I traded for the Brougham in 2012. Does look beautiful, but battery was dead, NO gauges was working, seats did not work, wrong wheels, wiring was all wrong, air did not work, trunk did not work, car was not what it was advertised. Not the right vanities. Got most of it fixed for about another 35 K . Love the Brougham and glad to have it, Dave
What an absolutely stunning car. I could spend the better part of an afternoon just sitting and looking at all the design elements from different angles. As it was intended to be, it is a testament to what skilled American craftsmen and American technology could accomplish when the beancounters were left out of the equation.
Beautiful, simple gorgeous. Factory FM radios in cars first came out in 63 I believe, so if it is an am/fm then that’s not the original radio, as stated.
1958 was one one of the best years for Cadillac , don't make Caddys like this anymore . Now of days they make cheap boring cars made out of toilet paper .
I agree fully. Bill Olsen. It was a beautiful motorization. Not bad cars. Not the current plastic cars that drive from site to service, with electronics.
It also had a drivers memory seat but no am/fm radio, only am and that was the first transistor radio in any automobile. The suicide doors were 4 years ahead of Lincoln.
These Cadillac,s were indeed the finest cars ever built with features even modern cars don,t have. At the time they were far superior to a Rolls Royce. During the mid 1960,s the brand started declining due to quality & reliability issues that still currently are an issue. I think the early Lincoln’s were a far superior car with a style that was elegant, yet understated. 1958 was indeed the finest hour for Cadillac.
Has Jay Leno seen this ? He has one similar. I'm not sure of the year though. I think it's this one. Same gorgeous color. Just a couple months ago when Jay was burned/injured, he returned to the hospital to gift the staff with doughnuts in appreciation for their excellent care. On his way home he stopped at a gas station and. he put gas into his awesome dark blue whatever year Cadillac and off he went, leaving me gasping and constantly in search for the car. I'm tellin' ya', if Leno sees this he'll go nuts. Thank you so much for sharing this. It was fantastic.
this is a '57,the last year for single headlamps, from '58 on, all new cars had to be equipped with double headlamps by law...Rare, expensive and complicated maintenance, nice one!
You're wrong about the law. Singles versus duals were never regulated by law. I don't know why you would think that because for many years GM used it as a differentiator for its different price levels. Cheap brands like Chevrolet got singles while pricier brands like GMC and Cadillac had duals. 1958 was the first year for duals. 1957 Cadillacs had singles. Take another look at 0:11, this car has duals, it's a 1958.
Was just gonna say Stig these aren't the correct wheels. I mean the car is fabulous and his presentation is great. However no car in 1957 had AM FM radio because FM didnt exist. Minor fuss with that, lol. But he also left out a few things such as first car with memory seats. It had an electric closer on the trunk. Air ride and auto leveling. All kinds of bells and whistles cars just didn't have then. Overall this is a great car and he did a great job selling it. Very well done for a young man
The radio in this car is period-correct, but it's only a signal seeking AM radio. FM did exist throughout the 1950s and was increasing in popularity. There were still about 3 times as many AM stations as FM stations, but FM did exist and was available in the larger cities. Cadillac brochures first mention an AM/FM radio option in 1963.
One problem with original hubcaps, they tend to fly off when on the highway, either at higher speed or when going over a bump, confounding problem if they're hard to replace, which these probably are. Wire wheels are a good option to maintain a decent (although not factory correct) look, and drive the car without worry.
The original wheelcovers (not hubcaps) did not have a problem of flying off on the highway unless they were incorrectly seated on the wheel. The installer *must* inspect to make sure that the wheelcover is fully seated on the wheel with absolutely no gap anywhere on the rim. Use a rubber hammer thoroughly.
I think it's funny that the exhaust doesn't actually route out through the exhaust ports in the bumper. I don't know if that is correct or not. I do know that other Cadillacs of that era had functioning bumper exhaust ports.
59 is a cheaper car. Strange maybe but it was cheaper to transport a ordinary 59 to Italy and "brougham" it there and then transport it back to US than handbuild them like they did with the 57-58 at the Fleetwood factory.
