    My husband passed away in sept. I found coffee dying paper helped me forget things. I dyed around 3,000 sheets of paper from sept to March. So if I ever get my Etsy store up and running I will have plenty of paper to sell

      Oh Cindy, so very very sorry for your loss. We are here to offer you love & support as well as inspiration. Journalling is amazing therapy. Love to see your journals because you must be making a few with all that lovely coffee dyed paper you have now. Have you tried using avocado to dye your papers. I tried it recently for the first time and the pink it gave was so pretty. Love & hugs, C xx

    It's so much fun to go through the papers after they're done. Idea for you. Squish about 5 blueberries in about a cup of water and bring to a boil and cool. It makes the lovliest blue paper. Love the sage green. I mix instant coffee, tea and vanilla for my paper. I have a box of things I've collected waiting to dye but haven't had the time to get it all done. Do you know if the fabrics are colorfast? Oh if you ever see the Easter egg dyes on clearance they're really fun and inexpensive. I found some gorgeous natural Easter egg dyes and I paid about fifty cents for it. But these are just beautiful and inspiring me to get it done! Thank you!

    Pretty! A couple of weeks ago I discovered I'd bought (and forgot about) those little Easter egg tablets, so I put one color each into a spray bottle with hot water, shook it up, sprayed a plastic lid and then dabbed my paper onto the splotches. I ended up with some beautiful spring-colored paper with fun splotchy patterns of color. The egg-dye pink is definitely a bright pink, but combined with some sprays of yellow or orange turned the paper a lovely pastel peach that's very vintage looking but still hints at springtime. I've fallen in love with the pink myself (such a cheerful color, a great mood brightener) and have found myself making a boatload of pink&cream ephemera. I also discovered that those bright colors applied to *cream* paper creates some lovely faded colors. I'm going to use up the rest of the egg dye water on some book pages if the sun comes out later today.

    I haven't tried dyeing with instant coffee or with food coloring. I noticed that I still have a couple of pieces of your grandmother's lace curtains that I am hoarding. I don't iron my papers and just stack them in a spot where they are pressed in a tight spot. I have 11 x 14 papers that I dye that I bought from a thrift store. I just started dyeing some grungy looking paper by spraying a blue color on top of the wet paper and making puddles of the coffee and blue together. I still keep giving away my papers and I still have so much. The weather has been so hot that I could make more. The green is my favorite of your paper❤

    • @shabbydabbydoodah
      @shabbydabbydoodah  Před 4 lety

      What a fantastic time saver to not need to iron your papers 🙃 . Your coffee and puddles of blue sounds lovely. Oh yes, do some more whilst the weather is hot and they will dry quickly. I love the green also, although I just love the look of the entire bunch piled up, it looks sooooo pretty, it was definitely a fun time. You’re always giving things away, I am actually surprised that you have anything left! 🤭🤗😉 x

    Do you chuck out the leftover dye waters or save them to reuse?

    Those are gorgeous, did you mix some to get the green or was it a cake icing type of food coloring?

    • @shabbydabbydoodah
      @shabbydabbydoodah  Před 4 lety

      No, it was the green food colour. I did add coffee though to tone it down x

    hi! do you mix the food coloring and coffee right at the start of making the dye?

    • @shabbydabbydoodah
      @shabbydabbydoodah  Před 4 lety

      Just poured coffee granules into my big lasagna dish, straight into the boiling water. The food colour is more like a gel, so I just added it with a knife and stirred it around. I added the food colour first, and then slowly added the coffee as I felt it needed it x

    Can you explain how you did this?? Did you mix the coffee and dye in the same container then add paper or dip the paper in separate containers ??

    • @shabbydabbydoodah
      @shabbydabbydoodah  Před 4 lety

      I mixed it all in the same tray, a large lasagna dish, and then just dunked the papers one at a time x
