    Weekly cleaning is recommended to keep your Honeywell Cool Mist Humidifier running efficiently. All maintenance should be done in the kitchen or the bathroom on a water resistant surface near a faucet. Before cleaning, turn off, unplug, and remove any accessories from the humidifier. Then empty the water tank and reservoir and follw these seperate steps for descaling and disinfecting. Both steps are important and should be preformed weekly. To descale the unit, pour two cups of undiluted distilled white vinegar in the water tank and replace the cap. Gently swish the solution in the tank to make sure the vinegar wets the entire inside. Place the tank on the base so the vinegar can drain into the water reservoir and loosed mineral buildup. Soak for twenty minutes. After soaking, empty vinegar from the water tank and reservoir, and use a soft cloth to gently wipe inside the base and nebulizer if necessary. Rinse the tank and reservoir with water until the smell of vinegar is gone. To disinfect, mix one gallon of water with one teaspoon of bleach. Pour bleach solution into the water tank and replace the cap. Swish the solution in the tank to make sure it wets the entire inside. Place the tank on the base to let the solution drain into the reservoir and soak for twenty minutes. Empty the solution from the tank and reservoir then rinse with water until the smell of bleach is gone.

    Cleaned my humidifier with vinegar and bleach solution as instructed after that it stopped misting and the cold water in the tank turned warm. How do I fix it?

    Hi Honeywell. Just bought my first humidifier today and I saw in the manual i need distilled white vinegar but cant find it here in any of the grocery store. Can I use white vinegar instead?

    • @honeywellpluggedin9834
      @honeywellpluggedin9834  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey Trisha. Thank you for your inquiry. To confirm, you may use white vinegar (with distilled water to 5% acidity) which can be found in many department stores/supermarkets. We hope this information is helpful! If you require additional assistance, please reach out to us at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com.

    The bleach I have is lemon scented. Is that ok to use? Or does it have to be regular unscented?

    • @honeywellpluggedin9834
      @honeywellpluggedin9834  Před 2 lety +1

      That is a good question. We would advise using unscented bleach, but as long as you make sure to thoroughly rinse your unit of the bleach after cleaning, there should not be an issue with using the bleach you have. If you have any other questions, please email our support team at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com and we will be happy to assist you.

    I used white vinegar, but it doesn't say at all if it's distilled or undistilled, and if it diluted or undiluted. Is this ok?

    • @honeywellpluggedin9834
      @honeywellpluggedin9834  Před 2 lety

      Hey Shune. To clarify, we recommend using undiluted distilled white vinegar for descaling your humidifier. We hope this is helpful! If you require additional assistance, please email us at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com.

    One question: How do you clean the tube where the mist rises? There is a slimy buildup there. Thanks!

    my Honeywell humidifier stopped working. it turns on and runs but no steam is coming out. I've cleaned it with water. it works for a little then stops?? Will cleaning it with vinegar fix the issue?

    • @honeywellpluggedin9834
      @honeywellpluggedin9834  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you for reaching out to us. Yes, cleaning with vinegar will clean the humidifier of mineral deposits (even some you cannot see), which can prevent the unit from generating mist. Rinsing the humidifier with water will not clean away enough of the minerals to allow the humidifier to work correctly. If you need further assistance or have any other questions, please email us at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com and we will be happy to assist you.
