My favorite paint pallette for decades - a plain white corelle plate. Oil paint will clean off easily and acrylics can dry completely and a quick soak in warm water only will allow the paint to just peel off.
Great tip!
Video using hand sanitizer to clean dried paint brushes is the best I've heard!
It really is!
And people were putting this on their hands multiple times a day...
You can also use it to clean up paint spilled on carpet--that is, assuming you've spilled one of the 2 oz bottles of decorative paint. I know this because my dog got into my paints and took a burnt orange bottle downstairs to our pale grey carpet and bit down on it squirting a burnt orange puddle onto the carpet. I used paper towels to get up as much paint as I could and then hit it with lots of hand sanitizer, wiping it with more paper towels and repeating until I got it all out, then cold water to remove the sanitizer. Yes, you have to be careful because it might lighten the color of the carpet but my thought was it couldn't be worse than a puddle of burnt orange. It also works on clothing if you clean it up while still wet. (we decorative painters find paint in the oddest places--shirt fronts, laps, elbows, hair).
I knew some of these but not other ones. Lol, retaining it now is a whole different story đ. Thank you đ
Dito.

said the same thing... i guess we just have to watch it once a month!!
You can save it in your favourites folder â€ïž
Never leave your paint brushes standing in water. It ruins them.
Yes! I cringed when I saw that. It's fine if you don't care much about your brushes.
I wish the makers of e6000 would come up with a better packaging of their product.
@@KMF3 if you buy the smaller three in a package you wonât have that problem. So much easier to work with.
I agree with the other commenter, I started buying the smaller tubes instead of the big ones, this way if it does happen you don't lose as much product.
I had a plastic tube of adhesive OPEN on the seam.
I SIMPLY DUCT TAPED the seam, THEN PVC electrical taped that DUCT TAPE.
And I will NOT buy that big tube size AGAIN!
ALSO, to help roll up tubes, I have made a 12Ă12 mm wood with a sawn slit in it, SLIDE that on the tubes end, as soon as you have squeezed out some product.
On ONE END of that wood, I glued a handle, and I "crank" the product out of the tube, NEVER leaving the tube partially filled, FROM the very beginning.
Hope that helps,
philip from the Great Pacific NorthWET Oregon Division USA
Does it need packaging? E6000 is in my veins...lol.
Been using it since 80's
â@madsighntist14 have you tried a metal toothpaste key? Works GREAT!
No to the "store and clean your brushes" in the parmesan container, never soak your brushes in water, the water will get inside the ferule and destroy the bonding agent that keeps your bristles in place, destroying your brushes.
I was wondering if someone was going to catch that. If you have several brushes that you are cleaning at the same time, that's a nice little bathtub for them, so to speak, but you are correct, never store them like that. The same goes for storing them brush up before they are dry. đ
I think she means when your actively painting. Not for storage.
I think she means when your actively painting, Not storing them!
As soon as I saw that "tip" my eyes shot open as I yelled NOOOOOOOO! Never, Ever, Never leave your brushes in water--wash them, squeeze the water out of the bristles, and position them brush side DOWN while they dry. It's good to take a dry brush and wet it really well and towel-pat it prior to painting with it, just never leave a brush soaking in water.
I use those containers to store my glue sticks.
Paint palettes - plastic bottles such as soda are perfect for throw away palettes because they have 4 or 5 ready-made compartments at the bottom. Just cut the bottoms off and recycle the rest. Also those plastic lids - let the paint dry on the lid and it will peel off in a single piece. If the pieces are large enough or the paint is running together, you can cut into a shape and use it as "fake leather" adornments in your junk journal or other craft.
You can also use those egg cartons made of foam material.
Some great tips thank you so much for sharing
For paint palettes, you can use a pill reminder too..
I used wallpaper to cover my little cut up tubes for cords, to make them pretty. It also helped them last longer. I had one for years before it gave up the ghost. The little tubes work so well.
Great idea
That dry erase marker hack = đ€Ż
I normally use hand sanitizer because it tends to dissolve the alcohol-based ink of a sharpie, but that can damage the dry erase board over time.
Totally just tested it successfully. I am amazed!
Yahoo!!
Did you know the parmesan lid also fits perfectly on a mason jar?
Yes!!!
đźđâ€
Great
Great hacks! Thanks for sharing!
TY for reminder
An old teacherâs hack for removing permanent marker is to keep a can of cheap hairspray on hand. Cleans up with a soft cloth. Works on white boards, desks, even SKIN!
Great tip!
If you get ink on clothes, hair spray helps dissolve it.
I've heard that hair spray dissolves ballpoint pen ink.
I cleaned ink from a friend's nice blouse with hairspray
Havks
Another option for the forgotten paintbrush, Murphy's Oil Soap. I've used it for years to clean brushes. I leave just a little in the brush after cleaning and it will condition the brush and keep it soft.
