The Last of Us , Linda Ronstadt - Krátké a kreslené filmy
Wow just read all the comments & how nice that Tony was so well appreciated. I never knew he died in the 90's so that was a shock to read & I feel really sad as he had exciting plans for his future. I'm the short cop on the left behind him as we made our entrance through the avenue of trees. He was smashing to work with for nearly 5 months (I think) at Shepperton & wish I'd gone to New York before he died to visit him. Yours Frankie Cull
The entire production was nothing short of perfect. Bravo everyone.
Respect
Who can ever shake that "Tarantara" out of their head once hearing it? Ha! This was my favorite part of the Pirates of Penzance, Tony Azito and the other officers. Tony Azito was amazing, so flexible yet in perfect time w/the others. It has to be watched numerous times to fully enjoy it: seeing Tony's flexible joints and how he could move them, watching the faces of the other officers, their knee-knocking fear.....just hysterical! BRAVO! Tony would've gone far had he lived.Thank you for posting this. Always brings a smile to my face to watch it. And as already stated, George Rose was always incredible no matter what role he was in.
I was a lowly pirate in a school production of "Pirates" - we watched this production for inspiration. Tony Azito is a hero of mine, great performance, in this and in "a Policeman's lot is not a happy one". It's like he's made of rubber :-)
RIP Tony and George
john wilson Hope you enjoyed the role; I would think it was fun, regardless of your role. I read an article quoting Tony Azito as saying everyone would tell him he must've been given free reign but he said this was choreographed to the letter; that there wasn't enough room to NOT have every single step choreographed through the entire production. He was marvelous. I hate to say it but I didn't know who the "keystone cops" were before this; had to Google them...ha ha! And I'm a senior! :) Tony really brought them back to life and added even more character to them. Excellent. Embarrassed to admit how many times I've watched this entire production...and still do! :)
paid4infull Sorry for delayed response - Tony Azito still steals the scenes he is in. Would loved to have seen him live in this role. He was a fantastic dancer and performer :-)
What joints? He has none.(LOL) He's like a Gumby figure.
We lost him to a illness related to Aids too soon too young.
I just love it when Mabel sings the word "slaughter" and "die" at 1:53 and 2:07
You have to give the Sergeant credit. Even though he's scared shitless, he's still going to do his job come hell or high water. His subordinates are the real chickens here, and seeing him trying to keep them from running away never fails to make me laugh.
I also have to give props to the arrangement of the song. The original version is too slow-paced to ever work on film. The faster tempo of this version makes for a much more exciting, joyous scene.
I too saw the original and enjoy this one much more also. I think my favorite part of the entire production is when the General says to the sergeant, when they're procrastinating about going off to fight the pirates, "but you're still here!" and the sergeant does that little "Slinky" move behind the troop to move them along...that just really cracks me up no matter how many times I see it. :)
Sergeant is Luigi. I mean, go play Luigi's Mansion. There is no doubt Luigi was scared during that game, just like the Sergeant here. But Luigi still went on and saved his brother, much like the Sergeant's resolve to do his job.
Maybe other people do it slow, however on the score, the tempo is marked as "Allegro marziale", rather than a metronome mark, so that leaves a large scope for interpretation of tempo! I am MD'ing this show in about 5 weeks, and I always take it about this fast!
In the school play I'm the sergeant haha
Johnny Centofanti Nice.
Watching Tony’s footwork as he disperses his men around is brilliant, on the whole he’s absolutely perfect , he was taken too soon, I keep watching this , amongst others 👍🇮🇪☘️
I love this version best, because that leading constable is so hilarious to watch dancing around like that! It's like he has the loosest joints in the world!
Pirates of Penzance changed my life. It was my first musical (string bass in the pit orchestra) and it was the greatest bonding experience of high school. Outside of concerts and recitals, it was also the first time I ever performed for an audience. Years later, I met my wife playing a pirate RPG at a convention that I wouldn't have been in except for this. Great music, great dancing, Linda Ronstadt and Tony Azito (and Kevin Kline and Angela Lansbury) all having a blast.
Was it fun?
@@martinpatrick9915 Yes, it was.
4:41. Dat slide.
Yes! That's my favorite part in the whole entire production! :) Wow, he had it down pat, that's for sure.
The girls are real great at encouragement... But I have got to say Mabel can BELT! Whoo, that girl has lungs!
