How would you rank your favorites?
first off thank you guys for doing this!
I'm new to lacerda and have only played 3 so far but my rankings are
1. escape plan
2. the gallerist
3. lisboa
so the opposite of you guys, I just love the theming of escape plan so much
Really good job for all the videos.
My rank is:
1. On mars
2. Kanban
3. Vinhos
4. CO2
5. The gallerist
6. Lisboa
7.escape plan
8 Dragon Keeper
I haven't played them all yet but my number one I feel will always be The Gallerist. I love the theme so much and how seamless every decision you make flows in that game. The rest would be:
2: On Mars
3: CO2 Second Chance
4: Kanban
5: Vinhos
6: Escape Plan
I'll be curious to see how Lisboa fits into my list when I finally get a chance to play it since you two have ranked it as your number ones.
With the caveat that I have not played On Mars, I would rank them as:
1. Kanban
2. Vinhos
3. Gallerist
4. CO²
5. Lisboa
6. Escape Plan
I need to play Lisboa again someday. As you know, the synapses of my brain had a short circuit when I tried to play it.
Haven't played Vinhos & Gallerist. from the ones i played
1. On Mars
2. Lisboa
3. CO2: Second Chance (competitive mode)
4. Kanban
5. Escape Plan
You guys did an amazing job with my games. The teaching was really well done, and the play really good. I understand perfectly how difficult and hard it is. I Imagine how many hours editing and filming took you to have this series done. Well done and thank you very much. You are awesome. Hope you had fun. See U on the next game. Thank you.
Thanks for your games! You are one of our favorite designers too (my wife and I). We are currently enjoying Vinhos and it is so amazing. You sir are a genius. Keep up the good work!
Vital Lacerda thank you. Lisboa is a wonderful game. On Mars? Very crunchy and need to play it more to get a better handle on the complexities. Great board and theme!
Thank you Vital! We still can't figure out how you can consistently put out such complex and amazing games. Can't wait to try the new one you have coming out!
Only have one of your games (so far) but CO2: Second Chance is setup on our dining table right now after having played it with my wife and son the last two nights (and lost). It really got us all involved in discussing what we needed to do each turn. I've played it 4 times solo, and haven't won at all yet! Trying to decide which of your other games my wife and son would enjoy so I can put it on my wishlist (I'm thinking Kanban EV might be the one). But thank you for making CO2: Second Chance!
@@odgregg Took me 6 tries of solo to win. But since i figured it out i've won 3 times in a row now with a high score of 32 points, 400 ppm and only one U.N card left. It just feels so good to try to solve the current puzzle in the game and i look forward to playing the semi co-op
P.S. I can’t rank my games. I always say the next one is my favorite. :)
And don’t forget about the expansion for On Mars that will have 2 chapters of the game in a co-op version. It will be called Surviving Mars.
Really looking forward to this...
When do you expect to release Surviving Mars? The anticipation is killing me!
I feel really bad asking this... but which of your games do you think is the best to play solo (apart from 'your next one' :-)
Big fan from China and plz ask egg to produce more copies of On Mars in Chinese! ! !
@@EricWoning From my experience, I think The Gallerist plays really well solo, trying to reach the ultimate level of success.
That's a quacking countdown - and thank you so much for this whole series of videos. I've only played On Mars so far, and only once at that - but find his design ethos fascinating and would love to play much more.
Thanks for the series! Your videos were super helpful when deciding which Lacerda to get, and very enjoyable to watch.
Glad we could help!
Great video! Thank you so much for doing these videos and sharing your passion for the games with us. Vital is one of our favorite designers as well (my wife and I). I particularly liked your Vinhos video and used it before we played that one. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for following along with us! Have you been able to play all of his games?
Great job on the series and I love this recap of the games and hearing your thoughts on them. You channel is the like the Lisboa of board game playthroughs! 😉❤
Great job throughout the entire series. Your hard work and passion comes through in each video and this was a great way to top it off!
