  • Labour candidate Faiza Shaheen says her candidacy for Chingford and Woodford Green has been blocked by the Labour Party.
In the interview with Victoria Derbyshire, she describes hearing that her candidacy had been pulled over liking a series of Tweets which she claims Labour said would frustrate its campaign.
There are currently known to be six candidates standing in Chingford and Woodford Green: Chris Brody for the Green Party, Josh Hadley for the Liberal Democrats, Yousaff Khan for the Workers Party of Britain, Paul Luggeri of Reform UK, Faiza Shaheen and Iain Duncan Smith of the Conservative Party.

Unless it was to paint this tweet as extremely toxic. The reality is the tweet is just pointing out facts. The Labour Party were looking for a reason to boot her out because she's one of the few socialists left . Derbyshire should have looked at this objectively by reading the full tweet and thus giving the full context. She should be laughing at how ridiculous it is - instead of making things sound worse than they are. So disgusting.

I would worry that rather than combating antisemitism this entire debacle could create antisemitism. Liking the most mild tweet that's also completely true in context about a foreign lobby will get you booted out of a party, smeared by your colleagues and smeared by journalists on TV who will portray your actions out of context and in the least charitable way possible. That's going to create a lot of questions from onlookers wondering whats really going on here.

This whole affair reeks of corruption. The power Israel has through AIPAC and related groups and influences elections in foreign counties is _highly_ problematic. I would go as far as calling it illegal as it’s clearly foreign election interference. It is appalling to see candidates being purged due to this corruption scheme.
