  • HONDA RSC CB750 Racer (1973) in Track Test @ Twin Ring Motegi , Tochigi-pref. ,Japan , 17 September 2014
    In 1973 RSC entered the CB750R in the Daytona 200 Mile race.
    The CB750R was based on the production Dream CB750 FOUR and improved to exert over 90 PS and reach 250 km/h.
    The coloring of the machine was the first to sport the now familiar Honda tricolor design.
    Amid the majority of 2-stroke machines, Morio Sumiya rode his 4-stroke CB750RACER to 6th.
    ツインリンクもてぎで行われた動作確認テストより,CB750Racerです。
    デイトナ200マイルレースに参戦したマシンで,トリコールカラーで参戦した初めてのマシンです。

      If the rider could get into the power it would clear up. Track is too small..bigger sproket needed

    Steve Mclaughlin could have won at Daytona on this bike, mechanically the same as the 1970 winner in '73 but Honda refused to listen to him complain about swingarm/tire interference....just like they didn't listen to Jim Odom about exhaust pipes limiting lean on the CR450...just like they put a Honda dealer on the 4th factory bike at Daytona in 1970...

    • @joepkortekaas8813
      @joepkortekaas8813 Před 4 lety

      As far as I know, Honda prepared two CR450s for Bob Hansen, who subsequently sprayed the bikes in his own team colors. Honda was no longer involved, so they can't be blamed for not listening - in my view it would have been up to Hansen to do something about the ground clearance.

    • @caribman10
      @caribman10 Před 3 lety

      @@joepkortekaas8813 Hansen was specifically instructed by on-site Honda personnel NOT to in any way modify the CR450 exhaust systems. Seems they didn't think the "American" would need to lean it over that far. Jimmy Odom would've won the Junior race, except he grounded an exhaust pipe and high-sided. You can look it up in contemporary accounts. As for "not involved", see first sentence.

      @joepkortekaas8813 Před 3 lety

      @@caribman10 Well, I certainly didn't know that about Honda's instructions, thanks for the information!. I knew that Odom high-sided while leading. Honda must have learned something from it, because I have on one of my CB450 based classic racers an original Honda exhaust system, with plenty of ground clearance!

      By the way, I mentioned the fight between Jim Odom and Walt Fulton in my book "Honda's Four-Stroke Race History 1954 ~ 1981".