Great tip
Great hacks and tips, I am 70 but it's never too late to learn. I love your accent, it's like music to my old Irish ears.
Thanks for watching! So glad your enjoying
The glue stick hack was so simple yet ingenious!!!
Thanks for making one of my pet peeves disappear! â€
Excellent
How absolutely refreshing to see the word "hack" used accurately! These are genuine, helpful, GENIUS tips and tricks! Thank you!! â€
You're so welcome!
@@OurUpcycledLife Well, except the first one isn't really a "hack". The blade was snapped off using the tool the correct way the tool was intended to be used.
Pet words I hate: 'hack' - tip and 'reach out'- contact. đ
Tip for the E6000...toothpaste tub roller
Yep great tip
Yes, thatâs what I DO!!!!
Oh my gosh!!! Thank you so much for the many hacks. I donât know how many paint brushes I have thrown away. I am sitting here asking myself why I didnât think of that. Thanks for the many ideasâŠ
Glad you enjoyed
Never knew about how to remove the worn section of a craft knife!! Had to pause your video while I immediately took off the old portion of all my craft knives. Great hack as were all the other 35! Thanks!
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed.
so many great hacks... now I just have to remember all of them. for the stencil hack. I use a binder with clear sleeves and put them in each pocket with colored paper then you can flip thru to find the one you want. I wish I could of hit like --- 36 times!!1
Thatâs a great hack thank you so much for sharing
I'm only 4 minutes into your video and have already been blown away.
Snapped off the dull tips of my exacto blades. Ready to do more. Loved the bread tabs on my tape idea!! How do you come up with all these ideas!!
Fantastic!
Did not know about the end of your razor knife having a slot to help you break off the end of the used blade. TFS!
Right!! Nice hack â€ïž
Everyone really needs to know these! Love the Parmesan container oneđthanks and the socks
The best!
Thank you for these great hacks!â€â€â€. I especially liked the painting balls in a jarđ
Glad you like them!
Wonderful hacks. Many blew my mind. I really liked the one taking the bread thing for your packing tape or any tape.
Thanks so much for these great hacks.
â„ïžđđđ
You are so welcome!
I usually fold the corner of the tape over but that wastes it.... luv the plastic tie idea
Glad you enjoyed
I learned this ages ago, it's brilliant.
You had several great hacks I hadnât seen before - and I love hacks! Thank you!
Excellent!!
I learned a few things from thisđ. Also, you can soak the peeled off tag with the packing tape in hot water, rub the paper off, and the words stay put. That can be used as a sticker and used, say in journal making â€.
Sure can!!
I had been watching you for years and one day you mentioned this would be great for your junk journaling, I googled what is JJ . That was three years ago and I obsessed with it, I craft every day and the ideas still keep coming. I want to say thanks Deirdre for changing my life.â€ïž
Thank you, I knew all but the last one but, it's good to remember hacks.
@cheryldolan5555 What a great compliment.
Aww that is so sweet! I am so glad to inspire â€ïž plus junk journaling is so fun xo
Evéry hack a gem! I'm 73 and it does help to be reminded - thanks so much!
You're welcome!
I didnât want this to stop! Some fantastic ideas. The cardboard roll trick for keeping cables neat is brilliant and, of course they can be decorated or labelled up đđ»đđ»đđ»
Glad it was helpful!
Usually hacks are silly and Iâd never go to the trouble.,âŠbut all yourâs were very helpful ideas!! I will incorporate a lot of them in projects. Loved the paper towel center for cord organization!!!
Thank you so much for watching. Glad you enjoyed.
That lint roller holding your project is genius!!đź
Glad you enjoyed
Excellent video! My favorites are the way to paint wooden beads quickly in a jar and the tube cord keepers . Thanks!!
Awesome! Thank you!
I use hand sanitizer to clean my scissors as well. I generally don't have alcohol on hand and since its made with it, it works the same.
Yep sure does
Oh my Gosh. Hack #2 don't do it. Never store your paint brushes, brush side down. Clean them first and then store them in this ingenious container brush side up.
Agreed! I made the mistake of doing this and when I wanted to paint again, the brush and metal pieces slipped right off the handle! I also wanted to add a tip I've found throughout the years, if you add a bit of Murphys oil soap (cleaner made for hardwood floors) to your brush cleaning water before storage, your brushes will stay nicely conditioned and soft! I've also had success using that method to restore old crusty brushes that have been forgotten, unwashed and left for dead lmfao good luck!
I use my ruler for work ALOT and that rubber band idea is such a game changer. IDK why I didn't think of it so TY!
Thank you for all the very helpful hacks. Great time saving ideas.