Well she did have lots of practice in those years of doing rock concerts, belting out songs like "Heat Wave" and "You're No Good" among others! I think Linda Ronstadt felt more comfortable doing her part in this song, then in the coloratura aria "Poor Wandering One", which in my opinion she still sang quite well.
I play Mabel in Pirates of Penzance all I can think about is the word she's saying she's basically yelling at them and telling them to die for Glory it's weird. Lol
Both this and her aria were transposed down to accommodate her belt range.
@@JVSphone they didnt need to though but it does sound good either way
That other girl's no slouch, either. : )
These guys should work for the Ministry of Silly Walks
Thank You
They're likely the enforcement division.
i forgot how good this is
This and cat like tread are my favorite.
omg sameee lol
+Jasmine Middaugh im revisiting this again omg this is so nostalgic
2:43 best part in the entire movie
"Go ye heroes go and die!" Cops: "Gee... Thanks for the vote of confidence."
This is THE best performance of this tune!
Couldn't care less about Gilbert and Sullivan until Ronstadt's voice brought my young rock and roll self to Central Park in New York City to see this show. On a hot summer night - just wowed. No star turn for Linda, just part of a great ensemble, she was a charmer and a long way from the stadiums she had been playing. Other versions seem stiff and stuffy. This was joyous.
I read that many people believed that Tony Azito would never be able to dance correctly because his hight would make him un-graceful, but if you watch his leap at 1:33 , and take away the goofy Keystone cop outfit and replace it with what he actually looks like, it's a very beutiful, graceful, well executed, ballet-style jump. Abolutly gorgeous, when you think about it. :) Rest In Peace, Tony.
I was feeling down, and clicked on a link that took me here; and within a minute I was laughing. So much art and talent spent on producing something aiming only to be gloriously goofy--and it was worth it.
Gilbert and Sullivan ....geniuses.
We did this musical at school... 7 years later and this song is STILL stuck in my head. ( I was a policeman)
Sonya Atir 😀
I got the opportunity to see a performance of this show live, and I spent the whole show just waiting for this song and the Modern Major General scene. Although it was amazing to see it in the theatre, nothing can beat this version. ❤
Ive loved this play ever since i first saw my grand parents in the play my grandad was a Pirate and also a police man while my gran was one of the generals Daughters and in the final screan she was 1 of the villagers.
Waluigi?
Ta-wah Ta-wah Ta-wah Ta-wah

How charming and brilliant! The performers are so good they are almost unreal
My mother's excellent taste in music brought me here.
our school's doing this play this year:D
I'm so privileged to play the Sergeant!
Honorary Luigi, *epic*.
Tony Azito's dancing is AMAZING
An emeute is like a coup or a riot or uprising etc.
Oh and I love the sergeant in this. Wonderful performer!!!!!
Mutiny!
Haha I'm playing a policeman in this musical next week but it would never EVER be as good as this! I love it!
OMG! I love this scene especialy the police officers dancing and Tony Azito's singing
This is what musical comedy is all about, light hearted comedy and pure entertainment!
One of the best satirical anti-war song every made
Hear, hear!
Ahh memories. This was defiantly my favourite production to be a part of
I've been watching Essgee versions of Gilbert and Sullivan and it's interesting to watch this movie and see that it obviously gave them inspiration with general tone and even some dance moves.
Joseph Papp brought his verison of Pirates to australia some years ago.and I've seen video of it and it feels like the american verison.
fantastic !! loved it watched it three times now
What a wonderful performance, one of my favourites :)
Recently I was in the pit for a performance of this- out of all the songs, this was one of my favourite :) Great song!!
This is my favourite song in this musical because it's the most catchy to me.
This song shud be in the charts now it so good and catchy 2019 xxxx
Thank you so much for uploading this! You're awesome
!

I'm playing a daughter and a cop. I must be crazy for signing onto this project...
I seriously LOATHE this show. And now I will forever have this song stuck in my head.
I love these guys! The way they walk is just freaking hilarious!
If this was made today I feel like Sacha Baron Cohen would be perfect for the Sergeant
I can actually see that
How to sing Gilbert and Sullivan: say, "tarantula" over and over again
0:35 How me and the boys roll up to the clubs..
@3:03 is he even real?