There were problems, but I don't know that it was GM who did the dirty deed of replacing them with springs. I'm pretty sure that under warranty GM would have fixed the leaks and sent them on their way. But they did not have a long warranty period in those days. Once out of warranty, owners would be faced with lack of parts for such a rare car, and lack of expertise for how the system worked at their local shock & muffler shop. The recommendation would inevitably be to replace the entire system with coil springs and normal shocks. If instead they got a repair estimate from a dealer, it would have been for an exorbitant amount that made complete replacement the more economical option.
IF there was a more beautiful/luxurious car ever made, I'm not aware of it. This one isn't 100% but still a fantastic restoration. I'd like to see the before pic's also. !957/58 were top shelf, quality began to go down from 1959 on. I think the number manufactured of the 57/58 style was around 400.
Quality actually went up in the 1960s. It wasn't until the EPA regulations hit in the 1970s that quality started to suffer. I particularly like the styling of the 1964 and the 1966 Cadillacs. 1964 was the last year of the true tailfins. It was small but elegant and sat atop a very elegant vertical taillight. The 1966 Cadillac led the way forward to a new, more modern look. The tailfins were eliminated in favor of beveled fender peaks and vertical taillights. It was an even more elegant refinement of the 1965 when most of the change was made. In 1967 & '68 they reverted to flirting with pseudo-tailfins. An OK look, but not nearly as elegant as the 1966.
Hmm!!!! why you have not open the engine hood and the trunk with the switches in the glove compartment ??? What is with the airride system ?? And the wonderbar channel seeking radio with footswitch !?? And why is the seat bench not move in memory position by opening the door ??
Just a note about this beautiful 1958 Brougham . Broughams never had am/FM radios in 1958 am only. Also the wheels & air suspension have been altered(not original) However the cars restoration was very well done!! T.Y.
The vanity is there!! And that makes me feel much better about selling one of my kidneys for this car ;) Gorgeous car! Thanks for sharing her via video.
"Where can I get me a Cadillac car? I don`t have it now but I can get it (gid it)" - Gene Vincent and his Blue Caps- Maybe some day, some way I will get my dreams come true and I will be the owner of one of the most wonderful car on this world!
Beautiful car but the camera work was for the most part blurry and made it impossible to see detail at all. if you are selling go to vanguard motors and see how clear their presentations are. Again great car but the photography needs work.
Beautiful Biarritz and great attention to detail but was wondering why there is a brake line, or is it a fuel line, running under the passenger side rockers.
Nice! SSroof is cool, with Copenhagen blue finish. Stunning. Is that a/c factory-installed? Does the engine number match the body plate? Video is thorough, which I appreciate.
The speaker says "all of the fits & the gaps are PERFECT".. Visually, I can see virtually ALL of the panel gaps are way off ; although appraiser must also feel with fingertips to accurately judge the straightness as well as visually..
GM sold these back in the day for 25000.00, in 1958 an astronomical price for a car but I understand GM lost money on every sale. I recall that Jack Wrather of oil, radio, TV, hotels, Movies etc. owned a black with stainless model. He owned the rights to The Lone Ranger, Sargent Preston Of The Yukon, and Lassie. He built the Hotel at Disneyland when Walt ran out of Money building and developing his first amusement park. Disney offered to buy it two years later but Jack knew a good money maker and would not sell. They were still best friends for life.
It's a shame that Cadillac the first to before Lincoln to come out with coach (suicide) doors they made getting in and out of so much easier, profoundly exquisite the 57 & 58 year's of the best appointed Cadillac's ever built! I would love to sit in the back seat go for a ride and have a sip of scotch out of the Cadillac shot glass!
This is a incredible vehicle that I have had the privilege in assisting the new owner in bringing into OEM compliance. This 58 just recieved the 1st place National award. The car is now 100% in all it functions, from Air Ride to auto trunk. You can see some of out work here: czcams.com/play/PLuqCTdlPCVB1SozT41aogyi3VFpue0eCm.html
This is why Cadillac set the standard for the world. What a dreamboat.
Simply one of the most beautifully styled cars of all time! Nuff said-
David my name is Michael Beckman text me and let me know how much the Cadillac Eldorado Liz I think it's beautiful I'm curious in the price thank you
Those were the days they made cars with elegance..... I still cherish my love for those great masterpieces...

