- We show how we built an automatic feeder and watering system for our chicken coop with Rainwater collection too. This makes it more convenient and allows us to be gone for a few days if we want.
We have a new puppy! She is a mini Aussie named Sassy. We inherited her from my daughter-in-law’s father who recently passed away. She is a little bundle of energy and we love her!

Thank you! Auto feeders and waterer let’s us be lazy and go fishing 🤣Sassy is a miniature Australian shepherd. They also call them an American shepherd since the minis were bred here I think. They are a herding dog too, and usually very smart like a border collie. But you have to keep them busy or they will find something to do themselves 😂🤣Hope you have a wonderful weekend too!💕

As always great job and what a great new addition to the family... our horses name is Sassy and January gone by we added a miniture blue heeler to our family.... I've been subscribed to your channel since pretty much the start of the log cabin.... my wife never had a name chosen for our little girl and i was keeping her up to date on the build.... she asked me how your name was spelled and my wife said lets name our little girl Cinda... and so we did... if you have an email I'll send you guys some pictures of her

Thanks! We love her! She’s gradually learning not to chase the chickens. But instincts are strong🤣🐕Both our other dogs are herding dogs also, but it took a bit for them to understand that chickens don’t act like sheep! Indy helps me round them up at night and he loves having a “flock”! He can get them to move just with a slow walk and intent stare😁😁I think she will get it too🐕😊

Hi Julio. We are going camping this week, but not sure if we will video it, the weather may not be very good. Lance has been having some problems with his neck so he hasn’t been able to do much lately. He’s been trying to take it easy for a while. We are glad you are still getting some nice weather. Yes, she definitely brings a lot of energy to the mix! But she is super good natured and gets along great with the boys! Even Brody has learned to play nicely with her which says a lot because he usually plays really rough😬🤣we are sure enjoying her!
ohh cute new dog you haven't been on for little while now to the new dog Sassy is a herding dog like a collie in Australia they used also in herding sheep to so its natural she will herd the chickens love the new water's to there nice Lance is very inventive with the feeders good job
Thanks! We sure do love her! She’s a lot of fun and gives Brody someone to play with. We are working on changing the chasing to a calmer herding game with the chickens and she is starting to catch on. She’s pretty smart🤣🤣
You have done a great job POB both of you. Personally I don't like my water cups and will change out nipples
The nipples are easier to keep clean, but our chicks much prefer the cups. It’s so hot here in the summer I don’t think they get enough to drink out of the nipples. Of course it might just depend on what they get used to. 😊👍

Think chickens are so interesting and exciting about it all. They are doing so well, so I wonder if there will be a lot of eggs all of a sudden, I guess the hens have to pay a little rent in the form of eggs..ha ha,😆 And yes, it is hard with a new dog and that age is crazy about energy and there something has to happen all the time, but fortunately they quickly find a rhythm and reflect the other dogs you have. Hi Jim! Nope, didn’t have to fight over the first egg, we got another the next day! Just had them for breakfast this morning. It was really a surprise as that first one was a double yolk even though it was small! Never seen that before on a first egg😊Hope you have a great weekend!😊👍

Yes, we thought about getting a rooster, but we had a two of them years ago that would fly up and try to spur us. We wanted to be sure the dogs would not lose an eye. The dogs are really good at keeping the hawks away and we have about 2 acres fenced in, so they are pretty safe. But roosters sure are pretty!

Thank you! We have 9 sapphire gem hens and 5 black Australorps. Both types are very gentle and super good layers. Also smart enough that you can let them free range. The black ones are supposed to discourage hawks since the hawks think they are crows. So far, it seems to be working. 😊

Yes! We are not fond of snakes either, or the ticks and chiggers! But the snakes aren’t usually much of a problem. They do help keep the mice down!😊
Looking to copy your run build w/ dimensional lumber, but I live in a high wind (SW Oklahoma). Any suggestions on how to beef up the run for my wx conditions? I thought of digging in the up-rites.
That should work. Or you could use some mobile home tie downs. We have had 60 mph winds here with no problem, since it does not catch much wind. But tie downs would definitely be a good idea even here. We get an occasional tornado too. 😊
Don't know if you Found your food solution but I did the same thing and ended up getting a grandpa's feeder

Yes, we get kind of spoiled ! If we need something we can mill whatever size we want🤣😂
