    I went to a raps vs celtics game this year. Something interesting I noticed about mazulla is his time out methodology. Most coaches call a time out and players huddle around the bench and coach delivered the message. Mazulla let’s the guys go to the bench and sit for exactly half the timeout while him and his staff go underneath the basket and talk among themselves. I could see his staff pitching ideas at him and he’s bouncing them off and talking to them too. Then halfway through they approach the bench and Mazulla draws out the play. He’s just An amazing coach as well. Ime wore his heart in his sleeve and was emotional which helped the Celtics too but Joe is a straight faced killer, strictly business. Oh and boston is winning the chip this year you can book it. That team is a well oiled machine.

    Coach Mazzulla is doing an amazing job. Seems like he has figured out their offensive issues this year, especially when we would see them become stagnant in stretches of games in the playoff’s last year. I think part of it is because he probably has better schemes and play calls, but also, one thing I noticed is that when there offense stagnates in a game, Mazzulla calls a timeout right away to stop the bleeding. Udoka, as great as he is, would just let the team play through the stagnation and would see if they would figure it out, similar to what Doc Rivers does, but with a young team like the Celtics, I think it’s better to call a timeout immediately to recollect all the guys, get them refocused, and lessen any panic from settling in.

    • @Jtvs017
      @Jtvs017 Před rokem +7

      To be fair, we have to make a clear distinction between Ime Udoka (calling time-outs when the defense is failing) and Joe Mazzulla (calling time-outs when the offense is failing). And lets be honest, we have seen teams going for large runs against the Celtics this season because the team couldn't figure out their defense and Joe Mazzulla refused to call a time-out. Honestly, I couldn't be happier about how his first year turned out. But there are some points for improvement. One being the lack of time-outs to sort out the defense. Overall, we can clearly attribute the increased off-ball screens, increased ball movement and creative offense to Joe Mazzulla's input this season.

    The Celtics were a good team last year R Williams was just injured in the finals. Tatum and Brown has sharpened their weaknesses and still feel the pain of losing last year. With the addition of Brogdon running the 2nd unit the Celtics have been able to maintain leads. Pritchard and White have become productive in clutch situations this year. Manzulla unorthodox style keep the team calm and steadfast. Manzulla is not influenced or shaking by the media disapproval of his timeout strategy. Mike Brown could get COTY. The Kings haven't been in the playoffs in 16 years, and they have been above 6 plays most of the season. The kings has 2 or 3 coaches last year. I really hope Coach Mazzulla wins COTY because the Celtics have had this odd "curse" of consistently good coaches over the last decade and for some reason that keeps hurting the coach's chance of winning the award. Stevens should've won at least one COTY with all that he did with multiple teams that played far above their talent level and made multiple ECF appearances. Udoka made the greatest mid season turn around in NBA history statistically and still didn't win the award. Now Mazzulla inherits an already good team but has made them even better, has beaten every top team in the league so far, and has held the #1 record all year, yet because they made the finals last year, he might not win the award even though this team could beat last year's Celtics into the ground in a series if we're being honest.

    It must also be noted that Mazzulla only had his starting 5 fully healthy for two games in the season so far. When Rob Williams was out, Coach Joe turned the Celtics into a historical offensive juggernaut. Now, the C's still leads the league in net rating and is the only team in the top 5 in both offense and defense. If Joe figure out his rotations, the C's can reach another level. The only weakness I see in this team is the shaky mental toughness (losing to bad teams like the Magic, that embarrassing loss to the Thunder).

    What continues to drive me and a number of other fans nuts is the timeout hoarding/letting the team "play through" the doldrums. I understand the idea in principle, but when the runs go 9, 11, 15 points before he finally stops the action, it's Infuriating. And I think it is a flaw that WILL burn them in the playoffs. I would like to counter with, this tactic is to prepare for the playoffs in the first place. Mazzulla is not going to let these runs happen in playoff time but the thought process is that if he does let it happen in the regular season and the players figure out how to get out of the ruts themselves, then it's less likely to happen in the postseason and he can save them for crucial situations.

    Same system. Better personnel. More experience with the system. Mazzulla has not proven he can make adjustments. He continues to let the players "work through" problems rather then calling necessary time outs. Has not shown he has go to plays after time outs. He has admitted to using Brad Steven's time out plays. He is a middling coach in this league. And as a Celtics bleed Green fanatic I know it'll caught up to us in the playoffs and it makes me cringe to listen to this conversation as much as it was embarrassing that Mazzulla was an Allstar head coach in his first season in the role he is still clearly learning to perform.

  • @makgeoff
    @makgeoff Před rokem

    Udoka did positive things but he was no where near the tactician Stevens & Mazulla are, as evident with his rare brilliant ATO plays. So I see Mazulla as a blessing that actually improves the team whereas if Udoka stayed would have been bad as he was the one who went with the Js to orchestrate offense everytime without any adjustments made.
    If it wasn't the choke of JB & Scary Terry in 2017 in G7 ECF, & Ainge's desperate attempt to play toxic Kyrie in 2018-19 to try get more trade value back, that screwed chemistry, Stevens might have gone to the finals and won.
    I don't think Mazulla would care about these COY accolades (he's disciple of Stevens). He just wants to win. COY does not = real good coaching unless they win in the playoffs with a weak team, which Stevens did. And he doesn't care about such accolades.

      @supascrape2916 Před rokem

      Baseless comment. There is a reason Mazzulla was his assistant and the Celts went to the finals in his first year. If not for their own lack of experience, they'd be champions today. Just say you don't like Udoka, because that's not a basketball take.

    Respectfully, I think you're giving Mazzulla far too much credit. The celtics have been on an upward trajectory since midway through last season. There are a lot of contributing factors to that, but you can't overlook what Ime Udoka was able to do there. Credit to Joe, he's kept the train moving. But this is the play Udoka brought to Boston. As his former assistant, Mazulla is just staying the course.

      The Thunder are losing close games when they do lose and their roster isn't fully fleshed out yet and developed. The Thunder are going to be a huge problem in 2-3 years, and will be going to the playoffs next year. They could take a 2/3 seed to 6 games as it stands right now.

    God doesn’t want anybody in hell because He loves us, but you must understand why we deserve hell and why those who refuse to live under His authority will go there. He gave us the law (Ten Commandments) not to make us righteous, but rather to show us our sin (Romans 3:20). We’re not sinners because we sin, but rather we sin because we’re sinners. Sin is the nature of our flesh that we are born with due to the sin of Adam in the garden. For someone to be justified before God they have to be sinless. We’ve all sinned (Romans 3:23), and the the law demands death for those who sin (Romans 6:23). God is righteous, so He must punish our sin, which is what He did through His Son Jesus Christ on the cross. Jesus is Holy and sinless, yet He received our sin when He died on the cross, so that we can be righteous before God (2 Corinthians 5:21). When He died on the cross, He said “It is finished” (John 19:30), which means He paid the full price for all of your sins (past, present, and future) to be forgiven. He was buried and rose again from the dead. God will forgive anybody who puts their full trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. We aren’t saved based on our good deeds, but only by the grace of God (Ephesians 2:8-9). His precious blood that He shed is the only reason why we can be forgiven of our sins (Hebrews 9:22). If you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised Him from the dead, then you’ll be saved (Romans 10:9). You are born-again with the Spirit of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17), and are not only legally justified before God, but also are accredited His righteous (Romans 4:24). Believers live for Christ now, so get to know Him through His Word. I recommend reading the book of Romans and the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John), and watching Pastor Joseph Prince’s online sermons!
