- This video shows how I constructed a DIY motorcycle turn signal buzzer for around $15. The turn signal indicator on my Yamaha XT225 is really weak and so I decided to give a buzzer a try. My website also has a page with more info on the build:

Thanks. I was just googling how to add a buzzer because I have the same issue with my constant on indicator light in my 1974 CB200T. I think I'm going to try this, but I already have a diode added leading up to my light because of the LED lights I added. I plan to tap into that wire right before the indicator lamp and see if that works.
I'm about to do this for my Honda Shadow. Same problem. I can't see the indicator light in the sunlight. I'm always forgetting to cancel the blinker. But, I am going to try it a little different way. I'm going to connect the buzzer to the indicator light directly.
By the way, can we just install parallel with existing indicator lamp instead of connecting 2 positive wire to lamps?
Hi, I like the buzzer. I also like the colour scheme on your bike. I painted my Serow grey, but am unable to select the best colour matches to paint on the tank and the little plastic fairing to take the form of letter 7 as it appears on your bike. Kindly advice me. Paul, Kenya, east Africa.
can you hook the buzzer directly to the main fasher cube
WHAT NUMBERS ARE ON THE DIODES, OR IS THAT IMPORTANT ...THANKS
A small piece of gaffa tape over the hole will make it waterproof. Mine was excessively loud so multiple layers of tape will achieve the volume required.
Thanks, Robert! I never really waterproofed this setup, thinking I'd do it later, and somehow it's still working flawlessly two years later. Which reminds me, I should do this mod on the SR250, too...
Beautiful!!!!!!!! Next project of mine
i was trying to do the same thing and i looked at the cables and said: there should be diodes, then i watched this, now am sure i was right. thanx a lot.
is there any other better buzzer sound
good video. where did you get the diodes 🤔
Excellent video well presented . Do you have a link or more information about what specific zenner diode is used as I’ve never heard of zenner diode let alone use one. Where can I get these two diode and is there a specific voltage . I’m in the USA .
Thanks, Ish, here's a complete write-up on everything you'll need: jimmytmoto.com/buzzer/
you only need one flasher tie in paralee on flasher relay output
Very good working very well well done
Great idea 👍
There are a lot of different buzzers on Amazon. Aside from you saying get a "continuous Tone buzzer" can you identify the exact model you purchased that worked well. Thanks.
I think what you are using is standard silicon diode, not Zener diode.
I can hear it around 7:30 in the video and it doesn't sound like a garbage truck backing up like may of them do. However I thought Radio Shack closed? Sadly the link you provided to the buzzer from Radio Shack's online store says they are sold out.
Amazon now...

Hi Jimmy.what diode you used in positive vire ?
Can you tell me specs of diode watt/current amp?
What decibel was the buzzer? The one I have ordered is 90DB. Also if you do not want to mess with Diodes, could you just fit 2 buzzers for left and right.
This buzzer was 86db, so pretty much the same as yours. And, yes, you could just fit two buzzers, which would be easier for sure. Good luck with the project!
I wonder why manufacturer take out the signal buzzer?
Great, now I want to add this to my KLX. LOL
Wow good
Exalant video
Does anyone know if this will work OK on motorcycles with LED turn lights?
if the indicator warning light on the dash is a LED lamp would all operate normally ?
Hi John, I'm not 100% sure but I think it would be fine as long as it's 12v. The turn signals are another matter, though, and would require a different flasher relay.
Diode values /numbers please?
Does anyone know why bikes aren't equipped with buzzers by default? It would be just common sense! P.S. thanks for the video - thank to you I managed to install buzzer on my Kawasaki Versys!
Nice! I'm glad to hear the buzzer worked for you. I remember a few Kawasakis having buzzers waaaay back around 1980 but no idea why they didn't last. Every time I go riding with friends, everyone spends half the day riding around with their turn signals on. Buzzers make sense to me!
Thank you Jimmy @ridingwithhg