Glad you enjoyed
Thank you -- THANK YOU, for these hacks, Deirdre!!! I found the rescuing of paint brushes the most valuable Love the parmesan cheese canister hack.
Glad you enjoyed
Love them all! Thanks for sharing such good ideas! I really needed the hand sanitizer for my paint brush!
Glad you enjoyed
All of your hacks are genius. Iâm so glad I stumbled across this video. Thank you.
You are so welcome!
Lots I already use but wonderful to now have many more added to my repertoire. Thanks for sharing!
You're very welcome!
Thank you for these hacks...the Parmasean cheese container hack is brilliant!
You are so welcome!
Heating up the glue stick to keep it from falling out of the glue gun! Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed
Thank you so much for sharing this! Oh my gosh, nr. 1 is my favorite. I never even notice that back part of a craft knife can come off and I'm always so afraid of that flying piece. The masking tape to cover the broken off part, is just as clever!
I m running to my craft room to see this I also did not know that.
Thank you so much for watching. Glad you enjoyed.
They're all my favorite!
Glad you enjoyed
YESSS!!! Simple, but so clever & useful! Ty
You're so welcome!
I already use the bread tie on the packing tape, I love it! I love the recycled tag idea, the cool scissors going to look for them.
You are so welcome!
The scissors look like those sold by Creative Memories consultants a few years ago. I know, I still have mine!
I am loving these informative hacks; they're so useful. TFS!
Thanks so much for watching. Glad youâre enjoying.
Loved diy #11.
Whitewashing the beads in a glass jar with watered down acrylic paint instead of trying to paint them individually. Great idea and time saver.
Great tip!
So many great ideas. Thanks for the great hacks. Loved them all!
You are so welcome!
I really like the gift tubes! Im going to do that. They're great for all kinds of small gifts.
I think so too!
Thank you for sharing some great ideas! I would caution you about the paintbrushes left in water, in any jar, especially high quality brushes. Leaving them in a jar will bend the tips; leaving them in water may loosen the ferrule and/or ruin the wood and paint - either of these things will ruin your brushes. I use The Masters brush cleaner to clean my brushes, rinse them and put a little more of The Masters in the brush, shape the tip and lie it flat to dry. The Masters is a brush preserver as well as a cleaner. Always let brushes dry flat or hanging down - you donât want water staying in the ferrule.
Good tips thanks
Acetone nail polish remover works great for removing paint from my paint brushes
Great tip!
Thanks for the dental floss idea! I have a dental floss that is sooo thick it doesn't do its job. I'm sure I can use it now in my crafting!!
You are so welcome!
Love the elastic band on the ruler trick
Do same thing on your kitchen tongs. I take my SS tongs and wrap rubber bands around the tips. No more slipping when trying to grasp ovenware or baking sheets. I prefer that to silicone tipped ones!

If sanitizer will resolve the paint, what is it doing to our skin ?? WOW
I wouldnât touch that poison let alone put it on my hands
Found out from an artist (painter)Just that Old English liquid wood polish Will take out the paint And condition your brushes. Just let brushes soak and walaa
The sanitizer webyse at work is predominantly alcohol...
â VoĂla đș
â@@begoodbebetterbeblessedix3766So will Murphy's oil soap. They both work wonders. Rubbing alcohol will get acrylic paint out like a charm. Hope that helps. đ
Unlike most hacks that are not very useful...these are legit! Thanks for sharing!
Glad you like them!
Great hacks!! Thank you for sharing your super easy ideas. My favorites were rescuing the paint brush with hand sanitizeusing the jar to cover the beads with paint in the jar and filling the holes in wood with sawdust and school glue. However, I love all of your hacks, please keep them coming!!!
Glad you enjoyed
Thank you! The e6000 container was making Mr crazy!!!!
You're welcome!
Sooo many great hacks! I especially love the idea for whitewashing beads and for containing cords. Nail polish for stiffening thread and hacks for sharpening scissors! Thanks for this awesome video!!!
You are so welcome!
My favorite is the use of the plastic tabs to mark the beginning of the tape roll. That one's ingenious!!
I usually just fold over the end of the tape about one eighth of an inch so I can find the end the next time, tear off the folded end, use what I need, then make a new fold. All in all, I waste very little tape and I can always, immediately find the end. đ
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed.
Great!! Ideas and helpful!đâ€
Excellent
Easily one of the best craft/DIY hacks I've ever seen. GREAT! Thanks!
Excellent! Glad you enjoyed
The scissor hack is so helpful. I struggle with gummy dull scissors all the time. Combing the brush bristles is so genius too. đâ€â€đ Thank you for sharing these hacks.
You are so welcome!
I'm NOT a crafter, but I enjoyed listening to you!
