Fair enough bro. I know a lot of people will disagree with me but I have no intention of being one of those reactors who says everything is great just be fake. I am going to try a few more songs though and see if it grows on me

You should continue to listen to Lovebites songs. I am rather sure you would get used to Asami's voice and you would eventually feel how powerful her vocals are ,That is what I experienced . It is a pity that you would not be able to share with us the joy and bliss of listening to one of the best metal vocalists in the world.
Her voice just doesn't resonate with me. I will try a few more songs though and hope that it grows on me
Miho Miho Miho! like you say your opinion and valid as such Me I love her vocals they make me cry (in the presentation/delivery of the more emotional stuff) more than most other singers I've heard, She make me cheer at the uplifting parts and always makes me smile.
That is great to hear Dave. Music is all about how it evokes emotion so I am happy that you get so much enjoyment from it.
Asami's voice took me a while to get used to when I first discovered LOVEBITES. About four or five songs in, though, it all clicked and now I can't imagine their music without her. Plus, she's a charismatic, attractive frontwoman who looks like she enjoys performing.
In my opinion, Asami's best vocals are on these songs:

If you want to know what Asami can really do.... you need to check out the live version of "Epilogue".
It's a very emotional ballad song. Asami sings it so beautifully.
She won me over instantly, but I really love her performance on "Epilogue".
Asami's strength is her higher notes, and her ability to belt and sustain in the upper register. On the thrash songs, like this one, where she sings lower and faster her vocals don't sound as good.
As I've said on your first Lovebites reaction, live footage from official releases usually goes through some post-production. That is nothing unique to Lovebites. Band-Maid or any other band do it as well. You can still detect the odd wrong note from Lovebites at times. It's not like they fully clean up their footage. This performance is from Daughters of the Dawn if I'm not mistaken. It was their first big concert dvd/blu-ray and is a bit more raw-sounding compared to Five of a Kind and Heavy Metal Never Dies. But these ladies sound good even in much worse recordings.
Asami really gets to shine in their ballads like Epilogue (extremely emotional song) and Empty Daydream. Or maybe react to The Crusade (the music video) for soaring vocals and a true Iron Maiden feeling. Just make sure to go with the longer video, not the so-called CZcams version. Also I'm sure you have realized it by now, but all Lovebites songs are actually in English.
@Cepho, I agree, Daughters of the Dawn has a rawer sound, but it feels like it's a cheaper production than Five of a Kind, and this one feels cheaper than Heavy Metal Never Dies. It is noticeable the evolution of Lovebites as a band and the quality of the production as well.
I think some people have a hard time accepting the way Asami sings because most of female metal singers always try to sound low-pitched as much as possible. Asami and Su-metal sings like females, not as females pretending sing like a man, and both use their range. That's my opinion.
I am well aware of post-production in live recordings which is why I bought it up in the first place. I got a ton of negative comments regarding this from fans who didn't want to except that this sort of thing happens.
I will try out some of the songs you have suggested and see if her voice grows on me. I would love nothing more than for that to happen
Some people may have an issue with a feminine voice but I definitely don't. One of my favorite artists is Chelsea Wolfe and her voice is otherworldly and 100% feminine. I am going to try a few more songs from Lovebites though and I hope that it clicks with me eventually.
Hello @@freetobewhoibe I think some post-production is unavoidable as it's always possible to have some problems with the recording etc. It happened with some of the great live rock records, in my opinion it's not a big issue as long as they don't disfigure the original. There's a live show from 2018, which doesn't have on youtube, (maybe on bilibili) that came as a bonus on the limited edition of Clockwork Immortality which is recorded right next to the stage, looks like you can touch the girls, which I think is what gives the best sense of a Lovebites live show. And I'm 99% sure that has no production. The band was just starting out, but you can get an idea of what it's looks like live.
@@freetobewhoibe I think the negative comments were mostly because people weren't quite sure how to take your comment. It sounded a bit as if you were doubting their musical abilities.
Asami seems to save most of her power for the choruses. That's kinda the Lovebites M.O.; verse build up, epic chorus, shredding, shredding, more shredding, epic chorus. Maybe check out "Set The World On Fire," "Holy War," "Glory To the World." I dunno, they don't really have any bad songs if you're into the classic thrash/power metal stuff.
I have already checked out "Holy War" and "Set the World on Fire". I love the music side of it but I just can't get into the vocals. I know she has a good voice but it just doesn't resonate with me I'm afraid.