Hi Robert! Thank you so much for your continued support and your kind words, you're a class act!
@@BeforeYouPlay Sorry for the late response... was busy QUACKing
You two are amazing! I was so afraid to play a Lacerda game until you started the series. My partner and I picked up Kanban as our first and it definitely had an impact. Thinking we may try CO2 next. Thanks for putting out these videos!
Thank you for your continued support Richard! We think you should try the Co-Op version first for CO2. The game is hard enough to compete with lol
@@BeforeYouPlay You will always have my support! And we will DEFINITELY be doing Co-Op first if it's easier. lol
Surviving the Lacerda marathon is a credit to you both. Brilliantly presented and taught. Look forward to an Uwe Rosenberg or Daniel Tascini series
Uwe Rosenberg is definitely on our radar. Who is your favorite designer?
You are my favorite 2 player board gamers. You are like Donald and his Quack. Subscribed!
Thanks for this guys! Loved the series so much! 😊
Thanks for watching!
You taught me first Lacerda game (Kanban) so getting your perspective on the whole library is amazing! Thank you!
Thom!!!! We wish we could play with you at our local Con again! Looks like they just cancelled September officially :(
thanks a lot for this series! i really enjoyed it, and was eagerly awaiting the on mars play through. lisboa was my first lacerda, and would be #1 for me as well. so, so elegant, both in appearance and game design...
Thanks for being patient with us! Lisboa is a masterpiece, now we patiently await the expansion!
Had a first time session for On Mars yesterday, 4p game and I was on doing the teach. 1st half of the game, my group hated it. Then, it clicked in the 2nd and everything just flowed. Now they're clamoring for a second play. What an experience! Looking forward to getting Gallerist and Kanban EV
I just wanted to stop by and thank you two for the amazing work you're doing. Really loved this series and was impressed by the teach, the playthrough and the fun you both are having. Really great to watch. You might have hurt my wallet though. On Mars and Kanban EV are on my shelf now and The Gallerist is on it's way. The buying order for the other ones is planned allready. ;)
Love his games since playing the first one (On Mars), though I tend to lose horribly to my wife :D
Keep up the good work! Really enjoying what you two are doing!
I really enjoyed this video. I have been wanting to play some Lacerda games for the longest time and this has helped me to figure out which ones to try first if/when I get the chance. Thanks guys!
thank you two for doing all of these. i live in OC, a lacerda fan, and have lived with two weinerdogs for over half of my life.
my rankings:
7 - CO2 - just has not hooked me
6 - escape plan, for the same reasons as you. this may be my #1 if attending an event, though. because it is a bit more simple, and people like to laugh.
5 - vinhos
4 - the gallerist - this was my #1 until fairly recently
3 - kanban - with the new EV version, this should solidify it just ahead of the gallerist now. got that, ian? YOU did that.
2 - lisboa - it was #1 until on mars showed up. like you, it is really close between lisboa and on mars. i give the edge to on mars on the better iconography.
1 - on mars - probably 25 plays in, and i still get humbled, badly, at least half the time. i will have a great game, think about what i did to have achieved it, and then fail horribly at trying to recreate the magic the next time. i now just try to be as opportunistic as possible. nothing is off the table. that is the mark of a great game. many, many avenues to success.
give your pup a belly rub for me.
Wow 25 plays! On Mars we always go in with a plan, but the game state changes and they interaction with your opponents really enhance the experience.
Dexter appreciates the sponsored belly rub! Weenie Dogs are the best! haha
@@BeforeYouPlay here is my advice after so many plays of on mars: remain flexible and be opportunistic...so basically play it like a lacerda game. i lose more than i win, so take that with a grain of salt. i did win this last one because my opponent got into a pattern, and i used it against her. she would do upgrades, but i would grab the scientists for end-game scoring that coupled with her upgrades instead of grabbing scientists that would help me during game play. it worked!
as far as dexter goes, i am smiling because you already know how ridiculous weiners are. as i say around my house, "the penny is show is always on". best wish you two. OC is getting POUNDED with covid right now.