Thanks for watching
Omg! I absolutely loved this video! I have been following your content since long. Love how you upcycle even a tiny strip of tape! All 36 hacks are my favesâ€
So glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching.
đ±đ±đ±THANK YOU FOR THESE!!! đ€©đ€©đđ I knew a few of them but not most!!! Definitely knew about the dry erase marker taking off the sharpie because Iâm a teacher and make that mistake aaaalll the time!!đ€Šđ»ââïžđ€Ł
You are so welcome!
Cleaning the brush was my favorite. I recently saw that I my brush with Modge Podge was left out overnight and hardened so badly. Not a single bend to it. I figured the hot heat from my hair dryer should melt the glue, it did, but took a while. The hardest area is the clumping near the area connected to the handle. I ran a razor through it vertically and horizontally to help loosen it. I lost some fibers but it did help. Soaking it in boiling water didnât help at all. So now Iâll try the sanitizer after the heat and see how that works. Great tip.
This should work!!
If it doesn't, try some Murphy's oil soap. It works on acrylic. Also,if the comb is too wide try one of those small wire brushes. I also paint houses, and this works well on my large brushes. Good luck!
Very refreshing to see all brand new hacks. Great job!
Glad you enjoyed
I absolutely love your tips. Thank you for sharing!
You are so welcome!
Wow! Thanks for sharing these tips. So many new ones to me. I've always used paper rolls for my cords. My fave was the whiteboard.
You are so welcome!
I love all of these. You have really inspired me with your channel to upcycle instead of sending things to the landfill.
I'm so glad!
I always love your vlogs. This is so Informative , thank you!
Your welcome
Superb ! Thanks a ton . I use some of them but in a slightly different way. Colouring the beads and using the glitter tape were super cool.
Most welcome đ
Re Hack 15: you can also cut up milk cartons and they stack flat in your drawers until you need them. They can be washed and reused! đ Iâm talking about the waxed milk cartons
Great tip!
As an artist... NEVER leave your paint brushes in water! Ever! I do, however, use jars to store my bushes, but NEVER brush ends down! Store brushes up! Keep them clean. Dawn and hot water and scrub them on a drain screen. It works great! Hand sanitizer is good to put in the palm of your hand and after you pinch wipe your brush in a paper towel, scrub it into the palm of your hand (ONLY IF YOU USE ACRYLICS!) Then pinch wipe whem into the paper towel again. Never handle oil paints. They are toxic!
Super! Loved this. The tag was my fave.
Yay! Thank you!
Did you know that those parmesan cheese lids fit a standard mason jar?
Also, if you use spaghetti sauce in jars, switch to Classico. Their jars can be used as mason jars.
Yes great tip!
The whitewash jar. Very clever idea
Some of these I have already found very useful. Iâm eager to try some of the other ones out. Thank you for sharing.
Glad you like them!
Nice. But you should put what ever you cutting yo the edge of the paper or fabric, saving it and only making two cuts. Most I knew already. The glue line with the ruler is new. You can also glitter on a sheet of paper, then crese and put back into the container.
Glad you enjoyed
I love that you got right to it and loved the reminders as well as new ideas. Thx!
You are so welcome!
Thank you for sharing these amazing craft tips â€ïž
You are so welcome!
Thank you for these DIY hacks. I think I will revisit the recycle bin.
Excellent!
Wow what a great video. So many good hacks. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed
I really loved the easier way to paint my beads. Thanks
So simple
And you get a 2-in-1 if you choose a jar which you would have liked to be painted in that color on the inside also :-)
Glad to make it tonight
Wow i never knew the blades had that on the end for this
Right!!
Love them all âŠ.thank youâŁïž
You are so welcome!
Hi after seeing the hack with the Parmesan jar I went into my recycle bin and got out my empty jar .and now using it to soak my brushes. Thanks for sharing â€đ
If you really care about your paint brushes, you will ruin them using that jar and letting them sit there. If it was just for a minute or two you might be alright, but longer than that and youâre taking a chance on putting a permanent bend in an otherwise good brush. It will destroy the bristles. That was the first thing I learned about brush care in art class.
Wonderful!
Love all I especially have trouble with my round projects thank you for these hacks.
Glad you enjoyed
These hacks are all so helpful. Thank you for sharing them . â€
You are so welcome!
Thank you so much for all of the hacks. This is the most useful art and crafts hack video I've ever viewed. I am a new subscribed to your channel now. have a blessed day.
Thanks for subbing! Welcome
You should avoid storing paint brushes in water - the water gets up into the body of the brush and can cause swelling, loss of bristles. Store brushes brush side up so you don't smash the bristles
Comb through brush! Genius
That was amazing! There are a lot of these I didn't know about, so thank you so much!!!
You're so welcome!
Great hacks. Thank you.
Soooo many great ideas I havenât seen, Thanks đ