I couldn't get into Asami's voice at first but in the end I got used to it. She is a very good voice.
Try to skip the daughters of the dawn show, it always gets Block in Japan. Try to use the Five of a Kind concert. I recommend you to check Rising.
New to the J-Rock/Metal scene, but being an old IRON MAIDEN fan I personally love Asami's operatic vocal style. The big culture shock for me was her accent, but quickly got used to that. LOVEBITES have become my #1 metal band.
Asami's voice took a little while to grow on me as well haha. Turned off When Destinies Align the first time I watched them before I even got to the mad solos! Knew she wasn't BAD, just wasn't what I was used to. Gave them another go with Shadowmaker, saw the solos and realised the musicianship was legit and dived deeper. After watching a few live shows, Asami is one of my favourite front people and I love her voice and how happy she is. Band Maid on the other hand, I only dabbled with because I also generally don't really get into the lead singer's vocals, and most of their music that I have heard - while excellent in execution - still sounds like just more rock and I'm more into metal. I never had a song with Band Maid that made me really want to dive deeper. Just a few that got added to playlists because I liked those individual songs.
I've seen your reaction video Swan Song, looks like you enjoyed it and sang along a bit. If you've heard more Lovebites songs you'll understand that Asami sings in different ways depending on the genre of the song (power, thrash, hard rock, ballad). If you want powerful vocals, check out: The Crusade, Shadowmaker, Today Is The Day.

Hello @freetobewhoibe, I understand your feelings about Asami. I felt the same way when I heard it in the first videos. So, listening to more songs and live performances I understood why she is the voice of Lovebites. She is an amazing singer and a stage general! Can you imagine Rush without Geddy Lee or Judas Priest without Bob Halford? I personally never liked both, despite they are great singers too.

I do like this band and rank them at #3 in my list of Great Japanese Bands of the 21st Century, just behind Babymetal at #2 and, of course, Band-Maid easily holding the #1 spot. The vocals are distinctive and remind me a lot of two of the bands I saw and listened to and loved through my teen years in the mid-late 70's, Deep Purple and Judas Priest. Like Coverdale and Gillan and Halford, the vocals are always up front and almost - very nearly - at too high a pitch to enjoy but, just like Purple and Priest, there's enough solid Rock bass, drums and guitars to always get my head banging.
I love Band Maid and Babymetal but I just really struggle with Lovebites unfortunately. I respect the musicianship and I know that she can sing but it just doesn't move me for some reason. I will try a few more of their songs though
@@freetobewhoibe I have the same problem with Nightwish...the vocals especially. Saiki and SuMetal have a much wider range and can produce power without straining. I like Lovebites more for their musicianship but Nightwish just seems overblown, like a lot of late 80's Power and Glam Metal and Rock.

will admit, it took a while for me to grow into them. Didn't help my first Lovebites song was "When Destinies Align" which I feel features one of her weakest vocal lines, just lacking in dynamics..
That said, her style and voice grew on me, and now I can't imagine anyone else, in fact, I think she is one of the few who could cover a Bruce Dickinson vocal line properly. Also, aside form the original version of "Bravehearted" all lyrics are in English. But just as I'm pretty sure any of our attempts at Japanese would sound.. bad, to a native speaker, her accent can take some work to pick through, first few listens on a song.
maybe just stick to the other bands, Asami's voice is the same with all the songs powerful, like Su-Metal od babymetal has an amazing voice the other girl from band maid sucks to me so I stay away from band maid just not for me, we all have preference and favorite singers I can relate
