This live was the first event after LOVEBITES' long hiatus (2 years). This song was the first song to introduce the new bassist "Fami". It was beautiful to see all the band members celebrating and cheering on Fami's debut.

Who says you can't be happy while playing metal? Far too many metal bands feel they must cosplay angry or depressed outlaw bikers. With LOVEBITES, it is about the music, and their music is really, really good. They are one of the most talented metal bands on the planet.

Dude, I'm 59 and a Spanish member of the wolf pack. Tired of listening to old bands with old songs, Japanese rock has revolutionized everything, especially these heavy metal goddesses. With friendliness, beauty, great quality and professionalism. I love them. Asami is incredible for her voice, presence and beauty, and her colleagues are amazing for what they can do on stage. I've seen them live twice recently, and reality is stranger than fiction. They are the queens.

Missed your first reaction, but: Congratulations on discovering Lovebites. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. If they are not your thing, then you probably simply don’t like melodic metal, because they are the best at it.
They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they waited out the pandemic and searched for a new bassist, after their founder and original bassist left the band for personal reasons. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song on December 22. Their new album, “Judgement Day”, was released two months later.
They did their first live performances in more than two years in summer of 2023, with their new bassist Fami. Their very first show was commemorated on the DVD “Knocking on Heaven’s Gate”. They have posted four performances from that DVD:
    ”Hammer of Wrath” (you just watched this);
    “Judgement Day” czcams.com/video/yYEUGlFNBKc/video.html
    “Nameless Warrior” czcams.com/video/Dl29tiJCbNM/video.html and
    “Liar” czcams.com/video/YWHPfnJz2qk/video.html
    All of them are barn-burners.
    They have also posted:
    “Stand and Deliver” czcams.com/video/cNi-OEjzMdA/video.html
    “Swan Song” czcams.com/video/bK21cuI-V7c/video.html
    “MDO” czcams.com/video/4jhqEGTKoSg/video.html and
    “We the United” czcams.com/video/UnNxvgLI_Rg/video.html
    from the second concert.
    Some background:
They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet).
Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics and is also getting involved in composing.
In mid-2021, Miho left the band she had founded, for personal reasons. They went on hiatus while they searched for a new bassist, and during that time, two of them had babies, even as the band were writing and rehearsing their new album. They recently announced the new bassist, Fami, who is a young phenom and herself a composer and multi-instrumentalist. Their first song with Fami is “Judgement Day” czcams.com/video/m3uGjp-P7DI/video.html
The instrumentalists studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance was that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining.
They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like crazy). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band."
Here are more clips you should check out:
“Set the World on Fire” czcams.com/video/99zsH6iG_6c/video.html from their 2021 concert DVD “Heavy Metal Never Dies”.
    “Don’t Bite the Dust” czcams.com/video/oHnKGEj1CMc/video.html, from the same concert;
"Edge of the World" and "We the United", back to back: czcams.com/video/sl0-U-ykJCU/video.html They form an incredible journey from darkness and despair to light and hope.
    Also, “Empty Daydream”, which starts as a ballad and becomes a real rocker: czcams.com/video/lXh_uMM94jU/video.html;
Perhaps their greatest masterpiece, a showcase of multi-instrumental virtuosity and even classical dance: “A Frozen Serenade” czcams.com/video/Ae8pQVu-RN8/video.html (with lyrics embedded) or czcams.com/video/sEjN7dAh4ok/video.html for a 1080p version.
Miyako is also a virtuoso concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. She is self-taught on the guitar. If you want to see what she can do on the piano, watch “Swan Song” WITH the prelude, which is Chopin’s “Revolutionary Etude” (official name Étude Opus 10, No. 12 in C minor). Miyako wrote “Swan Song” using elements from several classical pieces including the Etude. This link should work: czcams.com/video/WBhtqgiXEA4/video.html.
For a thrasher with heavy Slayer and Metallica vibes, “Break the Wall” czcams.com/video/5Pc0XK0lNmU/video.html includes two gorgeous and completely contrasting solos by M&M.
For a heart-stopping ballad, “Epilogue” czcams.com/video/1ynnXDfEnnY/video.html (this includes a second song, your choice whether or not to react to both)
While you will sometimes hear you should only react to live clips, actually their MV’s are epic and worth seeing. Here are four of the most spectacular:
    "Shadowmaker" czcams.com/video/Brmoln5Gxus/video.html
This is the song that blew up and melted faces all over the world
    "When Destinies Align" czcams.com/video/hLFelI93VkM/video.html
    "Glory to the World" czcams.com/video/-wJtD2XEXH4/video.html
    "Winds of Transylvania" czcams.com/video/HsE4Ub_Pjh8/video.html.
They have a new album dropping end of August-don’t miss it, there will be new singles along with it.
You'll get lots of suggestions, just one thing: don't bother with Bloodstock footage, the sound quality is poor. Best to take suggestions with actual links. Also, you can’t go wrong with any of their official clips. Welcome to the Wolf-Pack!

