    Hey, friends! I am blown away and so incredibly thankful for all your comments! I want to address *TWO* *IMPORTANT* *THINGS* 1) *Safety* *first!* Always make sure that there is a proper *AIR* *FLOW* to the back side of your box fan. My box fan has *legs* which is why it does not lay flat on the floor (you can see in the video that it is tilted forward). The legs prevent it from sitting flush to the floor. If your fan is completely flat, then you would need to *raise* the fan from the floor to ensure the proper *air* *flow* . You could place it on two stacks of books or two boxes or place it between two chairs. I also have this information noted in the *Video* *Description* . As always, please exercise common sense and caution, and ensure that you use your household items properly and in a safe manner. *Please* *refer* *to* *your* *item's* *manual* if you have any doubts or questions. *Please* *do* *not* *leave* *your* *electric* *items* *unattended* 2) You don’t necessarily need to have a box fan for this project! If you have one of the smaller table-top or a clip-on fans - those will work too! It will take a bit longer to dry, but you will still avoid using the oven! 😉
    I absolutely LOVE it that we are exchanging coffee dying tips in the comments section, so that we all can share our favorite techniques and learn from each other! I love hearing your ideas, so please KEEP THEM COMING! Have an amazing day and Happy crafting!! 🤗 ☕💖

    Excellent idea with the box fan. What I do sometimes with a stack of paper is to put my stencils between each sheet (or every other) during the drying process. That way, when they’re all dry, the stencils are already done….!!!!!
    If you want to amp it up a bit, use your spray ink lightly on the stencils once you’ve laid them down and it’s even more evident

    I let my stack dry by turning it once every few hours. It takes a couple seconds here and there. Also, I get designs on most pages by using stencils and a spray bottle with coffee in it. Just lay the paper down then the stencil. Spray it. Lay another piece of paper down then gently rub it. Peel the layers apart to get 2 prints. Then make a stack.

    (j'ai fait traduire mon message écrit précédement ) . Good evening from the South of France. Thank you for this well explained method. I share with you another method for lazy people. You take a plastic tray with edges, large enough for A4 format. (You can protect your tray with cling film). You put coffee in this tray. You place your leaves (new or used or pieces, leftover cuttings) on the coffee you try to put them in a staggered manner and not one on top of the other well aligned. You add coffee on top of your leaves every 5 to 6 leaves. You move your tray so that all the leaves are soaked; In short, you do this with the number of leaves you want to make or the quantity of coffee you have. Between each sheet you can put stencils, objects, plant leaves, screws, grids, various shapes which will leave imprints (this avoids making decorations afterwards with ink...saving time) you leave all the leaves in the tray optionally you can turn over the first leaves to put them last (the first will be the last so all the leaves will have coffee. let the whole thing rest according to the density of coffee shade that you want. No risk for the leaves will not degrade...even if they are "glued" together. Do not touch them. When they are dry they will separate. If there is coffee left in your tray after letting it "rest for the color desired 10 minutes or less or more "you empty the surplus leaving the sheets in the tray. you leave the whole (sheet and stencil) to dry (outside if the weather permits) near a radiator, or fireplace in winter. In total you will need 10 minutes maximum for preparation. No need for a brush. No need for ink. When your leaves are dry they will have a pretty, more vintage edge. some will have spots, bubbles, some will look "burned". (Be careful with stencils, the sheets will take longer to dry since the stencils are plastic)
    I use this method in the evening before going to bed in winter near the radiator heating and the next day I discover the magic. .It only takes up the space on your tray; .coffee can be replaced by green or black tea, colored crepe papers soaked in water, curry, beetroot, ivy, etc. etc. HAVE FUN . Looking forward to sharing. Sylvie B

      Thank you so much for watching and for sharing your wonderful technique, Sylvie! I'm intrigued! I especially like the idea of using crepe paper for colors and leaves for imprints. I want to try this. How long does it take for this paper to dry indoors? Are we talking overnight or does it take days? Thank you! 😊

      @@chasingpaper2022 for crepe paper, infuse pieces in a pot with water; the water will color. this water you put it in the tray as for the coffee tincture; same technique; you can let the white sheets take the color that suits you or even mix the colors. Drain excess water from the tray; leave the leaves in the tray to dry; near a fireplace or outdoor radiator; the more leaves there are, the longer the time will be; in front of a radiator in less than an hour it's dry for (5 to 6 sheets without doing anything) we have pretty colors; it's like doing "alchemy"; I hope i was clear ; You can use your method with crepe paper; remember to put stencils in between during the "coloring" you will have pretty patterns. good discovery; best wishes . Coffee/tea dying paper is something I dislike doing so much, that I’ve been buying it instead. It took hours of standing and hours of paper covering every surface of my kitchen while drying. Obviously my technique was all wrong. Using the fan in this way is brilliant, and stacking the papers is so much better than laying individual sheets everywhere for 12 hours. Thank you! I can definitely do this method. 😊 ( new subbie!)

    I did this today!! I have so many lovely dyed papers now. I did use a strong tea solution because I prefer the scent more than coffee. Did a few stencils while drying also. Most of them came out great. I am blessed to have our whole basement as my creative space. So once my papers were about half dry using the box fan, I did spread them out to dry. I also made a few blue tinted pages. Tip for that: reinkers mixed in water work better than acylic paint. Thank you for this game changing video!

