- A new UFC star Jiri Prochazka might have just been born in one of the UFC's premier divisions.
UFC LHW Jiri Prochazka knocked out Dominick Reyes with a spinning back elbow in the main event of UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas.It was only the third spinning back elbow KO in UFC history, and Jiri Prochazka is the heaviest man to pull off the feat in the UFC Octagon. The spectacular finish will likely be a UFC Knockout of the Year candidate.

I wouldn't rush for tittle fight... Denisa is great fighter but still need a lot to learn... He is too open and if he wouldn't have such a strong will...he would lose so many times... But body has a limits and he can't take these damages forever.... But I believe that he will be UFC lhw champion next year

Yes DC sort of brushed over this on his take. To implement the type of changes he did between Volk and Reyes fight was actually absurd. When you train things to be second nature it is as difficult to unlearn as it is to learn once you have it down. So for all those holes to not exist you have to have a person who is mentally sharp. This type of adaptability cannot be taught but now I will read that book and find out.

Jiří is completely different from Tony. He's not a trash talker + Tony has no clue about the philosophy of Jiří. The only commonality is that they are both unorthodox in their movement.
He was clearly referring to his fighting style, not pre fight antics. Prochazka is wild and has some disregard to defense, just like Tony.

I honestly hate the "hype culture" because it creates bubbles of unnecessary excitement. If Jiří loses to Jan (which can easilly happen) than the bubble will burst and everybody will be saying how they saw that comming with his reckless style and all that and the discussions will turn ugly - because thats the only think you can really go on with if you dont want to admit you were part of the hype. If he was simply taken seriously but with causion, this would not happen and everybody could be happy that there is this fairly young athlete who lost this one match but will be back with more experience and possibly take the title down the line sometime in the future.
Truth is, I see him blasting Jan and taking him out just like Santos did....

Idk bro, Jan has the anti style. The only question is does Jan still struggle with with really fast starters. We don't reaaally know. But what we do know is Jan can end him with 1 punch and Jiri really can't. While possessing power its a Paulo Costa high cardio type of power but unlike Costa dudes throwing elbows and knees like Jon Jones and footwork like Tony. But Jans power is different, he just beats pressure fighters and he can for sure out grapple this guy. If jiri wins it will be because of his preparation, what DC said was true, I was 100 percent like hype train and the dude blew my mind. Non of the holes were there from the volk fight. Shit was actually insane. Well see.

@@artas9371 incorrect, Jan is not some low level opponent who will tilt on a feint run into a bad position where he has that type of power. If Jan gets knocked out he will be badly hurt already. Not the case with the champ.. Jan simply waits until the opponent puts themselves in that position, thats how he took Reyes head nearly off with literal zero wasted effort. He can def knee or elbow him though, particularly his knees are scary for Jan I believe as elbows are likely to get countered which is bad bad.
Even tho there is something special and insanely entertaining about Jiri, his style will catch up to him, he is eating shots like pancakes. Anyone remember Johnny walker anymore? yeah thought so

I have not yet heard his name spoken correctly. The best was Yuri Prohazka, but it is still wrong. Even the nickname is wrong, because without saying the ending "A" it changes to a male variant, which loses its joke.
Actually, I don't understand that I didn't see anywhere from her how to call him, he probably doesn't mind. Yuri needs to change to Yura (Jura) or Yirka (Jirka), which should be able to pronounce English speakers.

when fighters talk about being "Great" there is only a handful of them who you can name.. because greatness is %100 devotion to your craft and putting aside all distractions.. which is where most fighters fail and become mediocre in the end when they get caught up in ego, material distractions and substances that send them down the wrong path.. Jiri is the next Truly GREAT fighter in the UFC. who is striving for perfection and mastery.. and not simply to be the champion ... that is unheard of. also he is doing everything the right way. this is his life's pursuit. there is no doubt, this man will be champion. and hold that belt for a LONG time. also he's one of the most unorthodox and exciting fighters to watch... he's breaking the MMa mold and showing people what a true fighter can do when you're constantly reinventing your style and keeping your opponent guessing your every move. very unpredictable style that we have never seen in MMa before..

Jiri's sheer will to go in there and win no matter what may be unmatched. Not even being upkicked unconscious by Dom could stop him from getting the win, how crazy is that? Name a fighter that's gone to sleep from a strike but somehow recovered and won like that. And just to rub it in, right as that upkick lands and you see Jiri kind of slump and fall on Dom, he somehow manages to advance position as he's waking up and recovering lol. That being said, Jan Blachowicz is not Dominick Reyes and that legendary Polish Power in his hands is not an exaggeration. Jiri was very openly critical of his own performance, he didn't like it at all. People told him he was being too hard on himself but he's not. As amazing as his performance was he's right to to be upset about his ability to get hit, particularly the counter. I hope he believes what I believe so that he puts 100% of his focus and energy in to it, and what I believe is that his performance although great against Reyes would have got him knocked out against Jan. I can't wait to see that fight it's going to be intense, a high level but sometimes reckless striker who only moves forward with overwhelming pressure can only end 1 way against Jan. I'm not sure which guy pulls it off but you can bet the house it's not going the distance.

His surname means Walker. But he's not like Johnny Walker, he's actually the world's top fighter, unlike Walker and he knows what he's doing. He's got a lot of success behind already and has a different attitude. Johnny Walker was typical hypetrain, Jiri has been a true top worldclass fighter for several years already and kept proving it again and again.

You know who Jiri prochazka reminds me of? Dominik Hasek, a Hockey goaltender. But there is so much in common, both are Czech athletes who were heavily criticized for their styles that were said to be bad and could never work. Well both Hasek and Prochazka are very successful with their rather uncommon styles and it's why both are so well known.