The quackoning is coming. Quack along in revelry and delight. Always great to be introduced to great content creators. Subscribed!
Quack! Love Lacerda games. I have them all! Really enjoy your channel, keep it up!
Wonderful video. Really liked the mini categories at the beginning. Im watching this video literally right after my first play of Lisboa at the game night I host. I can certainly see why its your number 1. Im slowly working through his collection having played Kanban, The Gallerist, Vinhos, and now Lisboa.
Keep up the great work. Subscribed.
Will be interesting to see if Kanban moves up after you play EV
Yeah, a list! 😁❤❤
It had to be done! lol
Been following you guys for a little bit but its always nice to see content creators supporting each other. So prepare yourselves because Quackalope has sent an army to support and we are here with lovely echoing quacks!
Really appreciate this series, fantastic game teach and insights. I went and bought three of them (for now) because of this.
Great list! A very comprehensive summary of VL Series and it helps A LOT for someone who is just going to start playing our very first Lacerda soon!
Here is the timestamp for each ranks, enjoy the video!
#7: 3:38
#6: 5:08
#5: 6:49
#4: 8:15
#3: 10:12
#2: 12:39
#1: 16:19
1. Kanban (by far the best... my favorite game all time) love being able to plan a couple moves in advance and track Sandra’s movement and what other players are doing and need. So elegant.
2.On Mars
3. Lisboa
4. CO2
5. Vinhos
6. The Gallerist
7. Escape Plan
Love this! Thank you for sharing your ranking! Those top 3 games, just such beautiful designs. Kanban is amazing, we're pretty excited for Kanban EV!
Of the games I’ve played of his I agree (I have EV). Kanban EV is hands down better than Lisboa as well imho. There is nothing “fun” in Lisboa that provides an adrenaline rush. Just felt like work. However, I LOVE the theme and the board design is perhaps the most impressive board I’ve ever seen. Well, the components for that matter are top notch, but none could make the game stay in my collection...sold after 4 plays. Next up for me is On Mars likely👍
It's funny isn't it that if you played Kanban before The Gallerist, the latter felt like a rehash clone and sullied it a bit.
Only halfway through so far but just had to go ahead and say how much I'm enjoying the video. Really glad Quackalope linked to your video, definitely going to subscribe and go back to watch the whole playthrough series. I mean if Mr. Lacerda himself gives praise I gotta check them out. Excited to check out the rest of your content.
Three QUACKS for Before You Play!
Hip hip, QUACK!
Hip hip, QUACK!
Hip hip, QUACK!
Been waiting for this video forever!!! Great work guys!
Haha Daniel! Thanks for your support, we really appreciate it.
Love love love Vital Lacerda. Not for everyone, but some of my favorites. Quacking over from Quackalope's channel. Nice to find new content creators!
Really enjoy the quality videos that y'all put out. sent to this video by the Quack, but have been watching for a little while now. Hope to see your channel grow more and more
Thank you so so so much for the great great Vital Lacerda series. I've started watching your videos with Tapestry. You should continue playing games from a designer and rank them besides the normal reviews. Thank you!!!!
We are planning on doing another "Designer Series" in the near future. Do you have a designer in mind?
I don’t know how the quack i wasn’t already subbed to your channel... I’ve watched for a while now! Either way, glad to finally subscribe. Keep up the great videos!
Love your content! Opinions are always helpful to see other people's perspectives. Quack quack.
Quacktastic video. I'm still really in my infancy of getting into board games so a short ranking of games like this is super helpful!