Is this your car, Shawn?
My dad's car
Fantastic! Lmk if he ever want to let go of it.. I have a nice one I just re-comissioned.
I think he is willing to sell it, but at $300,000. We just took it to a Concourse show last Saturday. Grand national winner
Wow, cool! Concourse winner? With Spring conversion, or is it on original air-ride? He'd like mine too. Love that color of his car.
Magnificent, Superb, Outstanding, and Out of sight!
The power windows work extremely fast.
Hydraulic they were far faster than elect. But would chop a finger off in a sec....
An Incredibly Beauuutiful Car!💕

I did not know that GM ever put out a car with suicide doors. Learned something today. What a beautiful car
One of the nicest examples and fantastic presentation, joy to watch, hope it goes to a great home.
Beautiful Cadillac!
I want a car with it's very own shot glasses.
Beautiful, simple gorgeous. Factory FM radios in cars first came out in 63 I believe, so if it is an am/fm then that’s not the original radio, as stated.
amazing technology for the time
2:55 Muito Lindo, sou apaixonado por Cadillac.
This 1958 Cadillac has more original options and extras than my 2000 Audi.
This is my Dream Car! Its one of the most stunning cars ever built. I wish more were built and they didnt have to be so expensive!
1958 was one one of the best years for Cadillac , don't make Caddys like this anymore . Now of days they make cheap boring cars made out of toilet paper .
+Elvis Presley You should know Elvis.
I agree with you about this toilet paper.
USED TOILET PAPER TO BE EXACT......
My parents had both a 55 & a 59 Cadillac. You had to be right next to either one of them to hear them run.
The most beautiful Cadillac ever built! Ever!!!
Brushed stainless steel roofs were not options on the 57-58 Eldorado Brougham, they were standard.
I agree fully. Bill Olsen. It was a beautiful motorization. Not bad cars. Not the current plastic cars that drive from site to service, with electronics.
Gorgeous vehicle. How many are left now?
was there an advantage with a stainles ssteel roof or just for loooks?
Didn't know that.
@@randomrazr keep thinking

"Copenhagen Blue" ~ a car colour to die for !!

Damn those are some fast windows!
this is a '57,the last year for single headlamps, from '58 on, all new cars had to be equipped with double headlamps by law...Rare, expensive and complicated maintenance, nice one!
This car is a '58. The 57 Brougham was the first US car w quad headlamps.

@@dlwatib no, also 57 Brohm has dual.
My dad once owned a 1958 Cadillac. I believe the radio was only signal-seeking AM in 1958. The whitewalls on the tires were wider too!
really like the color

Three people actually hit the dislike. What's wrong with them??
they like the original wheels better
its probably isis , because cadillac is amarican.

It is a beauty, but I gotta say my eye is more inclined to the 59 and 60. Perhaps the 59 was the pinnacle of design.

The air suspension is gone. At 9:51 when he points the camera up under the left front side of the car, a coil spring can be seen.
I think there were problems and GM replaced most of the air suspensions.

Amazing car ,first time I've seen the glove box accessories. What is the knob next to the power window switches for?
Is the opener for the doors. Is a chrome ball !

Beautiful car.does this car has the power antenna, as well as power trunk pull down and air suspension?
All 57/58 Broughams have power antenna and power trunk open/close. The air suspension was common to be swapped to springs in the 1970's
When Cadillac owned the luxury car market!
Nice! SSroof is cool, with Copenhagen blue finish. Stunning. Is that a/c factory-installed? Does the engine number match the body plate? Video is thorough, which I appreciate.
The air conditioning was factory installed.

Me gusta el carro; Cadillac Eldorado Brougham 1958
ONE OF THE FEW SUICIDE DOOR CARS I'VE SEEN WITHOUT A B-PILLAR.
IT LOOKS A LITTLE TIGHT IN THE BACK SEAT, ALMOST LIKE A COUPE WITH "CONVENIENCE" DOORS.
Tri power is correct for 58....dual quad was for 57.
How much money???
This radio had am AND fm, in 1958?
This car is AMAZING. They really don't make style like that today. Boring cars.
498 is sitting in my garage.

Correction, these cars sold for $13,000 + , gm lost $10,000, you're correct to say $25,000, but they sold for $13,500..a lot of money back in the day.

The spare wheel is the original alu wheel.
The car stand on the original kelsey hayes wirer wheels.
Where the 4 alus ??
that is a awsome car if only it showed the cadillac log on the front and the eldorado writing on the side
price??????
This car is missing the Sabre Wheels. See spare tire wheel. The poor fit of the trunk lid drives me nuts.
Sick ! . . .
this is the car my dad had exactly. looking for one to get him
I think that's the handle to open the door.
Oh it is missing the passenger door handle.
At the time 57&58 Eldorado Brougham were more expensive than a Rolls Royce
You did not show the auto trunk.
We do the restoration on all the trunk assembly's. You can view here.

It's called the Autronic Eye.
That's not an option that's the way the roof came stainless steel for the four-door for the Eldorado Brougham
Shot glasses?🥂 SOLD!
I'm a bit surprised, because I'm pretty sure both MY of this generation had dual-quad carb, and not tri-power like this one (or so says the video).
The '57 had dual fours, the '58 had 3 deuces
How much is the El Dorado 1958 the blue one let me know text me thank you
I'd be up scared to drive it
there's supposed to be 6 shotglasses
