    Good video idea.
Vital is my favorite designer and I also love Kanban and Weather Machine. Lisboa is also excellent, you should give it another shot.

      We should, shouldn't we?
Have you backed Inventions? Where do you think this will land in your rankings?

@@boardgamecourt I passed on Inventions as I don't think the game will land for me after watching a playthrough. I only own Lisboa, WM, Kanban EV. I'm waiting for the new game in development (Speakeasy) as that theme really appeals to me. Then, I think 4 Lacerdas will be enough for me. 😅

Your favorites are the ones I was lead developer I’m proud my name is on those boxes. They are my favorites too. Lisboa is very good too.

Yes! A very good overview of Lacerda's games! I thoroughly enjoyed watching your discussion.
So far, I have all the games by this designer except for Escape Plan. Unfortunately, I don't have too many opportunities to play such complex games. I mostly play with my wife, who isn't as passionate a gamer as I am (which is why I also play solo a lot). However, I managed to convince her to play On Mars and Kanban EV. So, for now, I've only played those two. And that's where my collection of Lacerda's games started. I really enjoy both of them, but I bring out Kanban EV more often because it has a much better solo mode than On Mars. My current plan is to slowly introduce my wife to The Gallerist or Vinhos, but it will be a gradual process since I have to find the right moment (my wife isn't very keen on learning new games).
Thank you very much for the video, and for creating a list of game designers for rankings, I can suggest Alexander Pfister and Stefan Feld.
    Take care!

Thank you for your comment, Radek. Gallerist is definitely a smoother and easier game to learn compared to On Mars which is most likely his most complex design. So, we would suggest this one next for you and the wife; potentially then Vinhos.
Both excellent suggestions, it is more likely that we do an episode for Pfister before Feld as we have played more games designed by the former.

Good discussion. I am keen to hear more of this series. Coincidentally, we played kanban last Sunday, and really enjoyed it. I only played weather machine once and was enjoyable. I watched the playthroughs by Before you Play, and I'm most keen to play the Gallerist and Vinhos.

Gallerist is good, we should organize a play soon.

You have to give Lisboa another chance. You mentioned how it was overly complex and had many things that seemed meaningless to the theme - couldn’t be further from the truth as every action and detail of the game has a direct connection to the historical facts behind the rebuilding of the city and that makes it one of the most thematic games around. I taught my 74 yr old mother the game in a couple of hours and she was breezing through it shortly after…

Thank you for your comment and for watching our video. We have played Lisboa twice, and didn't click with us. There might be a great game there, but we haven't seen it so far. Most likely, you have felt the same way for other games that everyone is praising but didn't work for you. Fortunately, the hobby has to offer so much variety that there is a game for everyone. Regarding theme, we believe that it also has to do with one's experiences. For instance, Fotios - being an academic - finds Weather Machine extremely thematic, while many others on BGG forums believe the opposite. We are glad that you enjoy Lisboa and we may give it another chance if the opportunity arises :-)

I think my ranking has to be
    1. On Mars
    2. Kanban EV
    3. Weather Machine
    4. Escape Plan
    5. The Gallerist
    6. Lisboa
    7. Vinhos 2010
    8. Bot Factory
    9. Mercado De Lisboa
Have not played c02. Hes my favorite designer!

What is that appeals you in On Mars more than Kanban? Very interested in this as we want to play On Mars again

@@boardgamecourt kanban to me shares similarities to his other games, which I love. I feel on mars does something special and every game can be very different than the one before. I played for the 9th or 10th time last night with players who played a few times before, and it was probably the best session yet. It feels sandboxy, opportunistic, and dynamic in ways superior to the other games. The tension with experienced players is incredible!

i am so into lacerda's games because of their complexity. i was curious if i should hunt for lisboa since we inly have it on second market and it costs fortunes. but you got me with kanban.. i think i will try to find it instead

    • @boardgamecourt
      @boardgamecourt  Před měsícem

Make sure you go for Kanban - one of the top-3 Lacerda games for both of us!

I have Weather Machine, The Gallerist and Co2 and would rank them in that order. Did you know Co2 has an official semi-coop variant?
Also, the artwork in The Gallerist (in fact the whole game) has been said by some to be a bit of a joke on the commercialism of art and that the quality of the artwork is *meant* to be inconsequential. It's really all about influence and money.
(nearly) Lastly, Lativ's full name is Seni Lativ. Vital has a daughter named Ines!
Actually lastly, I'd love to see a "Let's talk about... Uwe Rosenberg" as he is my favourite designer. But maybe Stefan Feld or Bruno Cathala?
I'm very much enjoying your content. Thanks!

Thank you so much, it is fantastic to read that people are enjoying our content!
We were not aware of Seni/Ines, thank you for sharing! Yes, we can see what you say about Gallerist, possibly why we like it so much: it is all about influence and money! hahaha
We definitely have Uwe on our list! Feld is also likely to appear! We need to play more of Bruno's games.

I finally found people for playing heavy games, and played On Mars a second time. It gets better the more you know it and play it.
Do you like original Kanban more than EV?

    • @boardgamecourt
      @boardgamecourt  Před rokem +1

We want to play On Mars again soon!
We are used to the art of original Kanban better! As far we understand, the games are like 99% the same.