Quack, Quack, Quack
Hi guys! I watch and write from Italy 😊 Your videos got us (me and husband) all crazy in love with Vital Lacerda games 😍 your explanations made them all so clear, highlighting the flawless thematic logic that guides them all 😍 you're great and these games are fantastic! 😍 Thank you so much for this Amazing series! We are now craving to buy them all! (Family wallet says thanks as well 🤣) And, as Monique suggests, we are starting with Vinhos (1st version) and On mars 🥰 thanks again to you.. and Vital ❤️ have a happy Easter! 🕊️
Aww thank you so much, we are so glad that you found the videos enjoyable and helpful! We absolutely love Italy and can't wait to go back, there's so much to explore that a 12 day trip didn't feel like enough time!!
Great video! Thanks for making these. I love your teaches too. Your teaches and these thinky games are a great combo. :) Excited to hear about the Lisboa expansion. I didn't know that was on the way. Can't wait for Weather Machine.
Quack quack quack! I was already following you. Thank you very much for your content and keep it up!
I have started to see your videos pop up in my reccomends - glad it did. Great to see fans of heavier euros; your fort runthorugh was very inforamtive
Glad we've found each other! Thanks for taking a chance on us lol 😆
Great video! I'm new to this channel and we own 2 of these games( Lisboa, On Mars) I am interested in KanBan, Escape plan and my wife the gallerist we are watching videos to see what the games look like. It is great to hear how you guys ranked the games. We will continue watching your playthroughs and see which one will be our next Lacerda's. You guys did an amazing job, Greetings from Quebec city!
Loved the serie, always a pleasure see u 2 playing. Lacerda games are amazing, I have Co2, Kanban and On Mars and enjoy them even more every time I play. Now I need to get my hands on Lisboa!
Awesome!! Thank you for watching! oh my gosh, if you haven't yet played Lisboa, you will not be disappointed.
QUACK! Practically all of these games are on my want to play list but I haven't played ANY yet 😶 You guys are giving me the push to play them!
Fantastic series and brilliant job!. My wife & I have played 3 Lacerda's on the bounce over the last several weeks. We started with Lisboa, 5 games, on to Vinhos ( mainly ) 2010 side for 12 games and just notched up our 5th game of On Mars. We both agree On Mars is our favourite so far, followed very closely by Lisboa and really enjoyed Vinhos. After On Mars we are hitting Escape plan and then Kanban. Played the Gallerist a good while back & it didn't click, have to play it again. Don't own CO2, may have to pick it up!
YES! This was just what I was looking for! I just got CO2 after moving to heavier games during the quarantine here in NY. Excited to dive into his catalog over the year or so. Thanks for the great content!
Thanks for watching, hope this helps lead you in the direction of heavier games!
QUACK -ingly informative. Great to get such good commentary.
Thanks for the video and the series as a whole. I have only played On Mars, and I loved it. From the videos I've watched, the Gallerist is next on my list. I am looking forward to your Pfister series, he's my favorite deisner.
Loved this! Looking forward to hearing about your favorite games of all time (if you're planning on doing that)! :)
Solid effort getting through all these games and good summaries! I like how you both have very different opinions on the games and almost never agree. Quack up! :)
This video was so fun! You are great guys!
Just for the effort and the dedication, you guys got a new subscriber in me! Thanks for the content
Thanks for the sub! We are glad you enjoyed it!
I think Vital is my favorite designer as well. When I first got into the hobby not too long ago I wanted a challenging game and ended up with The Gallerist and my mind couldn't comprehend it at all. Now On Mars seems easy to me (to grasp not win.) Wish I had people like you in my area that enjoyed Lacerda as much as you so I could play them. I've only watched Kanban so far since my copy of EV is coming this year and the way you taught it was so clear and precise so great job on that. Look forward to finishing the series.
Lisboa is also on my #1 and its a masterpiece. It's also my introduction into the Lacerda games and was one of my early purchases when I got into board gaming. It definitely holds a special place in my heart, because no other game had me staying up late into the twilight hours learning the game. It felt good after everything "clicked". I have On Mars, Escape Plan, Kanban in my collection as well. I ended up selling the other selling the other Lacerda games, because I didn't care much for the themes. Great games in their own right.
I am amazed you were able to do this. Quack attack but so glad to have found d more great content creators.
