique shapes, vases, candles, coloured glasses, colorful and unique patterns, minimalistic plants also colorful flowers, maybe some crystals, they just have that modern, colorful, funky, zen/peaceful vibes
Absolutely love the colour burst & the whole vibe - very inspirational. Well done You two :)
Can you afford it ?
Gorgeous place. Warm, full of light and life and totally unpretentious. Love it.
I love everything about this house!!!
So genuinely and homely, love it
This is absolute happiness, I love it!
I wouldn't mind being quarantined in this lovely home! I hope to have a home that reflects me and my spirit someday!
I adore this house. How beautiful.
I like what they've done with the place warm and inviting and fun.
I love this ♡ I love the brick and white walls mixed with the cedar, colorful patterns, tiles, greenery, colorful rugs breaking up the open concept into "rooms" and large windows ♡ that is exactly my style, with variations on themes, like a white bedroom with only greenery and wood, maybe a color saturated Mexican blanket on the end of the bed ♡
Beautiful home. Their kitchen is awsome.😀🎉🎊
I love evrerything about this house. 😍💐🌹
We've tried to do the same thing with our house built in 1971. It's a lot of fun!
Its so beautifull colourfull and peacefull weldone both of you.Gwen From S.A.
I love this home, charming personality and the bright colors inspire me
Lovely home, very unique and fun!
So beautiful.
Breathtaking!
Nice house. There's quite a few left of these where i live in Belgium. I started living 70s style back in '97. It's so much fun and quite an experience to live like that. It has warm colors, lots of cool wall decoration, wall paper ... as opposed to many sterile, white-ish looking interiors of today. Those existed back in the 70s but i don't like that. Enjoy your house !!! Cool interior. If you want to keep the vintage effect as real as possible i advise you to buy the authentic stuff.
The retro eclectic boho vibes are so cool!
Stunning!
The orange details are really complementing the wooden living room. I really liked fabrics for the sofa and cushions as well. Beautiful home.
I love it 🥰 I fell for the colours
Love the patterns
I grew up with a rug just like that! (the round "orange sun" one)
Beautiful, warm, full of life and things! I so love this over the sparse, white showrooms that people have as their homes.
What a beautiful home ❤️
omg ...i LOVE that house xx
The combination of colors in the living room is just great, it's very very warm 👌

absolutely love it. This guy has the same voice as Blake in the documentary Amy
Absolutely beautiful ☘️☘️greetings from waterford
Lovely!
Love it!! Well done guys. 👍🏻
Absolutely love this home! Every piece of furniture has probably some sort of story behind it. I'm so jealous of the wooden ceiling and brick walls *-*
A bit much but I like the couple and the overall sensibility they have in life.
Love it!
GORGEOUS
J'adore !!!!
Amazing!
Amazing
Omg amazing home i love
Absolutely love this.......... actually looks a bit like my place!

How refreshingly different
Obsessed
Love it
gorgeous
I love it.
Bromley is a lovely place to live.my home backs on farm land and field's in bromley.
Same here. Hayes Farm fields to the rear of my garden
Really cool
If you painted the bricks on the outside and added a few architectural details it would bring it to another level. The inside is already lovely.
very cool.
Thanks
I LOVE IT
Very nice. 🌺
Dreamy for kitsch loving folks. Good for them.
B E A U T I F U L !!!
A lot of personality in this home for sure. It isn't for me but I do love that the owners put their personal touch on it. I like the exterior better than the interior.
Me too. The exterior is so neat, love it! As for the interior, I am a minimalist and they're so boho.
I want to keep my apartment simple too but I can’t help adding cool pieces I see around.
Beautiful house lovely stay connected #titanora
it’s beautiful! i hate our rental😂
Muy colorida y alegre
Where do you get that gorgeous orange and red starburst rug?
I love. It. I live. In shortlands, what road is this house in my husband and are are house hunting as we flat share at Present and it's really not Working.
I am absolutely in love with it. Jasmine... Congratulations; what a great love and taste. I love everything. Mind you... I am a whole white, minimalist kind of person; let's say... You'd fill it in and I wouldn't mind. 😂♥️