That's EXACTLY what I asked myself first time I saw him in this: just about fell off the sofa laughing so hard, played it over and over: yep, seems he was real. ;)
I can't help but chuckle at this song it never fails to bring a smile to my face. The sarge looks like he want to break dance at certain points :P
I didn't even know that Linda Ronstadt was in this one until I read the credits. Great work! 😎
I LOVE this song! Defiantly one of my favs....:)
Frickin love this song
INCREDIBLE!
love this movie!!!!!!
A classic rendition of one of G&S's best songs. Thanks for uploading it. They really need to bring it out of DVD or something.
I've always loved this scene! Ever since I first watched this when I was 5. Always loved the dancing policemen!
It is Ive watched this thousands of time (video and play)
brilliant. such fun. G and SENT would have loved it.
This scene is like the inspiration of my life! i love it!
this is one of my favorite scenes in the movie :3
One of the best numbers in the entire show!
Queen Victoria ordered a cammand performance of what she considered Sullivans masterpiece he thought she meant Ivanhoe and prepared for it when the Queen said to him "I have always loved The Mikado"
I'm speechless!
2:27, when the sergent (SPELT right?) Wave his and during "Are going to meet their fate in a highly nerves state", Mabel's reaction is hilarious....or at least to me it is.
FAVORITE SCENE
Man this brings back memories. My Mom was really into musicals and such, and as a kid i watched more than a few greats with her. this one was always my favorite, i think. probably it's silly, Light-hearted nature. Also...Pirates!
I still find myself humming this tune whenever im about to do something difficult, or about to fight a boss in a game or such. Love that lanky lead officer!
Any chance theyll restore/re-release this in a modern format? iv only ever seen VHS copies and...no, not doin that. Would love to own a good quality version of this movie tho, for sure.
Bwahahahahahahaaaa!!!
Love Pirates.
This makes me laugh hysterically each and every time!
The cast of the central park production reprising their roles in the film version of Pirates.
wonderful, good luck
GOD, I LOVE THIS SONG!!!
Heheh I was the sergeant in my school play. This is so nostalgic
Is this police guy a living slinky?
all right!
yes
indeed
I get to choreograph this. :) How exciting.
@E2theSamps Cool! I'm playing a pirate in act one and Police sergeant in act 2 in our school's production of this! :D
"Damn it, they don't go!" 😂
We did this play at our Middle School XD
I loved working there
@SegaCD What a wonderful image - policemen made of otters! You're exactly right.
My favorite part is "Damn it! Theyre still here!"
Listening to the words so well enunciated (and without the thick Brit accent) and seeing them printed--I finally understand what this song's all about (a bit embarrassed...), Well done! Brrrrilliant!
yeah he did
I loved this movie and thought Linda Ronstadt was awesome. What a voice! I thought all the actors were great. The head constable is hilarious. The guy is made of freakin rubber! lol.
yep
This is so great, I swear the police are made out of otters in this or something, 4:40
My friend is a cop!! And the seargent.... does sweet dancing!!!!!
Actual footage of the Uvalde police
i like it when he says "Though", when he says "though to us its evident"
They recorded the cast album with the stars of the central park production and the broadway production..and this song is from the show.
Doing a show this musically difficult in middle school? Wow. Our production of this opens tomorrow. This is probably my favourite song.
Edith, hah!!
Heh. Just love this.
pirates of penzance best musical i seen
THIS SOUNDS LIKE WHEN JOHNNY COMES MARCHING HOME
One of the best satirical anti-war song every made
Haha I loved performing this musical. It was fun. ^_^
Yes, but you don't go!
DANG IT, THEY DON'T GO!!
MY GOODNESS! Thats the point.
Pretty sure it's "dread adventure," as opposed to "dreaded venture." But, c'est la vie. :-)
My wife and I watched this movie for the first time in several years, and both of us came to the conclusion that Tony Azito must not have had any bones at all. It should not be possible for human limbs to move like that. The other policemen were great too, but in order to really notice them it's necessary to go back and watch the scene again. He absolutely steals the scene.
To be that awkward and gangly at the same time as being incredibly coordinated and precise is immense skill, practice, and natural ability! He may be a lawman, but you are right, he commits dastardly larceny by stealing any scene he is in. *lol*
I have always loved the bobbies in this play.
Agreed
+Gordon Fields Dito
This is the Best song
DJproductions305 I don't know, "With Cat-like Tread" is pretty awesome.
The Sergeant is the best role in this play. Period, it is by far the most fun
My father - a WW2 ver - loved this song!