There are many reasons why Lovebites is my favorite band ever. When I first heard Led Zeppelin back in 1970 (The Immigrant Song) when I was 10, my metal journey began. 54 years later, still here.
In comparison to almost every other band I've ever heard, Lovebites musicianship is as close to flawless as it can get. What they play is the perfect blend of power/thrash/speed/heavy metal. They sprinkle it with their influences from the late 70's to early 90's, toss in classical influences, and they create Lovebites metal. Based on your first two reactions to them, take them head on. Looking forward to more reactions.

This is the first number in their 'come back' concert in March 2023 following a two year hiatus after original bassist Miho left the band for personal reasons in 2021. They waited for the Covid situation to improve, and Miyako and Asami both had babies during the break. It was the first time on stage with the band for new bassist Fami and her first big concert, she was only 20 when recruited into the band in late 2022 and still at university. LOVEBITES - The Hammer Of Wrath lyrics:
What's the worst way to die?
    Burning to death, or drowning?
    Everyone laughs in derision
    There's no hope at all
Why is the world rotting away
Howling in pain, they slowly die
All of the sorrow is murderous
    The insanity
    (Burn up)
    They're calling me
    (Burn up)
    It's do or die
    (Burn up)
    Get ready for hell
(Bring down justice to the wicked)
Don't look away from the mistakes
Open your eyes, and see the truth
When lightning cracks the blackened sky
Listen to the screams of distress
It's like a bad dream but it's not
No way to get out, a living nightmare
Bring down the Hammer of Wrath
Who will be the next to burn?
    God only knows the victim
    Everyone knows they are innocent
    All the hope is gone
    In despair they pass away
There was no hope to begin with
Even the angels are giving up
    Looking down on us
Will this night ever break dawn

    • @1970Phoenix
      @1970Phoenix Před 24 dny +8

Almost everyone who uses the word "best" or "better' in relation to a band really just means "my favourite". They aren't making an objective assessment of some aspect of the band - rather they are just saying what they like. LOVEBITES and The Warning are two VERY different bands. One plays classic metal and the other plays hard rock. It's like saying apples are "better" than oranges.
Having said all that, LOVEBITES' music is much more technically complex than The Warning's music. Based on the available evidence (i.e. their music videos), so it is objectively true that LOVEBITES members are superior musicians. But musicianship is only one aspect of a band's performance.

@@1970Phoenix Very good point, people can really get caught up with their emotions, I really don't like comparing the Bands since all of it is completely subjective. I've seen way too much of the comparison game, and I'm just tired of it. Thanks for stating this because it really needs to be addressed.

@@1970Phoenix that is true,, if you want to use the word " better" there should be proof,, but as you can see/ hear from their.music, the warning is just an amateur compared to how lovebites plays their instruments,, the twin lead guitar of lovebites is the best proof,, dany from the warning is nowhere near the skills of miyako and midori,, pau drumming is just some childplay for haruna and the basic bass lines of ale is nothing but an elementary basslines for fami and yet the fans claiming that the warning is better than lovebites..Lol. AND ALSO IMO MUSICIANSHIP IS EVERYTHING WHEN IT COMES TO PLAYING HARD ROCK / METAL MUSIC,, do you really think that a band with a good stage presence is better than Metalica, ACDC, Black Sabath, led zep, Dream Theater ?????

@@akatzukianlun There are plenty of bands who play relatively simple songs that don't require much technical skill, but those songs are very popular. Take the list you gave - ACDC, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin all play music with a (relatively) low level of technicality. Metallica and Dream Theater however play with a much higher level of technicality. So, your list has basically proved my point, so thanks for that.