I really enjoyed this video, I've been looking at Vital's games for a while. And for the record I watched the video before I was told to quack.
I have previously seen your video on Lacerda games because I love Lacerda games and you’re really great in your reviews/gameplays.
What I didn’t say last time is QUACK! 😂😂
Thank you for the series. I like watching your videos :-)
What a great series 👍
Thanks for that 😃
I never played a Lacerda, but now I will take a closer look into Lisboa 😃👍😃
Great overview and ranking of Vital La- quack -da games!
Leaving a quack here from Quackalope. But you guys inspired me to get Lisboa, and I have been playing solitaire in quarantine. You guys are so chill, and your videos feel more like a conversation than some of the other more subbed bg channels on here. Which is the right mix up? Big fan!
Great video, thanks so much! I haven't played all of them, deliberately, because some of them either don't appeal to me thematically or else they don't play well solo or 2-player, but the ones I HAVE played I have thoroughly enjoyed! However, the only one that I still own is Lisboa, for all the same reasons you have talked about. I do look forward to playing On Mars at some point, but I haven't had an opportunity yet.
I’m already a subscriber but I want to give you guys more love! Keep up the great content and game plays. Love your designer series!
Ducks are flocking by....quack!!
Really happy you did this.
Love the content you are putting out there and have for awhile. I only own two Lacerda games, Escape Plan and Dragon Keepers and love both. Hope you continue making quality content and.... well..... QUACK /waddles away
Quack. Already enjoying the sincere commentary on Before You Play.
When I do the teach for On Mars it helps to start it off with quacking with my friends and then teach a new rule and then QUACK! All jokes aside, just discovered your guys a week ago and love what you do! Keep it up!
whats the whole quacking thing? lol
QUACK! Already a subscriber - hope you get lots more, I really enjoy your content.
Another great video...I was thinking about getting Lisboa then I watched your video and decided to get it. I'm also very excited about On Mars, I love this theme. I've never player any Vital Lacerda game and I know I'm starting with the heaviest ones LOL.
Excited for you to receive Lisboa!! Hope you will like his games as much as we do!
@@BeforeYouPlay I got my Lisboa and had my first game. It's an amazing game. I still have a lot to learn but I already realized it's a very deep game.
Lol for all the gasping, 3/7 of these were the same for you guys! Escape Plan, The Gallerist, and Lisboa :)
Loved watching this!! I love his games as well!! :)
Watched your Shivers preview before the Quack! Great videos
Easy sub - your guys channel is awesome! I’ve only played On Mars at this point (my #2 game of all time) but I love the design so much that I’m quite eager to try out his other games!
Thanks for the sub! Hope you get to try out the other titles soon!!
New to the channel, but love it. Keep Quacking along
Was sent here by Quackalope and subscribed for a potential future "Ranking Vital Lacerda Co-op Games" :)
This games seem menacing for their complexity and the fact that you have played them all is amazing. Thanks for the content and well, you might have guessed already, Quack
Quack! Good channel, already was subbed! Like what you guys are doing!
Thanks for your playtroughs, they helped me choose my first Lacerdas:
Kanban EV
Lisboa
On Mars
They are masterpieces!
I actually was already watching many of your videos... But I finally subscribed. Quack quack.
Great break down of Lacerda's amazing line of games! Quack Quack
Quack !! I loved your on mars coverage. I want the game so bad but I don’t know if my wife and group would fit in with it. Amazing guys thank you!
Great job guys! I really enjoy your reviews and playthrough videos. Please keep it up and know that I for one support you. And as a side note ... Vital Lacerda is my favorite Designer! I backed Kanban EV and can't wait for your review and playthrough. of the 7 I am only missing Lisboa, which I hope I can find at a bargin. _ Thanks again for you both!
