Had to click on this the moment i saw it. Glad to see someone has finally come out with a kit of this unique and radically different car for its time. Makes me wonder - if Revell or AMT had brought out a model of the Tucker when the movie came out in 1988, it might have sold very well.
OMG that is incredible!!! Looks like a beautiful kit!!! I've wanted a Tucker since the movie came out in '88. Don't know if I can justify $200 but it's so cool!!!!
I am so jealous! This looks absolutely amazing. This has been something I've wanted for decades. Always been in the top 5 of kits they should make. Not only is this a ton of craftsmanship, but to think this is being done during war time ?!🤯🤯
Ive always been very surprised no major manufacturers ever did this kit. Great box opening, thanks for sharing. I can better see why the price point of the kit. Kind of a high detail curbside. Curbside is a bit hard to swallow at the price though too. Look forward to seeing others build these up.
Hi Adam! I agree! I recall the Franklin Mint selling VERY expensive display pieces back in the day. But that was basically it. So I was stoked to see this on the horizon. Definitely took some financial planning for this one! 😁 True, chrome plating would be a nice addition.
The problem with trying to do this as a traditional model kit is that there's no return on the investment. With only 50ish of them ever being built, there's no "next release" that would exist, so it would be a one and done type of tooling. Chances are it would have to be a simplified curbside kit, because a full detail one-off type of kit would have a MSRP pushing towards $80. Granted that's perhaps a more palatable price than this resin multimedia affair, but would be an absolute clunker in terms of retail sales.
@@scottsinaz3000 I was checking that one out back in April. It's an interesting car since it was a daily driver and has a lot of wear and tear. Probably the only one in that kind of condition. Others are all pristine.
Me too!! When I found out about these a few months ago, I was excited! Then I found out Iceman Collections were importing them for U.S. distribution, I was extremely excited!! 😁
This is a beautiful, well researched, well-engineered model of a (very!) long-desired subject, to be sure. Red Wheels is to be commended for bringing this out. No doubt about it. But this kit is too rich for my blood. And though I've been building models for over half a century, this is way too complicated for my accumulated skill level. Hopefully the success of this model kit will serve to 'kickstart' someone else (MiniArt, Roden, or better still, AMT,) to come out with a simpler, more conventional, injection-molded styrene kit (with a full engine, opening hood and 'frunk,') for less than half the price of this one. I've waited this long for a '48 Tucker. I think I can wait a little bit longer. Thanks for sharing this in-box review with us!
An absolutely stunning kit! Why no one has thought to produce this until now is beyond me. How about a '34 Chrysler Airflow...or a '37 Lincoln Zephyr? An auto museum near me (Stahls) has a restored Tucker that they DRIVE to concours events....Mr. Stahl believes all of his cars should be driven, and they are all registered and insured!!
Hi Mark, that museum sounds awesome! I'm going to look it up! We have a museum near us that has Black Tucker on display and looks like it has been a daily driver. I hope to get over there for some reference photos. 😄 I honestly wish folks that make kits could make just about everything! Perhaps bone day. Thank you for tuning to check it out
Thanks for the review! You will have noticed many points that we paid a lot of attention to during development. As for the templates for glass. The Tucker 48 is missing the black trim. These templates are designed to help you cut out the glass by hand if the main milled glass gets damaged or scratched.
Hello, Thank you for producing such an amazing model kit! I feel the quality is outstanding and I am looking forward to building it! Also, thank you for the comment to clarify the question of the "glass". It is greatly appreciated! Bryan
Hi Tom! 100% agree! What would cars today be like if he was allowed to manufacture them. I swear the safety innovations were about 20 years ahead of what the big three were willing to produce. I'm going to do my best work on this one! I'll be building in honor of my dad and grandfather.
Great Video Brian, That Resin Tucker kit reminds me of a Wingnut Wings kit with those instructions. Any chance ya know if Iceman Collections has plans on doing or selling the Resin Eleanor Mustang? Thanks Again........I WANT A TUCKER NOW!
Hi Bryan. That kit is even better than I had hoped for. AMAZING!!! There is value there for sure. I hope you got a 5 finger discount on some of those Iceman products!
So what are you thinking? Custom? Lowrider? Demolition Derby Car ? 😆 LOL. That body looks perfect - very high quality. I wonder if choosing the color will be the hardest part. Did Tucker own one of those as his own? I wonder what color his personal car was? I don't think you will need any putty on this build.
Hi Bruce, thank you for watching. If I recall correctly Tucker didn't own one, all 50 cars were sold to help cover legal fees I believe. I do know the blue color was a favorite bod Mrs Tucker. And of course the maroon one was the feature car in the movie. I agree, it doesn't look or feel like I will need any spot fixes on the body! Andy yeah, the color WILL be the hardest part!! 😁
Hmm, I've never really wanted to build a Resin/3D model, but the Tucker is such an interesting historical piece, it just might be worth it. I'll have to see what my budget looks like when Joel releases the few he has left. Speaking of Joel, where is he from? I've had a couple of friends over the years named Joel, but they didn't emphasize the "L". Peace and love.
My interest in Tuckers pre-dates the movie. Would love to build a model of it, in Waltz Blue. tbh, I'm kinda disappointed that the hood doesn't open, and that there is no motor, especially for this price point. I would like to support a start-up model kit maker, but this price is far beyond affordable on my retirement income.
Howdy, I get it. A lot of types of models are going to be a bit extra in price. Like Alfa Models. They also charge a premium for their curb side kits. I never envisioned buying one of those, but once I found out about this one, I shifted some funds to make it work. Both my father and grandfather were big fans of the car so I hope to build it in their honor.
To my knowledge, no one has ever made a Tucker model kit. So this very well may be the first and only! Try the link in the video description for pricing.
Caugh, caugh! Wow! I just went an looked, $195 bucks, not on this old fat man's pension... Lol Love the kit and that it is a Tucker and all ... I do love to have a Tucker but wow... Thats 17 Ollies kits or 40 bottles of Mr color Thin Glue... 🤣 Just kidding you keyboard mashers, get those fingers off of the keys... 🤪 I know, it's a Tucker... 😁 Awesome unboxing BG an assistant... 👏 LLAP 🖖
LOL, true, it is an investment. Once I saw this on the horizon I made some plans to sock away some money for it. Which meant going easy at vendor tables for the last few shows I got to attend. Dang. I wish we had Ollie's out here. It always seems like you guys snag some cool stuff there. 😁

I've been to the Petersen auto museum and got to see Preston Tucker's privately owned 48!!! Just breath taking.
Oh really!! I didn't know Tucker actually kept one for himself! What color was it?