    This is THE best "coffee stain"/hack tutorial I have ever seen...and I've watched a LOT.😁
    I have a disability w/chronic pain. Coffee & tea staining is such a chore. But it's a "must have". I have been using the "paint on" technique. But just stacking them on top of layers of paper towels in a large baking sheet. I have to monitor them, flipping the stacks, exposing the sheets in the middle, rearranging them, on & on...for days.😳
    I don't have a box fan. But I do have several drying racks that stack...and a standing fan. The inks & stencils as well!🤗
    Ty so much!!💗💗💗

    I do very similar. I have a clothes drying rack with several drying bars on top, so I place my box fan face down on it to dry everything. I also use the cooling racks balanced across the lower beams to stack the papers on. If you only need a few, you can drape them individually over the bars, and they dry in only a few minutes! I did that when I dyed with Kool-Aid to make colorful journal pages.😁

    I also use a fan and racks because I only have the top of my washing machine to dry paper on. I don't stack mine and I don't use a box fan though. I lay 4 single sheets (2 on each rack), usually with a stencil on top of each and then I point my little desk fan right on them. All four sheets will be dry in about 10 minutes and then I dip 4 more sheets in coffee, cover with a stencil and put them on the rack in front of the fan. My washer is in the kitchen and so is my crafting area so it's easy enough to keep an eye on the paper's progress and to make more when a batch drys. I use a hair straightener or my laminating machine (with no plastic pouch) to iron my paper. I'm anxious to try stacking my papers like you do to see if it is faster than my method. Thank you for taking the time to make this video and happy crafting!

That’s awesome!! 🫶 I sure did!! 😃 I coffee dyed 22 pieces of printer paper and some envelopes last night, only I decided to use the oven because it’s too cold to use a box fan since our gas heater broke. I saw another video where you can set the oven on bake first and then switch to confection oven and it dried pretty fast. I used your method of using a baking drying rack and it was perfect!! I didn’t put the envelopes in the oven since they contain glue and I don’t know about that.
      Right now I’m food coloring paper cause as I was using the coffee dye I thought…food coloring? 🤔 I used to bake and decorate cakes so I have a bunch of different types of beautiful icing coloring on hand, like Duff (Jewel Colors) Electric blue, Sapphire, and Gold. 💛

    These papers are beautiful and so fast!
    I've got a ton of white paper that needs coffee dying and I've been putting it off forever! It's such a chore to do!
    The only thing I would say to be careful with is to make sure they really aren't dripping because of putting them over an electric fan!!! 🤯
    I am in England and our electric is 240v not 100v like yours, so I definitely need to be careful with the wet + electric... however as you were drying it gave me an idea. I'm going to place another drying rack on top of the stack, and use clamp grips to hold them together.
    Actually I'm going to put a row of cable ties along one long edge, to create a hinge between the two racks. Leave them a tiny bit loose to allow for the thickness of the paper stack. Then I can close them together like a wire book cover, to sandwich the paper stack inside the two racks, and just clamp one side shut.
    That way I can prop my racks up vertically, and use my fan in it's normal, safer, upright position. I can flip the racks around the other way halfway through. No risk of drips on my fan! 😁
    Thank you for sharing, that's made me feel way less intimidated by the coffee dying paper process!
    I'm looking forward to it now actually! 😘😘😘

    • @chasingpaper2022
      @chasingpaper2022  Před 7 měsíci +2

      Thank you so much for watching and for your comment! With my process, there is virtually no dripping, because the stacks on the racks are not that wet (dry papers in between the wet ones soak up all the extra coffee). That being said, I absolutely LOVE your idea of sandwiching the papers between two racks and propping them up vertically! It's great for those who don't have a box fan! Thank you for sharing a great tip! 🤗👍💕☕

    • @chasingpaper2022
      @chasingpaper2022  Před 7 měsíci +2

      Thanks, Anita! So glad you feel inspired to give this a try! Just wanted to mention that you don’t necessarily have to have a box fan! If you have one of the smaller tabletop or a clip-on fans, it will work too! Just place your fan on the table facing up and prop your cooling rack on two stacks of books over the fan. It will take a bit longer to dry, but will still work. If you don’t have any fan, you can still give this method a try, but I would work with smaller stacks of paper, rearrange papers a few times more, and I’d use a hair dryer from the top, just to help to speed up your drying process. Happy crafting! 🤗 ☕️💕

    Love the idea of using a fan to dry the papers, faster than the oven for sure. My only hesitation is the idea of putting wet papers over an electrical device. I understand that you wiped the bottom before moving it to the fan but the stack would still be wet and have water dripping. Might try it with the fan blowing on the pages instead. Either way thank you for sharing this tip as it is always good to have multiple ideas.

    • @chasingpaper2022
      @chasingpaper2022  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Thank you so much! I understand your concern. If there was any dripping, I would never place the rack over the fan. However, the paper is not soaking wet, because we don’t dip nor soak our paper in coffee, but only “paint” *every* *other* *page* .Any extra coffee gets soaked up by the dry pages in between. Then we also wipe the bottom of the rack to catch the drops coming from the first couple of layers. My fan is white, and I never found any coffee drops on it 🙂 Of course, you can use the fan blowing on the pages instead. I just wanted to explain the process again to address your concern 😊👍