7. Lisboa - Only because I do not have it to play :(
6. CO2 2nd Chance (coop)
5. On Mars - DAMN this one is hard, but I love it and after a few more plays I think it will climb up my list
4. Vinhos with the bank
3. Kanban - Love the Theme
2. Escape Plan - Love the Theme
1. The Gallerist - Love the Theme
Hi John, please tell me you've at least played Lisboa??!!? On Mars is a beast, he has so many gems that it really is hard to rate them all.
I wanted to just Quack here - but all of the places the 'lope sends us to are fantastic.
This is in my 'to watch' list.
I need more Lacerda.
And he even commented on this vid.
Every time I'm amazed by the BGG / Game community how great it is.
Great stuff guys.
Am going to follow you because of great stuff, not because some guy pushed me this way!
Glad I could show them off!
Lacerdas games are great. Had a game of Lisboa with my friends 2 days ago. Took us 6 hours to get through tutorial and finish 1 game with 4 people. Thanks to your video tutorial our patience was preserved.
Nice work! Did you all have fun?
@@BeforeYouPlay definitely one the best games ever. Found it on tabletop, playing online tonight ;)
I have not played any of these but now I definitely want to. Thank you, and quack.
I like the quack down on Vital Lacerda's games. Thanks for the content. I would recommend writing the name on each game somewhere or showing it to make it easier to find elsewhere.
I have watched your videos before and your petrichor playthrough got me over the line in their latest kickstarter. So thankyou! But like most others Quackalope brought me here... Quack!
Quack quack! Been a subscriber for a while now, love your videos. Ok, I'm going to duck out of here.
Quack on! I have never played any of these games but now I am on the hunt to get a few. Thanks.
Thank you for this list, I have just received Lisboa, making my Vital Lacerda collection (almost) complete 😁 (I’m looking at you, Escape Plan). On Mars was my first, so I actually think it is one of the easiest to to learn and teach to others 😁.
I loved this video, pretty new subscriber (2 weeks) love your style. Quack :)
I recently bought Lisboa but have yet to QUACK it open. Your video has me even more excited to do so!!
Great job and thank you for doing the work! ...Quack quack
Great list. I have played exactly 0 Lacerda games. Weight has kept me from picking one up, but Lisboa has always been the most interesting. Good to hear you two like it best.
oh and...
Viva la quack!
Thanks for the rankings! Have a lot more games to check out! Was sent here by a Quack!
Great job going through all the Lacerda games, I haven't been able to play them all but here are my top 3: 1. The Gallerist 2. On Mars 3. Escape Plan
Which ones are you still needing to play?
@@BeforeYouPlay Lisboa is next on my list but it got derailed by covid and I just picked up Vinhos so wanna get that played after Lisboa
A Quack quacking good video... Subscribed.
I absolutely adore this channel.
Thank you for the support! :-)
I was in total awe of Ian O'Toole's artwork for CO2: Second Chance. It caught my eye at Essen and picked it up when I got back to the states.
Thank you so much for the Lacerda series. My Lacerda journey started with the On Mars KS. Then the Kanban EV KS followed and I hopy to get my copy by end of the year. Next week will be my birthday and I know for sure that I will get Lisboa :-)) So some more Lacerda games are waiting for me and sooner or later I will get some more. It just depneds on the content of my wallet ......
I was not aware the there will be an expansion for Lisboa. Thank you for information.
Glad to enjoyed the series, we had a lot of fun doing it! Have you played Lisboa yet, or will it be your first time?
@@BeforeYouPlay I never played Lisboa before. I can't wait to get my copy on 23rd July :-)
Such a good video 👍👍 thanks 😉
Already subbed, but hey, let's Quack away. Please keep doing those usefull and informative videos. Those deep dive by designer are so much fun. Thank you for your hard work.
Thank you for this... my introduction was playing Lisboa and really enjoyed it. Wanted to learn more and stumbled on to your play through and review. Watched all of the vids and have played On Mars..... 5 to go
Oh man, so excited for you to try out the other titles.
@@BeforeYouPlay Gallerist and Vinhos done.... Kanban is next
